Breakfast ideas on MJ and keeping calories low

Holidays2026 · 11/08/2026 10:17

I am not a big eater for breakfast.
I always have a homemade latte and, before MJ, I used to eat also a toast with flora and jam. That was enough until lunch time, with the addition of another latte at around 11am.
Now I am not sure on what to eat anymore. If I eat that toast, I will use already around 200 calories, which I would like to save for the rest of the day.
I am not a huge eater of eggs (at breakfast) or porridge and I do not like overnight oats, I am not keen on cereals like weetabix....
What does everyone eat? I am just looking for ideas. Many thanks! :)🙂

I do a fruit salad, apple, grapes, some melon and then a protein shake with collagen. It’s not my favourite but gets me started and very low calorie

PearlsTeapot · 11/08/2026 10:47

I have Tesco protein yogurt with blueberries and honey, although today I tried it with skinny syrup instead and it was nice. Sometimes add strawberries.

MoneyJo · 11/08/2026 12:04

I've never been a big breakfast eater and even less so now on MJ so I skip it and save the calories for later. I actually find 16:8 fasting works for me so I eat a high protein lunch about 12.30 and then dinner about 6.30 and that's it. Usually a couple of apples and satsumas some time in the day too.

goingdownhopefully · 11/08/2026 14:42

Greek yogurt, berries, seeds and a teaspoon of peanut butter.

Saturnista · 11/08/2026 15:45

I find a small bowl of bran flakes adds to my fibre levels and can keep any hunger away for a good few hours. If you don’t like that then how about yoghurt or a bagel and smoked salmon or something?

DBatteryBand · 11/08/2026 16:26

Greek yoghurt, raspberries and blueberries. I know it's more economical to buy a big pot of yoghurt but I buy individual pots instead so I don't need to think about portion size. They are about 120 calories per pot and I don't bother counting the calories in the fruit.

VividDeer · 11/08/2026 16:30

Tiny portion of high fibre cereal or nothing

Gassylady · 11/08/2026 16:31

There is probably more calories in two lattes than you might think. But no fibre and no micronutrients why not swap for lovely thick Greek yoghurt with berries/nuts seeds.

KittyMcKitty · 11/08/2026 16:33

I think it’s important to have protein. I have a black coffee with collagen powder in and around 150g of 0% fat Yeo Valley Greek Yogurt with raspberries and sometimes a sprinkling of homemade granola (much better then any shop bought and made with mixed nuts, pumpkin seeds, apricots, small bit maple syrup and coconut oil)

TheChosenTwo · 11/08/2026 16:33

I don’t eat breakfast but if I did and I wanted to keep my calories low I’d have some skyr yoghurt with berries. I think skyr is naturally high in protein and the berries will give it a bit of natural sweetness. Probably add some seeds for texture.

WeeklyJab · 11/08/2026 16:39

100g of Greek yogurt, 6 or 7 crushed pecans, a tablespoon of mixed sunflower and pumpkin seeds and whatever fruit I feel like - banana, apple, nectarine, blackberries (at the moment because we have loads)

It makes a small bowlful and keeps me going without feeling bloated.

WeAllHaveWings · 11/08/2026 16:40

One of the significant changes I have made to the diet and habits that, I believe, made me obese is to start eating a proper breakfast with a some protein.

The mindset of “save for the rest of the day” changed to trying to more evenly balanced with protein meals throughout day to keep sugar levels more balanced and prevent desire or cravings to snack mid morning, afternoon or evening.

I wouldn’t say I love them or look forward to them, but I don’t mind eggs so have them mostly for breakfast (in different ways depending on where I am) sometimes with bacon medallions, and/or a yoghurt.

venmor · 11/08/2026 19:11

200 calories is a low amount for a breakfast already, I don’t see what’s wrong with eating toast? I eat toast for breakfast most days and have been doing this for almost 2 years - also with a skinny coffee. There are plenty of alternatives but if the reason is purely the calories there is no need to try and be so restrictive. How many calories are you aiming for daily?

tobee · 11/08/2026 19:21

I eat 5% fat Greek yoghurt, protein granola, nuts and honey and cinnamon, but I’ve never calorie counted on mounjaro so it’s not an issue. I love it, it fills me up and it’s all working for me.

purplepie1 · 11/08/2026 20:35

Greek yogurt 0%, chia seeds, berries and a little maple syrup if needed.

toast with peanut butter and sliced apple.

LovelyLapin · 12/08/2026 00:41

Collagen powder in coffee and 2 kiwis. But previously I didn’t eat any breakfast.

HappyWineDay · 13/08/2026 14:08

Another vote here for Greek yoghurt, specifically as it's high protein.
I sprinkle it with Keto Hana which is a high protein, low sugar granola. I really recommend this stuff, check out their website.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 13/08/2026 20:06

I'd ditch the latte personally and get some protein and fiber into you. I mix it between wholemeal toast and Marmite, high fibre cereal or Greek yoghurt.

Always was able to meet my very low calorie allowance with this kind of thing and plenty left for the day - I'm short 🤣

BigBurrata · 13/08/2026 20:13

3 Ryvitas with cottage cheese (not the low fat one)

PearlsTeapot · 13/08/2026 20:14

Tomorrow I'm having apricots from m&s with greek yogurt and honey. Already looking forward to breakfast! It fills me right up.

HollywoodTease · 13/08/2026 21:31

I have a "for goodness shakes" glow protein & collagen shake most days. I like the vanilla one as I don't drink coffee but you can also get it in iced latte flavour so I'd have that and drop your actual lattes.

I also sometimes have a protein yoghurt with a handful of granola, or milled or mixed seeds. Seems to suit, I'm just coming up to 4 stone lost since January now

ShrankLastWinter · 13/08/2026 22:40

I just mix some chocolate protein powder into almond milk and add coffee.

AplineDaisies · 15/08/2026 21:51

@MomentsBeforeChaos which protein shake do you use?

MabelMoo23 · 16/08/2026 21:32

I have Lizis high protein granola, Greek yogurt and fruit sprinkled on top. Lots of protein and fills me up

Neemi1201 · 16/08/2026 21:53

I'm not on MJ, but I eat Greek yoghurt, mixed with chia seeds, peanut butter and a half-scoop of protein powder. Then add blueberries and strawberries.
