Does the ATKINS diet actually work, and do you get lots of headaches?

I've managed to lose a stone so far being sensible and cutting down massively.

I'm thinking of trying something different over the next few weeks to give my diet another kick start as I'm getting bored and I'm worried my weight loss is slowing.

SO, does it work?
How much can you eat?
What can you eat?

IMPORTANT(!), do you still have energy to run around after four children?????

I think people get the headaches because they stop drinking tea/coffee,so it's a headache from caffine withdrawal not a result of low carb.

Mummalish · 27/10/2010 16:22

I really think it is withdrawal from carbs, which are addictive.

The reason why I think so is because I got awful headaches for 2 days, but was still drinking my usual amount of tea and coffee.

Having 2 days of feeling rubbish was all worth it though, as am over the worst bit.

One quick question, when you're looking at the carbs on food packaging, do you count total carbs, or of which sugars?

I count total carbs.

I just bought myself a bag of pork scratchings (I've never had those before). Was just keen for a nibble. They were quite nice in a horrible kind of way:)

Well done on the weight loss. How are you feeling?

For lunch, I am having: 3 egg omelette, with grated cheese, one roast chicken breast, chopped with mayonnaise, guacomole and chopped tomato.

Although to be honest, am already stuffed just from the pork scratchings.

Dare I say it, I feel fine!! No headaches, no hunger, no cravings. I even managed to go to Cadbury World yesterday and not eat any chocolate, I didn't even lick my fingers after posting a chocolate button into DD2's mouth!!

Mmm pork scratching, I haven't had those since I was a child!

I had a cheese omelette for breakfast, and for lunch I'm having a smoked haddock fillet with some spinach leaves - yum!

This diet is genius!!
