Maintaining...

I lost 3 stone since January, for which I'm eternally grateful (I don't know why I didn't do it years ago, it was hard, but totally worth it!).

I've been maintaining a weight of 70kg (give or take a kg) for 6 weeks now, and haven't found it hard at all, although I'm aware that I'm going to have to watch what I eat for the rest of my life now.

What are your techniques for maintaining your weight? What have you found does and doesn't work? Do you ever get tempted to try and lose more weight?

I find it hard to maintain in the sense that I am bow scared to eat 'bad' foods incase I gain but in the meantime keep losing! Slowly, but losing all the same! I think I have also become so used to my diet lifestyle that I can't take my self off it so to speak. I lost 3 stone between march 08 and July 08 and was give or take 58kg - I then put on a couple of kg and now since about 4 weeks ago and a holiday looming I went back to slimfast and lost lbs so am now 54kg which I love, but don't want to gain and don't want to lose more so am stuck on 2 shakes a day and a nice meal in the evening with 2/3 100 cal snacks during the day. A 30 minute spree on my stepper each evening...and honestly I'm scared that if I stop I'll gain!

Would be interested in reading what others are doing to maintain.

Google Paul Mckenna and change yr attitude to food. It works and it's NOT a diet!!!

Conratulations on your brilliant weight loss everyone.
I too have lost quite a bit of weight and am lighter than Ive been in 8 years and thats after 3 kids.
I followed weightwatchers and am still sticking to my daily points allowance but have decided to have a day off a week, so say on a Sunday I might have a full fat roast and a pudding with wine. If Im good all week and have a blowout day then I guess Ill maintain that way???

I also do a 25 minute run 3 times a week.

I've lost 3 stone too, and although I'd like to lose another 7lb I'm fairly happy where I am as a large 10/small 12. The things that help keep me here are lots of exercise - especially running - it seems to stop me eating large portins or bingeing. Also not being too hard on yourself at weekends but sticking to what was the diet during the week seems to work. Weigh in Every Friday, and return to stricter measures for a week if all else fails. I really want to stay this way now ( over 10 years I've lost and regained twice before) The joy of pulling on the size 10 skinny jeans and looking good when I only had two pairs of old trackybottoms to cover my lardy arse in March
if just too good to let things slip again.
