If so, please post your story here and tell me how you did it ......

Years ago I did. It was from following Rosemary Conley's original very low fat Hip & Thigh diet. For about three years afterwards, I couldn't stand fatty food - cheese tasted like lard.

I stayed slim for about five years and even after that was still well within the Medical Association healthy weight. Only got porky once the children went to school and I was working from home, getting zero exercise.

But Hip and Thigh, or any diet, is easier to follow pre kids and pre OH, as you just buy and eat what it says. Having to constantly prepare different meals for kids, then you, then DH is tricky. Best bet long term, I'm hoping, is Paul McKenna. But it's a more gradual and permanent weight loss than any diet.

my sister lost about 8 stone over 10 years ago and has kept it off. she does weightwatchers. she is a gold member so she no longer pays if she stays below a certain weight.

In 2003 I lost 4 stone in 11mths on ww

I brought the books and calculator and did it home alone - I refuse to pay £5 a week for someone to weigh me

I kept it off for about 5yrs then got slack and eating more takeaways/fry ups/wine and piled back on just over 2 stone

It's taken longer this time to shift the weight ( had a few rw dramas last year but didn't gain and lost over 1.5stones) and now on new ww PP and losing each week

If you are motivated and stick to the diet whether ww/sw/rc etc you WILL lose weight

People who say diets don't work are not sticking to them - tbh it is easy enough to lose the weight (eat less and exercise more) but it is harder to keep it off

Thanks all. Yes, it does seem that keeping it off is the challenge ...

I lost 2.5 st on slimming world 3 years ago. I largley kept it off until this summer when I stopped going to meetings and gained a stone.

I re-lost the stone between september and Xmas by going back to meetings. I really do need the weekly weigh in to keep me in check.

Ilost 5 stone with Slimminworld back in 1994 over the next 15 years it went back on & off 4 times.

I only kept it off by doing healthy eating & exercise. By exercise I mean approx 4 hours of vigorous exercise a week.
