I got the shock of my life when I got on the scales last week - touching 16 stone. I am tallish 5 foot 10 and people say I don't look my weight but this is no consolation. I have never been this heavy. I comfort eat when I feel down polishing off pringles (my fav) without a thought.

How do I stay away from this sort of thing and motivate myself to lose weight? Have started walking everywhere which is all I can manage cos I fractured my pelvis a long time ago in an RTA. Cut out all the crap had porridge for breakfast.

Anyone any ideas that may help me?

Walking is a really good start. Can you go for a walk around a park or somewhere green?
Its meant to uplift your mood so theoretically, you should have less 'down' days.
Exercise is a good for moods too.
Personally, I only lose weight when I combine exercise and healthy eating. I'm a comfort eater too and exercise definitely helps me to need less comfort from food!

I don't need much either - just 30 mins about 3-4 times a week.

Good luck!

Thanks Shaxx

I live in the country and everywhere is green so no shortage of mood therapy. I am walking 3-4 hours everyday - walk my little boy to nursery 0.75 miles there & 0.75 miles back. Walked to Tesco and back 2m x 2 (not that easy with heavy bags) Did not go down the crisps or confectionery aisle and avoided ice cream in the frozen section. Got grapes, melon and plums instead and a family stir fry pack for tonight. I am hungry now so I am going to try my nice fruit.

Why is it some folk lose weight when thet are anxious but people like me comfort eat instead....
