People pretending not to notice your weight loss

A friend of mine has lost a lot of weight and looks fantastic. I had not seen her for a few months and was astounded by the amount of weight she had lost. However, she told me that no-one not even her dh had noticed her weight loss which i find a bit strange as she has obviously lost a significant amount of weight. I told her that i believed that people were envious of her weight loss and therefore did not want to comment on it.
What do others think, have you experienced this? My friend has been tempted to give up on her weight loss plan because no one had noticed her weight loss.

I know how she feels.. I lost seven stone and not one person commented!

It seems there is a magic pound, and once you lose that all of a sudden everyone notices.. that happened to me and others have said similar.

Tell her to please not give up, she's doing so much good for her own self, her health and her self esteem :)

I love the thought of a magic pound, I've lost nearly 4 stone and its only people that haven't seen me in a while that have said anything. TAOB - come over to the 'started slimming world part 2' thread, we are a friendly bunch and are doing various diets Grin

I had something called a Duodenal Switch, my stomach was made smaller and my intestines shortened.. it's not the same as a gastric bypass.

I've lost 16 stones in total.

Shock well done! amazed at your achievement CCT.

On a much smaller scale, I lost 3 stone, over 2 years, and I was always gutted when people I hadn't seen for ages didn't make any comment. Although I suspect it may be out of manners, because by saying that they had noticed I had lost weight, it suggests they had noticed I was a bit porky to begin with. I much prefer when people say I look great, without any reference to weight.

I always found that the people who commented were the ones who I didn't want to; the leery bloke at work; the gossipy cleaner at work, who wanted to know how much I lost (like I was going to say Hmm) etc.

Sadly, the pounds have crept on, so it's not an issue I need to worry about at the moment. Blush
