Got on the scales this morning - that was stupid

Okay, so I know there are far more important things in life to worry about, but when I got on the scales this morning I was so pissed off that the last few weeks spent dieting and exercising have resulted in absobloodylutely nothing. In fact, I have put on 4 pounds since the start of September! How can this be right? I have been to the gym 4 times in the last week - surely that's got to count for something! I can see that I have lost inches, so should I just focus on that and the fact that my clothes are looser? It's just demoralising to step on the scales and not see the needle stopping at the right number!Sad

we have this problem in weight watchers, ladies and men who go the gym seem to loose inches and not pounds and then after several weeks about 4/5,they start to loose the weight again,so carry on for another week and then try weighing again, you might get a nice suprise and well done you..

Thanks, Lil - that was helpful. I did whinge to DH about it, too, who said that perseverance is really the key, so I suppose I'll just have to hang in there.

You are converted fat into muscle. Soon you will get to the fat that can't be converted and start losing again.
I lost 11 inches for about half a stone.

When I went to WeightWatchers a couple of years back it was a really common complaint that starting exercise seriously stopped weight loss for a couple of weeks, then it started coming off big time again.
