First week ever dieting...

When I weighed myself today found I'd lost 2Ib (0.7kg) in weight and 1 inch (2cm) in height. Same shoes, same clothes! Lost 2 Ibs but my BMI went up 0.4 Confused

The % body fat went from 34.6% - borderline poor, to 24.7% - Excellent, making a loss of 7.9kg (17.4 Ibs) in fat ConfusedConfused

Am now completely weirded out, is this normal? that much fat? is 2 Ibs good/bad/average?

That happened to me too! I got shorter... As for the fat, I think (and I mean think, I could be wrong) that the way the body fat works is that it sends and electric current round you and measures the resistance- the higher the resistance, the lower the body fat as fat contains a lot of water which is conductive. So maybe this has something to do with your fat loss. However this really is a guess, and I might be spouting rubbish! Or the scales are wrong.

Boots scales are good, but I would only use the 50p option, as the height thing is a bit wonky on them! Weight though, they are spot on.

2lbs is a fab start

Thanks, was very confused in shop, the scales talk very loudly and there were quite a few people around with nothing to do Blush

Now I'm off to a good start, I'll try and leave it a few weeks and use a tape measure at home. I'm so shallow - not being able to fit into clothes is my major motivating factor rather the % fat thing.

Its a good reason to did it! Better than buying bigger size, that is the road to fatness!

With the Boots machine, I once lost six inches in height and half my body weight!! Another time it told me I'd lost 5kg one week and gained 4kg back the next week.

However, aside from those two occasions, I have found my local machine seems accurate and consistent over the 20 weeks I've used it.

I quite like using it instead of weighing myself at home because there's no temptation to jump on the scales more often than I should and obsess over whether I've lost a tenth of a kilo since yesterday.
