Really annoyed at all these 30 day shred threads

How did I miss what they were about? I never clicked on them as I assumed they were about people shredding bills etc so as not to have drawers of crap at home and people were happy at feeling much "lighter" because of this.....

I have now realised whilst searching for a dvd to help me lose a stone what they are...

Can someone please summarise what it is briefly and what I need to buy.

TIA Smile

Dvd from amazon. you will need hand weights as well ( got mine from Amazon as free postage, I got mixed set. ) basically it's 20 mins every day. There ARE 3 LEVELS YOU WILL NEED ABOUT 10 DAYS AT EACH LEVEL . iT'S FAIRLY HARD CORE BUT VERY DO-ABLE AND ,MORE IMPORTANTLY , gREAT FUN. gAH SORRRY.
I did it every day for the 30 days , others have done it 4 times a week. I lost about 7lbs and changed my shape a LOT.
I kept a diary of how i felt after each session . Can't recommend it highly enough.

these but I was sure I would use them for years. You can start off with cans or bottles of water.

suitable for seriously overweight people with bad backs and knees?

trumpton · 08/12/2010 09:52

Take it slow and I don't see why not. link on you tube for taster

I am not sure it is good for people that are very overweight and have bad knees. Its quite high impact so a lot of weight coming down. You could for instance not do the jumping jacks and do something low impact. You have to gradually overload the body so if you didn't do any exercise before anything is better than nothing and you do have to eat well. Also weight training is fab and is on the dvd.

I made my back worse doing the dvd. I have just started doing it again now my back is better.

Davina Mcoll dvds are just as god imo . i have lost 5 stone and it is staying off

Joby1970 · 08/12/2010 13:15

IVORYTOWER. on the DVD Jillian says she has people weighing 400lbs doing jumping jacks! So no excuses lol

ivorytower · 08/12/2010 17:27

I know she said that but I know if I was 400lbs I wouldn't want to do them! Alright for her to say that. Grin

Its a lot of stress on the joints.

DilysPrice · 08/12/2010 17:37

Should be doable if you are seriously overweight, as long as you apply some common sense, back problems probably OK, but depends on exactly what your problem is.
Knees are more of an issue, and you should probably take medical advice because there's some pretty high impact stuff, and although you can swap in some low impact variants it might get quite dull if you're swapping all the jumping jacks / high knees / jumps for squatting punches.
Good trainers will help.
