Lighterlife - Has anyone gone back to it?

A bit of background. Lost 3 stone on lighterlife about 3 years ago - felt fantastic but didn't do maintenance as celebrations to attend etc.

Over the past three years I have regained the weight but am thinking of doing it again as it's the only thing that has worked for me in losing weight.

I'm not stupid - I know it's not the healthiest way to lose weight and there are other issues to deal with but I have a large family gathering in the summer (family coming from all over the world) that I do not want to be fat for. For me was a quick effective way to lose weight, in the short term at least.

I know that this is a public forum and people can post what they like but I'm really only interested in hearing from people who have done lighterlife before - what do you think? Should I go back?

Bonne Chance Dalek. let me know how it goes, especially being about to drink so much water.

I just need to get myself into a mental state about not eating solids for a while.

Verso · 07/02/2011 18:47

Good luck, Dalek! You won't regret it: LL is fab!! Grin

Day 1 - fine so far - I am feeling quite up. Went to class last night and it as fine - got weighed - gulp!!! But I'm here and I'm going to succeed.

Thanks for all the support

Hope your day went well, Dalek. Days 2 and 3 can be tricky but once you get in ketosis you will feel much better, honest! Just drink lots of water and try to distract yourself if you need to (you might be fine and not need to though!) just to get through the next couple of days. Onward and downward!

coffeecoffeecoffee · 08/02/2011 22:08

I did LL a couple of summers ago and lost 3.5 stones - have put back 10lb on but to be honest, still very happy with the weight I am and am maintaining well.

I do have a couple of friends who went back on it and really struggled - again, not sure why!

But you have the motivation, so go for it Smile

Verso · 09/02/2011 11:37

If I'm feeling brave later I'll post my "before" and "after" pics on my profile so you can see that it works!

dalek · 09/02/2011 14:05

Would love to see your pictures Verso - I am feeling hungry today but I'll just try and get through it.

I also would love to see your before and after photos verso! Have had tough week with sick baby, so sleepless nights and stuck indoors but stuck to my guns and kept strictly to diet. Therefore bit dissapointed with only 2.2lbs loss today. Ccl says I need to drink more water and may be constipated. It is a stone in 3 weeks but still. How much was your averages per week verso and all doing or done ll?

Verso · 10/02/2011 16:15

Ooh now I've started something! Blush Will try to sort some out in the next couple of days.

My average losses varied widely depending on hormones (!). I'm a bit of a geek and did a spreadsheet and graph and you can see it's clearly cyclical. Varied between 1lb and 5lb (!) per week. Now I'm on Lite I'm losing about 1.5lb a week on average, so a bit slower.

Good for you, pops, sticking to LL with sleepless nights. I go to pieces without sleep so think you're really strong!

One stone in three weeks is brilliant, by the way! I averaged about a stone a month I think, but got a bit slower towards the end of Total.

Verso · 10/02/2011 16:16

By the way, I had my weigh in last night and have now OFFICIALLY LOST FIVE STONE! Grin

Foreverondiet · 10/02/2011 16:32

Verso - wow 5 stones, wow, well done you must be so proud of yourself. 1.5lb a week still good weight loss though (not sure how much you have left). Had to post even though don't know what lighter life is as anyone who has lost 5 stone deserves huge congratulations!

I like the end of a diet best, even though the weight loss is slower as you look much better and can enjoy being your new shape, as even when you reach the target weight you still need to do maintenance diet to ensure it stays off. I'm now down to last half stone and now am happy with 0.5-1lb a week.

Pops78 - recommend trying movicol (I think you can buy over counter) it will sort out any constipation and make sure its not uncomfortable (sorry if TMI) when it does happen. Also drink gallons of water.

dalek · 11/02/2011 10:29

Verso - that's fantastic - well done

Pics are up! The "after" photo is from December so I've lost more weight since then, but it gives you an idea! :)

hugebelly · 12/02/2011 14:44

Verso, you look amazing. I have printed you off and stuck yo on my fridge. Fantastic, brilliant. you should post another piccie of you as you are now.

dalek · 12/02/2011 18:46

Verso - you look amazing - well done - can't wait to see your later photos as well.

Have uploaded a (very bad) one of me from today! :)

hugebelly · 13/02/2011 22:53

Verso - merci! Printed and on the fridge.

You have such skinny legs. Did you exercise whilst doing the programme? If so, what? and did your body 'ping' back into shape?

dalek · 14/02/2011 13:34

Just seen later photos - you look amazing Verso - enjoy it.

Hi guys, I'm going back on LL next week and am very excited Grin.

Lost 6 stones in 4 months in 2005 and have never felt so fab. But 3 IVF cycles and two gorgeous DC later and I'm back to square one Sad. Nothing else is working so back to the drawing board.

Can't wait to get into my fab post-LL/pre-pg wardrobe again Grin.

(Verso's picks have given me the extra push too - thanks!)

dalek · 20/02/2011 22:47

Good Luck Knitting Rocks. Have my second weigh in tomorrow.

Ooh, weird (but also strangely cool) to be on someone else's fridge!! Good luck, everyone! I have my first weigh in in two weeks tonight and will be glad to have stayed the same as I was away in Portugal last week with work which made things challenging. I didn't go too 'off road' but did have so e traditional Portuguese food and wine on the last night! Grin

Verso · 23/02/2011 07:57

So e = 'some'!

hugebelly · 23/02/2011 20:39

Knitting Rocks - 6 stones in 4 months? How water were you drinking everyday?!?!?! Did you little cheats?

hugebelly · 23/02/2011 20:39

how 'much' water....? Did you 'have' little cheats?

Sorry, I'm tired!
