Anyone ever hear of this??

Yes. I did LighterLife and they tackled the subject.
It's to do with eating and not realising it, ie watching the TV when you're having your tea.

And also eating for the sake of it.

All very interesting.

Was reading a bit about it, and had a lightbulb moment because that is exactly what I do!

Paul McKenna said about it in one of his shows, how you should eat only at the table with no distractions and really concentrate on what you're eating, makes sense really, I'm often surprised when I reach back into the packet of whatever only to find it's empty.

I find it difficult to remember when I last ate a meal while actually concentrating on it. Am not even sure I ever did Hmm

Am bumping this because I genuinely want to know if anyone has tried it and if so have they lost any weight??

Mindful eating on Mumsnet

I received some notes on mindful eating from my dietician. It was very interesting. In her office we did an exercise where we both ate a raison (each, I mean). We talked about the smell before we ate it, the texture, the taste etc. Of course we ate very slowly. For a few days after I was definitely eating mindfully but I hate to say the feelings wore off a bit!

If you Google Mindful eating you will get lots of info. Some of the info was based on a book called 'Mind Over Mood: Change How You Feel By Changing the Way You Think'.

I was seeing a dietician for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I have since started Rosemary Conley classes, which I do find very helpful. Sadly my IBS seems to be aggravated by some healthy foods! So for now I am just concentrating on losing weight and will tackle the IBS when I am a bit lighter! I hope!

All the best.

I'm now reading Overcoming Overeating: It's Not What You Eat, It's What's Eating You! by Lisa Morrone.

It is really brilliant.

Im doing Paul McKenna and this is one of the main themes. I always eat concsiously now, and follow his other rules. Losing weight quite quickly & steadily!

Italiangreyhound · 13/04/2011 10:13

HowToLookGoodGlaikit great, well done. Hope it continues and you feel good. Do you have long standing issues with food or is it something more recent. Feel free not to answer if it is too personal.
