Anyone lost weight doing the Davina DVDs?

I've just bought a couple of Davina McCall's work out DVDs, and have to say I am enjoying them, but just wondering if anyone has lost any weight doing them? I would ideally like to lose 1 1/2 stone.

Davina dvd's are good workouts, but will only go so far in helping with weightloss which comes down to about 80% diet and 20% exercise. As long as you are eating a fairly healthy and balanced diet then the interval type workouts davina does will help raise your fitness levels and begin to build some lean muscle which will help to raise your metabolism. Try not to worry about the numbers on the scales too much though and try measuring yourself or use the fit of your clothes to judge how the workouts are making a difference.

Thanks LostGirl. My diet is relatively healthy but am now going to cut out sugar, watch my portion sizes and limit my bread intake. Hopefully this will help too.

Sounds good. Drink loads of water throughout the day, and try and eat a meal or a healthy carb/protein snack within an hour of doing your exercise as this will help your body get the most out of it. Hope you get the results you are after Smile

Thanks again LostGirl. Sorry, just one more question (as you clearly know more about this excercise lark than me!)...I normally excercise in the evening around 8.30pm (after I've had my dinner at around 6.30pm). Do you think it matters what time of day you excercise? I'd be loathe to do it in the morning as I'm already up at 6.20am for work!!

NO, the important thing is to fit it in when you can and the best time will be different for everyone. I do think it is important to try and have a small snack afterwards though as this is when your body needs protein and carbs to help the muscles rebuild and grow stronger. Good for you for motivating yourself to get on and do it at 8.30, by that time by bum is stuck to the sofa and there is no moving me Grin

I have, but I was calorie counting too. I've always liked her DVDs.

spudmasher · 24/08/2010 17:11

I really like her DVDs BUT for the first few times I must have completely over done it because I had quite a lot of soreness the next day................ouch. Be careful. The exercises are powerful.

I have never dieted in my life. I do eat healthily but have never restricted or managed what I eat.

I lost 1.5 stones after having dd from doing Davina's dvds. They're good fun and yes they do work.

BusyMissIzzy · 24/08/2010 17:39

Wow, that's impressive NamedAfter, well done you! Do you mind if I ask how long it took you?

Btw, I should clarify, when I say "calorie counting" I don't mean sticking to some ridiculously low-calorie diet, I just mean keeping track so as not to overeat. I've always believed that eating sensibly and exercising are the best ways to lose weight and keep it off.

LostGirl · 25/08/2010 16:24

Likewise, when I said '80% diet 20% exercise', I meant diet as in 'healthy balanced eating', not following some fad low calorie 'diet'. I was just trying to say that doing the dvd's won't have a great effect if you are eating more than you need of the wrong foods.
