i would think its better for you - less additives to keep shop bought ones last longer - but pound for pound ! i'd say the calories are just as good

mumtosomeone · 10/09/2005 07:37

yes but better calories?!!!

wishful thinking

it is surprising how much cakes and biscuits can vary in calories, it is worth reading the labels of shop bought ones.

eg chocolate coated lebkuchen are a good choice because they're low fat.

I don't know about cake but generally there are fewer calories in home made foods than the ready made equivalent (pies, curries, pizza, pasta dishes etc)and the calories are also less empty.

Nightynight · 10/09/2005 21:18

I meant about homemade cakes being less calorific.

I'd say calories are probaly the same but nutritonally home made is better no chemicals or fillers etc -- and they taste better!
