I have some questions about slimming world...

I am thinking about starting slimming world. New year new start blah blah. I don't have loads to lose, maybe a stone, stone and a half.
Anyway, i am considering joining online, is anyone doing it online? Is it any good? will ALL the info be there once i pay up and will it be clear enough for me to just get on with it?

If i join a meeting what happens if i don't go one week, do you still have to pay for missed meetings like on Weight Watchers? The reason i ask is that once a month i have a commitment on the day of the meeting, what would happen?
Also, can one just go and get weighed or do you have to stay for the whole meeting?

My gut feeling is that going to the meeting is probably best but it is such a peformance, i have two very young children and i think i would prefer to do it online rather than try and jiggle their days round getting weighed.

I would be really interested to hear your experiences of the diet in general and specifically the online version versus meetings.

Thanks in advance and happy new year!

SW is like all clubs..... if you miss a week then you do have to pay. (They do have a deal for shift workers though).

I've never done it online - only been to classes, (although my friend joined online and managed fine)....... I do agree that classes are probably the best option.

You can just pop in to get weighed...... (are there any other classes fairly local that you could go to once a month when you can't make your regular one)?

I've just switched from WW to SW.... (I've done them both a few times) - I find that having to count everything I put in my mouth is just too much of a palaver..... and love all the free food that SW has to offer. SW Extra Easy plan really is extra easy! I'd also add that I know alot of people who have lost their weight on SW..... whereas I know alot of people who have been doing WW for a long time but not really getting anywhere!

Hope that helps - and good luck with your weightloss!

Thank you savedbygrace.
I have decided to do it online as 2 v young children, working and studying getting there is just one more thing to manage.

I am going to start tomorrow so will spend some time getting to know the plan tonight.

Any tips, suggestions or thoughts from others gratefully received xxx

stickybean I found your thread as I was thinking of starting one exactly like it.

How are you getting on? The online membership seems expensive compared to classes, but I'm presuming you have to fork out extra for recipe books etc at the meetings?

I was wondering if you could just get hold of a book or two and muddle along by yourself, but I'd be interested to know what you make of the online set-up (if you have joined).

Hi Nigglewiggle i have joined online. So far i am finding it ok. It took me a good couple of hours to play about on the site and get a feel for it and a deeper understanding of the diet.
I find the website a bit annoying and not that intuative but so far it does the job.
I've done 3 days so far and haven't been hungry at all.
I don't have the books yet so have had to use all the online info. If you had the books you could probably just do it with them, saying that i don't know what info they have in comparison.
when they arrive i'll pop back here and give you more info Smile
