Bigger bum than my mum!

Eeeek! Just dscovered that I weigh more than my mum, who is two inches taller than me. For some reason that is working as a lose-weight incentive far more than any height/weight chart ever has.
Don't really fancy re-joining Slimming World though as group leader is SO uninspiring...

Oh yes arabica. One of the best incentives I ever had was when my dad remarked that I was getting 'broad in the beam' - even though he is well overweight and no oil painting and always feels it fine to comment on everyone else.

We always want to please our parents so badly, don't we?

Maybe I should get him to say it again as my arse is even bigger than it was then these days.

Yes, good idea and get him to do it at a time when you feel particularly insecure. My mum's got a habit of giving backhanded compliments, such as, 'X down the road has a nice top like yours...it's a lovely flattering length if you've got a bit of a tum, isn't it? Grrrr.

My mum wouldn't dream of saying anything to me, but she's a superfit size 10 and I'm, um, not.

Arabica · 28/08/2005 12:21

Yeah, at least my mum's too lazy to exercise!!! That makes me feel better.

ah yes, can sympathise. My mum is a size 6/8 and I'm a 12/14. Grrr. Not helped that my sister is a 8/10 either.

Oh god, what is it about Mothers. Mine always used to refer to me as "a big girl" when we went into clothes shops.

My cheeks still burn at the thought now

Arabica · 28/08/2005 22:52

I was described as 'well covered' whatever that means! And I wasn't even remotely overweight.
