Has anyone lost 3-4 stones by following the Slim Fast diet? I am thinking of doing this to try and get about 4 stones off for christmas, is it realistic?

I did follow it many years ago for a month and nothing happened.. any advice please?

NO, but I was looking today at it in Boots, as I want to shift some pounds, but now I have read it did nothing for you after a month I do wonder!

4 stone by Xmas is a lot and probably very unreasltic whatever the diet. Which I know sucks.

I did it for 2 weeks once with a friend and neither of us lost anything and we both felt bunged up!

You can lose a stone per 6 weeks with healthy eating so you can shift 3 stones for sure. If you exercise too, you'll tone up and look like you've lost more than you have.

I have tried every darned diet there is and the only thing that works really well for me, and keeps me sane, is eating healthily and reducing my carbs, especially bread stuff.

Those things are rubbish. If you do lose weight, you just pile it all back on again afterwards as your metabolism is so knackered.

Best thing is, have really small meals with lots of fruit, nuts etc as healthy snacks in between to keep you going, and something nice (e.g. fruit yogurt, exotic fruit salad, small "healthy" crumble) for evening dessert so that you finish the day off on a positive note. And lots of fruit/herbal teas to take the edge off. Plan everything in advance (I usually write out a meal plan for the entire week and ONLY buy that stuff) - that way it's cheaper and you're much less likely to stray.

And aim to do exercise every single day - even if it's just going for a 20 min power walk, but try and REALLY push it at least once or twice a week. You won't manage every day, but if you're aiming/planning something every day, you'll find that you do something most days.

I lost a stone a month in Feb/Mar this year by doing this (from size 18 to size 12/14). The small, frequent meals really kick-started my metabolism. Took a couple of days of feeling hungry to adjust, but was fine and pretty easy after that. Key for me was planning so that I wasn't making (usually bad) choices when hungry.
