I'm 5'7" and 14 1/2 stone. I'm also 50. What really undermines my weight loss efforts is that I'm so worried that if I lose weight (I would like to get down to about 11 stone) I'll just end up with folds of loose skin. If I lose weight slowly, and keep active (walking/swimming) could I avoid it, or have I left it too late?

If you do lots of walking/swimming etc, it should all tone up. It's only if you do a low calorie lighter life-type diet, that you would lose lots of weight quickly and be more prone to excess skin.
