Hi,

I can't find a new starters thread for October 2026 for mounjaro jab. Is there one and if not does anyone want to join this one?

OP posts:

So i did get approved and its now in the fridge. But I've come down with a bad head cold and not sure whether i should wait til I'm better or not. I was intending to start on a Sunday but I would like to start soon. If not Sunday then possibly I would have to go for Thursday this week.

I wouldn't inject until you feel better. You won't want the side effects on top of already feeling run down.

KuduQueen · 17/10/2026 17:39

I also did my second injection yesterday. My main side effect since I started is a dry mouth and feeling more thirsty than usual.

In your position I would personally wait until the cold has cleared, so I would myself start on Thursday- with already being under the weather it might be harder to spot any side effects (hopefully none!) but that's what I would do.

Another October starter here, have done two injections so far. Due my third. I'm struggling with a day of nausea the day after the injection. Am going to try peppermint tea to try and make it more tolerable! Also going to delay injection by a day this week so nausea day is a less busy work day.
Definitely going to re-order the 2.5mg strength.
Otherwise going well so far, food noise gone.

Londonnight · 18/10/2026 07:11

I have lost 2lb, putting me into the next stone bracket, which I am very happy with.

I wasn't expecting to feel so rough this past week though with stomach cramps and nausea I as the first two I had no issues. I did speak to my pharmacist who said it is normal and it will go, which it has.
Jab 4 today of 2.5mg and hoping that I don't get the same side effects again as I am not sure that I can carry on if I do.
I did get some peppermint capsules which really helped, thank you @LilyBunch25 for recommending them.

Also speaking to the pharmacist I am going to stay on 2.5mg as at the moment I don't want to risk going up and having worse side effects.

stillworkingonit · 18/10/2026 08:25

I hope jab 4 is easier, still early days. It seems to be do unpredictable how people react to them. I am going to hold off til I feel properly well, hopefully it'll still be an Oct start for me.

I'm really glad the peppermint oil helped! 😊 side issue I've just established that I need to exclude onions from my diet for a while- I've had some in small quantities in 3 of my meals this week and worked out they've caused really bad bloating and discomfort so they're off the menu for a while. When I thought back to when I was on MJ last year before I stopped due to cost I did also have issues with onions then too 🙈

Good idea to carefully choose jab day. I don't work Fridays atm so I jab on a Thu evening.

Telescopichair · 18/10/2026 20:54

Had my 2nd injection Thursday. No side effects at all but am struggling to eat, just no appetite at all. Had a long talk with chatgpt so now have a personalised eating plan which seems manageable. Will also talk to my prescriber tomorrow(local Day Lewis) who has been brilliant so far.

Spaniels4Eva · 19/10/2026 09:46

I did 4 small meals yesterday and found that worked better in terms of keeping the nausea at bay (has been awful this weekend) and also in terms of taking calories on board. I don't think I've been eating enough for the last few days and just generally felt very bleugh yesterday all day. Hoping today is a better day.

Fradishes · 19/10/2026 10:27

Morning! Please may I join? I have just done my first injection of MJ after putting it off for weeks. Bit of an anticlimax 😄now sitting nervously as if something is about to happen… Not sure what!!!

I have 6 stone to lose (BMI 37) so I’m hoping this goes ok. The weight has crept on over the last 10 years or so. (Except for the last stone which seemed to just appear overnight in August! Definitely a sign something needed to change). Signing up for BodyPump but I’ve always struggled with exercise other than walking and swimming so quite nervous about that too 😆

IlovetoKnitandRead · 19/10/2026 22:18

Today was the first day I have felt slightly uncomfortable. I have had acid reflux after a stronger than usual coffee today. I felt uncomfortably full after my main meal this evening( I wasn’t able to finish it) . So no coffee for me going forward and I need to buy some peppermint tea for the evenings. Going to the toilet every two days while supplementing with psyllium capsules daily.

3rd jab day today, so I weighed for the first time as I've got a phone consultation with my private GP on Friday. Slightly amazed that I weighed just under 94kg from 100kg in 3 weeks. Although some of those 100kg had been rapid weight gain in the few weeks before I was weighed so I'm glad they disappeared as quickly as they arrived. Will be sticking to the 2.5mg again as very pleased at the effect it's having so far.

Whoever recommended the peppermint oil, thank you so much. Mine arrived yesterday and have already made my stomach feel so much more comfortable and the nausea has almost gone.

stillworkingonit · 22/10/2026 10:55

Really helpful seeing how everyone is doing. I did my first jab today. So far, had a much smaller breakfast than normal and not feeling hungry yet. Its probably about 250 calories less than normal so I'm surprised at that. I'm going to try 4 small meal/snacks to hope that prevents nausea. Also aiming for 3 litres water per day, as I know from previous diets that really suits my frame. If this stops me snacking from 5pm then that will be a huge change. I feel a bit weird and a burping a bit more but nothing hugely different. But its only been 4 hrs 😆

KuduQueen · 22/10/2026 13:18

It's really great to hear how everyone is getting on here and to get your tips so thank you. Some great weight loss already by others so well done. I am due to have my third injection tomorrow so 2 weeks in and other than dry mouth and thirst no new side effects so far. However I do feel more lethargic than usual. Anyone else experiencing that? I am not feeling hungry much and being vegetarian am struggling to meet my protein target of 100g. I have high protein yoghurt and veggie protein powder and try to eat high protein food but it's still a struggle. I am not vegan but don't like eggs which doesn't help. Any tips welcome.

Spaniels4Eva · 22/10/2026 13:26

I'm also vegetarian and can't eat eggs. I have protein powder for breakfast with either milk or yogurt. Those small bags of Quorn or Tempeh protein bites are quite handy and very filling with a salad at lunch and some cubes of feta cheese. I also use Bosh nutritional yeast on all my cooking at home. I've been making either stir fries or something like chilli for tea with quorn mince and lots of tinned beans or lentils that are protein rich.

If you're tired you may be lacking in b vitamins - I take a Floradix liquid iron dose every day just to make sure my iron levels stay up.

PerpetualWhite · 22/10/2026 17:51

Hi everyone, I’ve taken the plunge and ordered MJ which arrived today. Pretty easy process to be assessed which surprised me. I’ve tried all sorts of healthy ways to lose weight and keep yo-yoing from obese to overweight on my BMI but nothing works long term. So I’ve planned my meals and exercise and will start the jab on Saturday so I have the weekend to manage any initial symptoms. Hoping to lose 2-3 stone to get to healthy BMI and by then my food and exercise regime should be embedded so I can stick to it.

Fradishes · 22/10/2026 20:51

Hi all! I saw a lovely helpful message here but it seems to have disappeared, @alexa37 if it was yours thank you so much for tips and encouragement!! I’ve no idea why it would be deleted but I did read it and was v grateful, unfortunately we had a WiFi outage before I could reply!

Since my first jab on Monday I’ve been swinging between thinking it’s not doing anything much and feeling like it is actually really helping already. I think I naively thought it would suddenly be really easy to stick to the right foods and portion sizes straight away! I do think it is easier but not effortless, I’m finding I’m still getting hungry 1-2 hours after eating the smaller, non-carby meals, but the hunger definitely not all-consuming any more. I’ll be glad to go up to 5mg though.

I haven’t had too many side effects apart from lots of burping and strangely insomnia on the first night - very unusual for me. I am feeling less tired and achy, not sure if this is medication or much less sugar!

stillworkingonit · Yesterday 13:29

24 hrs in and currently it feels like a magic fix. Only v mild nausea that goes with small snacks and peppermint tea. Last night I looked at food and for the first time in my life it was just an object. Not something to tempt or torment or resist. This feels very strange and I don't quite believe it but if this works I feel so sorry for all the pointless dieting I subjected myself to. Like others, getting protein in feels hard. Having to have multiple yoghurt snacks just to get enough in. Fingers crossed this lasts without side effects...
I agree its not effortless though. I think I could easily skip meals and then end up too hungry and eating too much or the wrong things so I'm still having to work hard at thinking about what I eat and portion. But it suddenly feels easier to do that compared to the decades I spent trying to do the same.

MardyCardie · Yesterday 19:49

Really good to hear how everyone is getting on.
I delayed my third dose so the nausea day would happen on my day off - but no nausea yet post dose, yay. I'm hoping this is my body getting used to the drug and nausea will abate from now. Agree it seems like a magic fix, and I just don't think of food in the same way. I have lost 3kg and it would have taken huge willpower to do that in the past.
Thanks for your posts about protein - I need to think about this, and body pump - not ready for this yet but trying to do some pilates to start getting some strength.

IlovetoKnitandRead · Yesterday 22:08

Third jab done last night instead of tonight as I want to graduate to a Thursday. I had my usual Friday night half an Aldi stuffed crust cheese feast pizza and I had to leave a slice! I had some slight indigestion this morning.
I am ordering my next pen for 5 mg and will probably do a few more 2.5mg and then 3.75mg. The consensus on the another thread was that some people had regretted not getting the 5mg for the second pen. Weigh day tomorrow so I will use that as a guide too.

stillworkingonit · Yesterday 22:11

Can i ask why people regretted not getting the 5?

IlovetoKnitandRead · Today 10:11

@stillworkingonit some people found that after another couple of weeks on 2.5mg the suppression wore off and they then had to wait until the following month to go up to 5mg. By getting the 5mg pen as your second pen you could stay on 2.5mg with 30 clicks and then go up if you wanted. I am still undecided. I have lost 2.6 lbs this week which I am chuffed about. I feel full after most meals and I am not thinking about food. I can walk past cakes and chocolate and not snack so the 2.5mg is doing its stuff, but I think the option to stay on 2.5, go up to 3.75 or 5mg gives me more confidence for the next pen.
Is anyone changing suppliers for their next pen? I am with Medexpress, but LLoyds Pharamcy has accepted me and it is £50 cheaper as a new customer. I know some people chop and change suppliers but I am rather nervous to do this!

stillworkingonit · Today 10:50

Oh thank you thats really helpful to hear. Glad its working for you as well.
