You can usually buy the books on ebay - BUT it usually works out cheaper to go to class, (even if you only go once).

I'd suggest giving the classes a try - they might not be as horrendous as you imagine - and you will learn alot. (But if you have the books you can do it yourself - and there is loads of help on here and on facebook etc).

I guess you could do it without weighing yourself - BUT how will you know how you're doing?

The scales have been a big motivation for me........ seeing a lower number every week.

(PS - I think there is a voucher in Best or Bella or Woman or something for free joining).

Thanks Grace, but really don't want to do the classes - problem with logistics too. I will know how I'm doing as clothes will not be tight, and I have certain items of clothing to gauge my weight loss with.

I was borderline anorexic as a teen and used to weight obsessively, so now won't have scales in the house...wouldn't like to visit that part of my life again.

In my own experience I have only been successful doing Slimming World and staying to group.

You get all your support and motivation from a big group of people who are all working towards the same goal. If you are struggling you can get tips from your fellow slimmers and if you are doing really well they can get their inspiration from you.

Membership is half price up until the end of January. If you are not sure you can sit through a class to see what its like without paying as a trial. Slimming World normally supports this.

Have a look on their website to see what you think. Give it a go!!

Is there anyway you could get your nurse at the doctors to weigh you? You don't necessarily have to go every week.....

Sorry only just back on this - I wouldn't want to know what my weight was though...yes I AM odd!
