Relying on supermarket meals

Due to my hectic life and er laziness, I find I eat mindlessly in the evenings.
I thought buying some M&S Count on Us meals for myself might do the trick. They are on offer at the moment and are around 350 calories.
If I calorie counted during the day and had one of those, would it work?

I want to lose a stone.

(I'm not interested in diet chef or any of those other crap ambient food companies so dont bother posting here if you're an agent)

I'm sure they would work but like all ready meals they more than likely have a lot of salt and other additives which are not good. Maybe better to cook up a batch of healthy homemade, portion controlled meals when you get the time and pop them in the freezer.

Jahan · 17/01/2011 20:23

I so didn't want to hear that Smile
I know you are right.

It's only the evening meal so I think I'll give it a go for a week.

I highly recommend the Ready Meal Diet and am on it myself at the moment.

Last summer I lost over a stone and a half just by sticking to 1500 calories a day or less and I found ready meals with calculated calories so helpful.

I put on a few pounds over Christmas and am now trying to lose the last 10lbs or so to get to a good weight.

The brilliant thing about ready meals is they fill you up, make you feel like you've eaten a proper meal, but you don't have to spend much time around food (shopping for it/cooking it) so you can busy yourself with something else to take your mind off the diet. Well, that's what I found.

They probably aren't that healthy long term, but I'm dieting to look better in jeans not to give me prefect health. I don't expect to be on the diet long anyway as I usually lose at the rate of 1-1.5lbs a week.

Thats a good weightloss LemonDifficult
Which meals do you buy?
What do you eat during the day?

I'm trying to believe that the M&S ones can't be too bad. They are usually so good with their delicious food.

I'm planning on having porridge for breakfast, soup and bread for lunch (both hm) and then the ready meal. My snacks will be mostly yogurts and fruit.

It sounds ok doesn't it?

Sounds good.

I have:

Special K various flavours @ 8am

Ready meal 1 @ 12.30pm

Bag of Ice Gems or Organix Crisps or Twiglets 4pm

Ready Meal 2 @ 7pm
Skinny Cow Lolly

Sometimes glass of wine, always lots of water.

I have fruit all day everyday and don't count it.

If I'm going out then I just stick to the stuff above but relax for the time I'm out. I want to lose weight but provided I don't go too mad or go out much then blips don't seem to make much difference to the weight coming off. I'm overweight cos I eat too much mindlessly at home, if I tackle that bit then I seem to be alright.

M&S meals are by far the best, IMO.

Great Smile

Off to M&S tomorrow it is then Smile

Good luck. Let me know how you get on.

I can also recommend a couple of the Waitrose meals, Frozen Prawn Linguine and Beef in Red Wine, both microwaveable and both can be done straight from the freezer.

Jahan · 17/01/2011 21:16

Thanks Smile
Mmm I love prawns. I shall take a trip to Waitrose too but probably at the weekend.

I'll post back here in a week and let you know how much I've lost Smile

Good luck with losing your 10lbs. You can let me know too.

Good idea.

See you for weigh in next Monday!

LemonDifficult · 24/01/2011 13:33

How did you get on?

Scales say I'm up a lb but I"m not feeling too bad about it as I actually weigh myself every day and have lost about two and half pound in as many weeks.

I think my lack of weightloss this week was a result of Friday night's blow out and yeaterday's Wispa...

This week I shall try harder!
