I am a starting weight of 12st 13lbs, I want to lose 3stone. I am going to do it by South Beach diet and walking and workouts. Starting today! Have had ham and erggs for breakfast, busy for the rest of the day but going to go for a walk later. Have done no exercise over the festive period so a walk is a start! Anyone want to join me? xxxxxx

wow, you sweated off 6lbs zazza lol. I wish I could do slimming world, but it gives me ibs. Youre so brave going to the gym, I havent got the nerve to go on my own. I am so achey today, I went out on Saturday and we danced all night, have woken some muscles up, haha.

Hi everyone, can I join, reckon I have 2 stone to lose but if I lost 3 stone it would be fantastic. I am 5ft 3" and weigh approx 12st 10lb, getting weighed tomorrow so will know exact weight. Started my diet yesterday, can usually manage first few days of a diet but then give in and get a take-away Blush. However this time I am determined to lose.

zazzabeans · 17/01/2011 22:31

woahthere i know how you feel with the ibs... im certain i suffer from it. but docs just say its trapped wind Hmm i have been ill with stomach cramps/trapped wind for about 3 year now, its awful Sad
i joined the gym with a friend (she had been going a while before me, ) i wouldnt dared of go myself though !!!! i would be to embarresed Blush
bet you burnt off a few calories dancing though.... do you have a wii? they are quite good.

desiretochange hi, im new on this thread too 3 stone would be great wouldnt it....Smile
i know how you feel regarding takeaways, but with determination and willpower ... you will get to your target weigh in no time !!!!

i have been really good today, maybe had an extra syn or 2 Blush as had some chocs at work leftover from xmas !!!

woahthere · 17/01/2011 23:09

too right about the dancing, might have replaced the calories with cocktails though...oopps! I have been ok today but then my partner got the cashews out, and im doing my tax return which makes me nibble because i get all anxious. Boy oh boy, I cannot wait until nicer weather so I can just go out walking in the evening again. I know when I do that I get losing a lb a day because I dont munch and Im exercising as well. We're about the same desiretochange! so good motivation for each other! How are you planning to lose the weight? x
I def get bad ibs zazza, its vile and so painful. I cant eat pasta, white bread or too much of any bread, rice with meat at the same time or even lots of vegetables with meat...or oranges! Which is why slimming world isnt great for me because of the eating lots of pasta one day etc, which is the whole beauty of sw from what i can tell. South Beach WORKS but youve got to be so strict and Im being shoddy about it, I need to go shopping though so its harder. Let us know your weight desire, I will weigh on Saturday I think xxxxxx

Thanks for welcome Zazza and Whoa, am trying calorie controlled diet as set out by a TV programme here in Ireland called Operation Transformation, am on Day 3,but have been off acohol since 1st January so getting weighed this evening to see if this has kick-started any weight loss Hmm

zazzabeans · 18/01/2011 12:25

i feel for you woahthere its awful... doctors arent sure what it is and havent told me to avoid certain foods.... i find windeze helps ever so slightly.
cashew nuts are well nice but so high in fat! up until a certain age i actually thought when diets said plenty of fruit/nuts it meant salted peanuts Hmm Blush needless to say i never have them now, although i really like them Sad
desiretochange how many calories are you sticking to? after i had dd1 i stuck to 1200 cals per day for a month and lost about a stone, but was starving Sad
i dont drink alcohol, only when i have a night out, which is very rare , i just overeat!
i have been on numerous diets over last 10 year but this time i feel different, i have was prescribed prozac 2weeks ago for anxiety and feel really positive, despite reading that prozac can increase appetite.... i wont let it !

tammybear · 18/01/2011 18:27

I weighed myself today and have lost 3lbs Grin I've also got a couple of exercise videos, one of which I'm going to try out when DD is in bed as I don't think Wii Fit is enough to help keep the lbs off!

Zazzabeans, prozac affects people differently. When I was on it, I didn't have an increase in appetite, so hopefully it won't affect you either.

woahthere, you don't have to stick to just pasta with slimming world. I rarely ate pasta when I use to do it. I use to be able to do steak dinners, roast dinners, etc, and you can eat as much meat as you want rather than pasta or potatoes.

desiretochange, well done for going this far without alcohol.

desiretochange · 19/01/2011 10:04

Got weighed last night and actually weigh 12st 4lb, my target at minute is to lose 10% of this, which would leave me at 11 stone, and then ....

surreygirl · 19/01/2011 19:07

Well I haven't done too much walking this week but will aim to do some tomorrow/Fri/weekend.

Went on scales on Sunday and I was up to 11st 12 so had put on 4lbs in a week, this morning I was 11st 9 Hmm Did have some wine on Sat/Sun so definitely gonna go teetotal for a while!! Thankfully have no biscuits/cake in the house anymore!!! Thinking that toilet training DS at the moment isn't helping me lose weight as difficult to go out and there's chocolate around for him as a treat when he uses the loo/potty.... so the chocolate is out of my sight now... So really kicking my arse into gear for diet from tomorrow.

woahthere · 19/01/2011 22:27

thats good desiretochange...a lot less than you were.
im not being virtuous with my dieting, but, i have done lots more walking the past few days, and even did a workout today. not losing weight yet i dont think, but my head is in a better place i think x

desiretochange · 20/01/2011 10:15

Thanks Woah, it's so cold here that I haven't got into walking yet, have been on my wobbler and hoping that shakes some of the lard off Grin

zazzabeans · 20/01/2011 11:27

well im still sticking to my diet :-) these prozac are good at keeping me focused as i normally cant last 2 days on a diet !!!! and my appetite has stayed the same, maybe even decreased a little !!!
haveent been excercising as much as i would like but hoping to get to the gym at the weekend.
iv got a session with my a self help councillor later on today, for my anxiety so will walk there and bck about 45 mins in total.... im feeling rather positive for once.
just hope that the wii board is accurate with my weight as it has been known to trick me in the past. will find out how much i have lost on sunday for definite!

Reesie · 21/01/2011 17:46

Hi - I haven't been on for a while as have been busy at home looking after dd2 who has had the dreaded swine flu and has been particularly rough.

I haven't had enough time to read everybodys posts but it's lovely to see new people on the thread.

I've fallen off the diet wagon over the last week and a half and have gained a pound - although am now back on track!!!!

woahthere · 22/01/2011 09:25

nice one zazza, glad the prozac are helping and fingers crossed for some weight loss. Reesie, I hope your daughter is better now, its abit hard to think about dieting when youre stuck at home. I have succeeded in putting on weight so I am now just below 13 stone. If I go above 13 stone I may have to kill myself, and I dont really want to do that so I better start being good now!. Need to get back to that 12stone 3 I was not long ago. I have been eating loads, 3 family birthdays in a row including my own equals lots of food, chocolate, booze and cake equals NOT GOOD!! I have been exercising though so its a start, going to do a workout now, no excuses! Sorry guys, i started this thread, I should have called it put on 3 stone and be a new person by next year Blush

OP posts:
zazzabeans · 23/01/2011 19:30

got weighed today at mils and im exactly 12 stone, so thats a weight loss of 7lb in 2weeks Grin
however had a pig out at mils, massive sunday dinner, gravy, yorkshires, roasties and a cream slice and 4 cadbury roses, then iv had a halp packet of soft pear drops from asda (cant resist them) and a pcket of prawn wotsits... nothing else for me today ... overindulged, but i know i can get back on it tomorrow Wink
it seems like the prozac are keeping me on the straight and narrow....

woahthere are you starting again tomorrow?

reesie half a pound is nothing Grin

hows everyone else doing?

woahthere · 23/01/2011 23:28

i bet you feel great zazza! yes back to it tomorrow, i have been quite good this weekend though and running around a lot, im not a dead loss yet! we have another birthday in our house tomorrow though...aaaah!!! More cake!!!

Reesie · 24/01/2011 04:51

well done zazza that's fab! It's great that you are getting on with your meds. I'm sure you will do well on your next weigh in.

Woahthere - you'll get back on track - it's great that you started the thread so you have to keep going for us!

Surrey - 11st 9lb!!! Fab - you were at about the same starting point as me and you have overtaken me! Keep at dropping the pouns as it'll give me a kick up the arse!

Desire - good luck with your first week - when is your weigh in?

Just a thought - when does everyone weigh - shall we do a co-ordinated day? I'm a saturday - but happy to change.

zazzabeans · 24/01/2011 08:41

i weigh in on a sunday ...
surreygirl whats your target weight? what height are you ?
im 5 foot 2 and all this extra weight makes me look quite big Sad
hoping to get down to 9 1/2 stone, but atm would be happy with 10 1/2.
desire hows your diet going?

im off to work now on a 9.30-9.30 and iv got my bag of food to go with lots of fruit and free foods Grin

felt really guilty last night knowing what i had ate, i was stuffed !! i went to bed about 9.30 to avoid eating more lol

zazzabeans · 25/01/2011 14:10

hows everyone doing? Smile

surreygirl · 26/01/2011 19:33

I'm still 11st 9 but at least I haven't gained anything.

Iam SO bloody fed up with not being able to do much outside during the week with the weather being so crap (I'm a SAHM with a 4mnth old and almost 3yr old). Have got some small hand weights and a couple of old fitness DVDs which I'm going to dust off...and still plan to do more outside like walking loads/cycling when it stops raining and being so cold!!

Zazza, I'm 5ft 4 and want to be 9st 8lb - lost just under 2st within 1 month of having baby but then got stuck at 11st 10. None of my clothes fit and I am SO fed up now. Have stopped eating chocolate/biscuits/cakes, no alcohol, don't eat junk food anyway or chips/crisps and have really been trying to be good with chicken, veggies, fish, wholemeal pasta and no creamy sauces, no bread. I think age is definitely a factor as I'm in my earlyish 40s, definitely harder to shift it than when I was in my 20s!!

zazzabeans · 26/01/2011 21:09

its hard with kids isnt it? iv gor ds whos 8 and dd1 whos 3 and dd2 whos 2.
i got used to eating leftovers etc.
i went to kettlebell lastnight and im aching like mad today. think iv lost another pound Grin
have you tried slimmingworl? its great , what about alli tablets? i lost 11lb in 3 weeks last year Grin

desiretochange · 27/01/2011 12:23

Hello everyone, have a pound on this week, now now weigh 12st 5lb, was really good for half the week, and then was out on Saturday night, had a few drinks, and spent next 3 days eating so am probably lucky I only put on a pound, am now firmly back in the game again and hopeing to have that pound and maybe one more off at weigh in next Tuesday

surreygirl · 27/01/2011 13:40

Thanks Zazzabeans, have a friend who did well on Alli tablets too...I've never done Slimming World/Weight Watchers etc., though my Mum did brilliantly with WW but think I may give one of them a go... I think it'll be better when the sun is actually out for once as I get more enthusiastic about going out for a walk rather than being a couch potato watching daytime telly Wink

zazzabeans · 27/01/2011 14:04

i could give you a few tips/menus for the slimming world diet if you like Smile

woahthere · 28/01/2011 13:50

Hello everyone, Im back in the zone....ate no chocolate yesterday...this is a first since October 2010 and stuck to my South Beach Diet, top tip for a yummy low fat/carb/cal lunch..I made soup using leeks, celery and brocolli cooked in water and stock, whizzed it up so it was a thick soup and added half a tin of tuna, sounds disgusting but as I slurped it up I thought it was really yummy. Another top tip is if you grate cucumber for your salad instead of just chopping it you dont need to add a load of dressing or salad cream or mayo because it makes it really moist, and you FEEL like you are being good to yourself just by eating it. I then had a chicken breast cooked with courgette and onion, the rest of my soup thrown in to use it up and a bit of chicken gravy with mashed up cauliflower (instead of potato) it was yummy. Today I had eggs for breakfast, cabbage, green bean and spring onion soup, some chicken breast for a snack and have been drinking loads and loads of water. I think the shock of a new, sudden very deep wrinkle has shocked me and made me realise I cant keep eating crap everyday and drinking wine every night. Will weigh tomorrow, dont think I'll have gone down much yet but hey ho. I was wondering about alli tablets too, Ive got some left from last year, they didnt do anything for me then but that was because I figured out I could drink loads of wine because wine has no fat in itGrin arent I sneaky. But now Im being good it may boost things. I'm also taking lots of vitamins and one especially for hair skin and nails, Im thinking it will help if Im a bit low in anything to make feel better and more motivated.
Its a beautiful day today, makes me want to go out and walk, but after having just been for a fast walk for 3o minutes and not warming up at all it made me realise that the sun is deceptive, it is so bloody cold out there. Let me know how you get on tomorrow Reesie and I'll let you know how I got on too! xxxx
