Ok, bit of background - I usually follow a weight watchers eating plan. I lost about 4 stone about 3 years ago and have been maintaining since by following ww Mon-Fri and having what I want at the weekends.

Recently I have lost all motivation for exercise as well as diet and as I'm going on holiday in 5.5weeks I need to refocus.

I know that for my body trying to limit carbs is best but I LOVE carbs and always find it such a struggle!!!!!

Please can you help me refocus my mind and come up with some great ideas of how I can get my mojo back?

Wow, congratulations on losing 4 stone, that's brilliant.

As for refocussing - how often are you getting on the scales? I know WW don't recommend getting on the scales more than once a week but I find getting on every day really does focus me on my weight and I just hate it when it goes up!

Are you trying to lose weight for the holiday, or just make sure you don't put any on?

If you aren't trying to lose lots of weight then maybe just address either the carbs or the exercise. I'd probably go for upping the exercise cos that'll make you feel more toned for any bikini wearing...

ahhh thanks - the 4 stone was so long ago that I don't really remember being that big.

I used to get on the scales almost every morning but then I tried to limit it to once a week as I was getting obsessed. I actually haven't got on them for over a week at the moment but only because I was trying to give myself some time off.

I'm usually very focused and do some sort of exercise ever day whilst watching my diet - even this amount of dedication doesn't get me as slim as I'd like to be which is why I think I'm a bit disalusioned with the whole thing at the moment.

I've signed on with a personal trainer for next week in the hope that she will kick my arse.

I want to loose weight and feel great for our holiday but ultimatly this is a long term thing rather than a quick fix

If you love carbs, limit them to breakfast and lunch. No evening carbs is very effective especially if you can have a walk or do some exercise first thing in the morning before you eat.

ekkk I was going to do the exact opposite to that - no carbs for breakfast and lunch but some at dinner. I just can't seem to make an evening meal work without them but I'm fine with fruit, yoghurt, soup, salads etc for brekkie and lunch.

The idea would be to have carbs in the day time so you have time to burn them off.

Yogurt and fruit are definitely not low carb. Full fat Greek yogurt at a push would be ok.

Your trainer should be able to give you some nutritional guidance if that's what you want.

Good luck
