I'm an ex-Slimming World dieter, but I've just joined Weight Watchers as SW seems kinda 'old hat' now and I've just become too blase about it to stick to it properly. So I thought a new plan would shake things up and get me focussed again.

I've joined online. It's given me 29 points. And that's it. No advice, no clue as to what food is worth what, or what food are 'free'. There's a calculator, but do they seriously want me to go through my entire food cupboard and enter all the protein/carb etc values of everything I eat? WTF? How does anyone ever get started on this plan without just giving up at the enormity of the talk?

I'm also surprised to see that I can't customise my profile to say I'm vegetarian so that their menu plan suggestions are suitable for what I actually eat.

Seriously considering cancelling already.....

And exercise too.... I've added 23 points worth of exercise today (did a very long race - I'm a runner). So does that mean I can eat 23 points more food? Or are the exercise points just to feel smug about?

OOooooh, now I've noticed they want me to buy a £60 kit to allow me to follow the plan.

I repeat? WTF?!?!?!

You can search the database when you're entering food into the ProPoints tracker. Just click on 'add food' for the appropriate meal, type the name in and it'll bring up some options.

Sometimes, though, you just have to put in the information.

Don't forget you get 49 extra points per week.

I'm pretty sure it used to let you change to/from vegetarian, but I can't see it just yet. I'll have a play and see if I can find it.

WAs thinking of this.

You have completely put me off

AnnieLobeseder · 21/11/2010 19:43

Seriously? I have to search for or enter all foods?

Fuck that! I'm heading back to Slimming World! All you have to know there is that bread/cereals = B and you get two of them, A = dairy and you get two of them, all fruit and veg free. Couldn't be simpler!

Can't blame you - they've just changed from Points to ProPoints and I'm on a steep learning curve!

I remember SW was quite straightforward - I did it 15-odd years ago, so I see what you mean!
