How much weight loss to drop a dress size?

I'm 5'5, currently weigh 11 stone 5 and am a (generous) size 14. I'd really like to be a 12. How much weight do you reckon I'd need to lose to achieve this? I'd like to set myself a realistic goal. Thanks

OOh, you're my height and weight and I am currently bordering 14 and 16 as have put on weight recently. For me, I am size 12 when I weight 10 stone and comfortable 14 when I weigh 10.5. HTH

ValiumSingleton · 19/09/2010 11:58

about ten pounds I'd guess.

FoundWanting · 19/09/2010 12:05

I'm 5'5" and weigh 10 stone 3 and am a size 12 usually.

Of course it depends where you shop!

duckyfuzz · 19/09/2010 17:59

I'm 5'7 and recently lost nearly 2 stone to go from a generous 14 (verging on 16) to a comfy 12 (10 in some shops, top half only!)

if it's dress size you're more bothered about, just go by that (or inches round waist). A few years ago (pre-DCs) I lost 2-3 dress sizes and barely lost a pound!

sapphireblue · 20/09/2010 18:52

I think it's supposed to be 10lbs.......It really differs from person to person though IMO. I weigh 4 stone more than I did 4 years ago but am only 2 dress sizes bigger, so I guess that's 2 stone per dress size!

navyeyelasH · 20/09/2010 18:57

it depends on your build, 6lbs is a dress size in me, hourglass shape.

Weightwatchers reckon 10lb is a dress size

roses12 · 20/09/2010 21:46

ooh i'd love a flatter belly. i'm 5 5 too. Im size 12 and 10stone 5 if i go under 10 then i'm size 10. size 8 in tesco. Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/09/2010 21:58

i would say 10lbs, thought i lost 4stone and went from a 18 to a 12

so maybe a stone per dress size

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 20/09/2010 22:02

I mentally reckon about a stone per dress size; that seems to work out about right for me.

Northumberlandlass · 21/09/2010 13:48

I agree with Blondes. I think a stone a dress size is about right.

I have been running for over 6 months now and have lost 1 stone 5 lbs, gone from 20-22 to 18 but my shape has changed loads, I've lost my arse somewhere along the way Grin
