How careful do I need to be when choosing a supplier? I’m concerned about scams and fake products.

I’m considering taking weight loss injections, but am conscious that there are loads of suppliers offering a range of prices. I’m keen to strike a balance between a good price and a reliable supplier.

I found a post on Mumsnet where a member had helpfully added a link to a price comparison site for the injections. I’ve never heard of almost all the suppliers so don’t know where to start! I anticipate I’d stay on the 2.5 dose for quite a while.

Please can anyone share their thoughts as to whether I could end up being scammed or worse by the suppliers at the cheaper end of the scale? I remember a flurry of news articles and TV interviews warning about fake weight loss injections about 18 months ago which has made me even more wary.

The link that I followed was: https://monj.co.uk/mounjaro-price-comparison-by-monj/

That list is all genuine suppliers.
You can't assume or anticipate what dose will work for you by the way, 2.5 is not effective for most people.

AmberLime · Yesterday 21:37

All suppliers on the monj comparison site are genuine, properly accredited pharmacies. Pick the cheapest - they are supplying and identical product.

Thank you, that’s really helpful and reassuring. Do most people swap suppliers frequently to get the lowest price, or is that really tricky?

@TheDogsMother Voy code would be super if allowed, thank you.

TheBrickCritic · Yesterday 21:45

I've used Bolt medexpress and now Lotus who are the best. You cant go wrong with monj as its all legit

SilenceInside · Yesterday 21:46

Voy can also be expensive. It’s a subscription so check what you’re signing up for and there is a cancellation fee if you decide to change supplier before the subscription term is up,

It’s easy to change suppliers, you just need to keep the medication box that the pen comes in as it has the prescription details on it. You can take a photo and use that as proof of your previous prescription which you’ll be asked for.

Wishiwasatailor · Yesterday 21:49

I'm on my 3rd pen with third supplier all through using monk.com to get the cheapest deal. All legit registered
pharmacies. make sure you keep the box to take photo of to prove your previous dose if you change pharmacy suppliers.

I have DM'd you and hope it is of some use ! Good luck.

any supplier listed on Monj is legal and will send the real exact same product. I remember so well being put off by the unknown (and in many cases cringey) names of companies! The variation is in the customer service around the product. Most give a much lower introductory price, often with a code, but watch the t&c. I’ve always avoided the ones that are subscriptions. You can cancel if you are careful though. I’ve also avoided ones that sell a package/app/ support calls as have found ample excellent advice on this board and Reddit as well as keeping up to date with published research.

some are stricter about prescribing criteria which can be a limiting factor. You won’t know until after you’ve paid and they ask for more info then confirm in most cases (they refund if their pharmacist refuses to prescribe) so be aware of this as can tie up your funds. Some are not quick with the refund. So if you have any underlying conditions they are likely to query or are not over bmi 30, research who is likely to accept you before paying.

I would also caution against the advice of any one offering you a code here as it’s to their advantage to recommend - they get credit too if you use it. Personal code are only meant for friends and family. We all have them for various suppliers but should not be pushing them here. this was rife before it was clamped down on that’s why posters will try to DM you them. Use the Monj codes.

the well known names like Boots trade off you being reassured by familiarity - not worth it for same product.

from a long time on these forums and my own experience I would recommend in no particular order - Chemist4u, Weprescribe, Swift dr, MedExpress, pharmacy2u, medicine marketplace, simple online pharmacy.

Good luck! It’s the best thing I ever did for my health and wellbeing.

Just to be clear I offered the code. Yes I would benefit but so would OP. You will see that I wished her luck whatever route she chose to go. I would not describe that as pushing thanks.

SilenceInside · Yesterday 22:55

I would describe it as pushing, tbh, which is what people need to do with referral codes to make the costs more in line with other providers once the new customer discount no longer applies. The terms and conditions for the use of referral codes usually includes that you are not supposed to share it with people unknown to you via social media. They’re meant to be for genuine friends and family.

I think offering your referral code does make the “recommendation” biased. For example, you didn’t mention that Voy is a subscription based supplier with a cancellation fee. And that they are one of the more expensive options.

perimenopoppet · Yesterday 22:59

@TheDogsMotherI didn’t name you. It’s a regular issue and has been for a long time on these threads. Do the t&c of your code allow sharing with strangers online? If so why not just post it? What benefits will OP get from Voy as opposed to other options. What will the price be for her with said code? Given their usual pricing which is one of the highest out there, I suspect she will get cheaper elsewhere without the tie in of a subscription and risk of defaulting to their extremely high retail price month 2. No, I don’t like code sharing, although alongside useful advice at a genuine advantage to the receiver that they can’t get otherwise, I can see why people think it’s ok. I don’t think your code is that. And it’s all a bit too MLM- like. So I do call it out and I’m sorry if you’re relatively new to here, really believe you are sharing something unique, and genuinely didn’t realise it’s not permitted on this board.

Wow I wasn’t going to write a full review of Voy, I was just sharing my experience. I’ve only been on it a month, I don’t have any experience of any of the other options and just thought it was being helpful ! I hope OP will choose what’s best for her and I am honestly not fussed if she uses the code or not. Of course I will consider myself told by people who clearly know my intent better than I do 🤣

SilenceInside · Yesterday 23:09

Clearly part of your intent is to get money off your next month’s cost from Voy….

worldsgonemadnow · Yesterday 23:14

Medicine Marketplace are consistently the lowest priced, without any needing discount code. Very reliable too.

perimenopoppet · Yesterday 23:15

Glad to hear it was a genuine error from a newbie. Good luck on your journey. I hope you’ve found your starting month support thread they are brilliant for having people to chat to along the way, and you should also have a look back through the board there is a wealth of info going back a few years now.

AmberLime · Yesterday 23:16

Blimey.

Can't get upset about code use. Wanting to pay less for the same product is hardly a crime. There is zero problem with voucher code companies. Its just their business model - cheaper as a new customer than regular price. Thousands of business models exist like this, not just WLI pharmacies.

Some customers want cheap discounts and shop around to find them. Others don't want to shop around so look for low every day price. Neither is right or wrong.

Holier Than Thou attitudes shown here are shitty. Use the codes, or don't. There need not be a judgement either way.

perimenopoppet · Yesterday 23:49

I’m not at all upset about code use - I’ve used codes for most of my pens and will continue to! But I am anti-disingenuous code sharing, without any useful advice or explanation of why they think that company are better, especially when it brings actual negatives like higher price even after applying the code than other options and getting signed up to a subscription.

It’s quite clear why personal codes are prohibited - due to the absolute insanity of code pushing we saw in late 24-spring 25. It’s hardly comparable to getting 10% off clothes - it’s a prescription medication and it encourages people to make false recommendations.

Use the Monj codes, switch suppliers, share personal codes with your actual friends who you trust to tell you the truth about the service. But be cautious with trusting an anon recommendation where the other person stands to gain.

Can anyone actually tell us the cost of 2.5mg on Voy after using a referral code? As their price is so high. It would need to be at least £100 off to be comparable with other suppliers just using new customer Monj codes.

AmberLime · Today 07:32

The price you pay with discount will be the price on the Monj website. Personal codes are the same, youre just giving a real person the referrer discount, instead of giving it to a faceless company. Same code tho.

I don't know for Voy, but im with Juniper and theirs is pretty open. Someone uses my £75 off voucher code and I get £75 off my next order (it's actually £100 now).

Im also not sure what the worry is with subscription services, which I also often hear about. Just means that when my voucher codes run out i want to swap to a new company I send an email. Then (having done that twice now) they send me extra discounts to stay, which makes it worth staying. If it wasn't, it's easy to just swap in exactly the same way as shopping around.

How careful do I need to be when choosing a supplier? I’m concerned about scams and fake products.
HappyWineDay · Today 08:47

So if one manages to get a voucher code (or someone uses one’s code) the price is the same as one can get from other suppliers without a code or subscription.
Without a code/referral it’s very expensive
