Gave up smoking - nearly two weeks now after a lifetime of smoking. Very proud but was overweight before and am now piling it on. 5' 4" and just about 14 stone!!

Need to cut down (out) on wine. In the past I have found low carb diets the best. Clearly I need to do one for a while!

Ok with no fruit but like my veg. Can anyone suggest a diet for me. Atkins a bit expensive and I don't think it is a long term one although that is the type I did before and I felt good on it. I will be able to increase my exercise after end of this week too (on a writing deadline) so that will help.

Well done for giving up smoking!
I can't do Atkins style no carb diets but I find reducing your carbs AND fat works really well.
Just eat healthily and try eating your evening meal with no pasta/rice/potatoes.
Once you cut alcohol and crap you'll start to lose weight anyway.
Good luck!

Buy yourself a small plate - after a very short while you will realise that you don't need all the stuff you heep on your plate and will be full from just a small portion and you will lose the weight easily.

I probably eat about the same as DD for a meal and she is 10 and really I don't need anything else - if I get hungry a small handful of nuts gets rid of the pangs or a big glass of squash and and apple.

ALso stop drinking artificial sweetners - I did about 6 months ago - stopped anything with them in and that really helped with losing weight.
