Mounjaro for bmi 25.7

im 42 and over the last year or so my weight has crept up. I need to lose around 2 stone but I’m finding it so difficult to stick to a sensible eating plan. When I heard the term “food noise” it was like a lightbulb went off in my mind! That is the perfect way to describe what is in my head 24/7!
Would love to hear if anyone else with a low bmi or just a little weight to lose has tried wli and whether they are worth it or not?? It’s literally in my basket online so should I check out and take the plunge or try to go it alone and ignore the food noise using good old fashioned willpower??

Also what side effects did you encounter if any?

GreenFootstool · 26/06/2026 16:21

You don't qualify.

tomorrowchild · 26/06/2026 16:22

Well I’ve passed the checks I just have to pay for it?

You don't qualify.

Some providers are prescribing for people with a BMI over 25 now

GreenFootstool · 26/06/2026 16:23

Online checks? Or a consultation?

The pharmacist / prescriber will review whatever you've written online only after you've paid for it then decide whether they will prescribe to you. Then they'll refund you if they decline it.

But your BMI is far too low to qualify.

BravasPatatas · 26/06/2026 16:24

Anyway, to answer your question OP. I had a BMI of 30 when I started so a bit different but it worked, it was worth it and I had very few side effects.
What you have to consider though is that when you come off it you will still have to stick to a sensible eating plan, otherwise the weight will go back on.

tomorrowchild · 26/06/2026 16:25

Thanks for the reply. I did wonder whether it would go through for further checks after payment page.

I thought a couple of online prescribers were now prescribing wegovy at 25 bmi but not mounjaro? Pp is correct that you pay and then they review. I started at just over 25 bmi on wegovy but have other related health issues and a surprisingly high body fat ratio, so I was approved.

Ah ok, I didn’t realise it was just Wegovy

CleanSkin · 26/06/2026 16:32

In your shoes, I wouldn’t medicalise a normal weight loss situation.

I might be wrong!!

SilenceInside · 26/06/2026 16:34

MedExpress and Voy will prescribe either Wegovy or Mounjaro on an off licence basis from BMI 25. I hope that the OP is using a GPhC registered pharmacy like those ones, or a private weight loss clinic that is CQC registered.

@tomorrowchild there’s a thread or two in this section for people with a BMI under 27, you’ll probably find lots of interesting posts there.

Isn't the problem that you would have to stay on the drug for life? Otherwise the 'food noise' would return and you'd be back to square one. Is it worth being on a drug for life if you are only a tiny bit overweight?

ClairDeLaLune · 26/06/2026 16:38

Is it a genuine site or dodgy? I know of 2 people who have died after doing WLIs bought off dodgy sites. And if you think it’s genuine how do you know that?

TheDogsMother · 26/06/2026 16:45

GreenFootstool · 26/06/2026 16:21

You don't qualify.

You do with Voy and some others. They prescribe off label for 25 and above.

I came off MJ just under 2 years ago and have managed to maintain the weight loss. It’s been hard though. Yes the food noise came back with a vengeance, but as I’d spent £1.5k getting to goal weight and was never likely to be in a position to pay for it again I was determined the weight wasn’t going back on. So far so good, we’ll see how it goes!

The OP said it’s with MedExpress which is a genuine prescriber.

Thanks this is helpful. I do worry about what happens when you come off it. I suppose I’m looking for something to kick start the weight loss and quieten the food noise. I would hope that when I came off it I would be in a solid routine of better eating to not let the weight come back on. I won’t lie I’m looking at this as an easy fix which is why I’m asking for others experiences to help decide. I’m in two minds to give it a try or as I tell myself everyday don’t be such a greedy pig and just ignore the noise and eat less!

If its mounjaro then I think only med express and voy are doing it for bmi 25+ . If not you will end up paying then waiting for a refund once they have looked over your answers..

But if its one of them, then I say go for it.. it has so many other benefits too and people feel great on it..

Hopefully you will manage on 2.5 cos if you need to go up the strength then it gets expensive..

Maybe try wegovey first as it might work and its cheaper.. even though I would always reccomend MJ.

I have - my bmi was 25. Something and I was 5 7 and 11 stone 8. Ive been on mounjaro for 2 months - I started at 2.5 and im now considering going up to 5 or somewhere in between

I used voy initially snd have switched to swift doctor as they are cheaper

I was rapidly gaining weight in perimenopause and was miserable - i felt i looked 6 months pregnant

I also now realise I had proper sugar issues so although I was eating no ultra processed food the rest of the time I would constantly crave chocolate, haribo and biscuits

Weight loss was amazing the first couple of weeks but has slowed recently - i did have a longish gap between jabs as was on holiday. Ive lost a stone so far when before I struggled to get any movement on the scales

I eat 3 meals a day, pretty low carb compared with before - not by choice but my body only really wants healthy things and especially water based veg like cucumber, lettuce, apples etc

I have pretty much no cravings or thoughts about sweet stuff or crap food

Would you mind telling me how much weight you’ve lost since you’ve started?

You absolutely can get mounjaro at that bmi and like a previous poster said, there are threads of people in just this situation who have had great success. I don’t know why some people are so keen to gate keep it like they’re the only ones who struggle with weight.
