Has anyone made a successful transition from Mounjaro to Wegovy?

Interested in hearing from those who started out with Mounjaro, and then moved to Wegovy.
I’ve loved Mounjaro and have done pretty well, but the appetite suppression could be better. I’m on 15 mg and have been for ages.
I’m not sure if Wegovy would work for me but as it’s cheaper, maybe nothing to lose by trying.
Thoughts, please?

I lost 3.5 stone on mounjaro but due to an unrelated illness I had to stop (had repeated surgeries in a short space of time) now I’m well again I decided to try Wegovy mainly due to cost and I’m now on my 3rd month - up to 1mg a week and I haven’t lost a single pound. I’m going to give it a bit longer but I think the investment in mounjaro is better.

TheGoodOnesAreAllGone · 07/06/2026 12:47

I switched to Wegovy after losing 4 stone on Mounjaro when the prices went up last year. Waste of money, didn't lose anything. Now back on mounjaro

erasemybrain · 07/06/2026 12:47

Didn’t work for me I’m afraid. I dropped to a lower dose of MJ and tired to make my brain work harder as I just couldn’t afford the higher doses. Increasing exercise whilst still keeping calories low with MJ helping me to not eat everything in sight has been my strategy. Almost 6 stone down in 14 months.

Bingbongsingalong · 07/06/2026 12:55

Did absolutely nothing for me, if anything it made me more hungry and I gained weight. I went back to MJ, although now i'm stuck because I can't afford a higher dose and 5mg no longer does anything for me.

Mb76 · 07/06/2026 13:02

I have, but overall lost more on MJ and it was easier too. I was 5on MJ for a year (stayed on 10 mg dose for about 6 months after starting on 2.5 and slowly increasing) and lost 6 stone, then switched to Wegovy in February on 1.75 dose and lost just over a stone. I’m hungrier on Wegovy but find it manageable enough. I have not increased my dose, and have been losing about 0.5-1 lb a week and have experienced plateaus now and again.

Newmummypamela · 07/06/2026 13:04

I know a good few people who tried switching to Wegovy from MJ when the price hike was announced - waste of time and money for every single one of them! I haven't heard of one single person in real life having any success on Wegovy.

Wonkydonkey44 · 07/06/2026 14:00

No , made me desperately ill , now waiting for surgery on my gall bladder , yes surgery might be due to mounjaro but I only became very unwell on wegovy .

JMSA · 07/06/2026 14:12

Hmm, very interesting. Thanks everyone. I too haven’t heard of much - or indeed any! - success with Wegovy. Even my pharmacist says that Mounjaro is the far superior drug.

I just paid my car off last month. I’m going to swap back to MJ and just pretend I still have my car payment. I guess the investment in myself is worth it!

SkippitySkoppity · 07/06/2026 15:32

I made the swap from MJ to Wegovy. Decided the saving wasn't worth it and swapped back after a month...

MandyMotherOfBrian · 07/06/2026 16:05

Oh wow, I must be one of the very few for whom it’s worked out then. I did join a similar thread a couple of weeks back but that one didn’t get much traction, as I said then the only difference I have found is that previously MJ killed dead any desire for wine. Wegovy isn’t that successful with that but as I don’t drink much anyway I’m not overly concerned. The appetite suppression has been great though. I moved from 12.5mg MJ on to 1.7mg Wegovy. If anything, the suppression is slightly better. I have hugely overhauled my diet and exercise since starting back in October so maybe that is also playing a part, but overall I’m very happy and so I’ll stick with it for a while and hope it stays this good.

Mb76 · 07/06/2026 16:51

@MandyMotherOfBrian I feel the same, but neither MJ nor Wegovy did much to reduce my wine cravings. I’m also eating much cleaner and much less and exercise more (mostly walking and hiking), I am also sticking with Wegovy as I had plateaus on MJ as well before I switched. Wegovy is still expensive whereas MJ is simply not affordable now.

Ghilliedu · 07/06/2026 17:20

I changed from MJ to wegovy in January after the price hike (and after I’d used up my supplies) and regret it! It did absolutely nothing for me and made me realise just how effectively MJ was controlling my sweet cravings.

I gave it a proper chance, went to the highest dose, used every bit of willpower I had and still gained 15lbs between January and April. Back on MJ now at a lower dose and it’s slowing coming off again and my sweet cravings are also gone. Looks like I’ll be paying for this forever then!

I'm the opposite to most people here. Mounjaro didn't work for me at all and Wegovy has helped me hugely.

Why do you think this was if you don't mind me asking? My friendship group have had such mixed experiences on MJ from losing several stone to becoming really unwell and giving up. I'd be interested to know if Wegovy could work.

Kaggi9 · 07/06/2026 18:11

I started on Mounjaro at the end of January 2025, weighing 17st 2. I never went higher than 7.5, and did this for just one month before coming back down to 5. With the massive price hikes, I made the decision in September 2025 to move to Wegovy. At that point I was 10st 12. I switched to Wegovy starting on 1.7 and moved to 2.4. I continued to lose, and hit my lowest in February, and have been stable since. I’m now 9st 4.

Although Wegovy has worked for me, personally I felt better on MJ and so have made the decision to switch back - I have two doses left in my WG pen, and my new MJ 5ml is waiting in the fridge!

I really don't know. I started off of Wegovy a few years ago. Lost three stone, came off it and put a stone back on.
I thought I try Mounjaro but absolutely nothing happened. I gave it about six months and then switched back to Wegovy. It worked straight away. I think I'll be on a maintenance dose for a long time.
My provider (CheqUp) have said that they'll be getting the pill version soon.

Jamshedhead · 08/06/2026 10:30

If you're on the highest dose of mj, switching to wegovy will most likely barely touch the sides. Mounjaro acts on 2 receptors whereas wegovy only acts on 1. It will be like stepping down in a sense.

Imisssleep88 · 08/06/2026 13:12

I moved over as I couldn't justify the price on mounjaro, I find I am still hungry on wegovy, the suppression isn't as high but I do still find I can only eat little meals. I was hesitant as I had hard people having more side effects with wegovy, but I didn't personally, just transition sensibly. If they cost the same I would still be on mounjaro even after trying both.

OnlyHasEyesForLoki · 08/06/2026 16:30

I did really well on Mounjaro and got to goal. When the prices shot up I switched to Wegovy and honestly even when I went up the doses I was ravenous! I put a stone on. I switched back to Mounjaro and even on the lowest dose 9 pounds has come off again quite quickly and I’m not hungry. I think I’ll stick to the lowest dose of Mounjaro as maintenance.

I think you are absolutely right … unfortunately!

I haven’t put weight on since I switched, but neither have I lost any. To be fair though, I was already plateauing on MJ. I’m definitely more hungry on Wegovy.

CoastalCalm · 10/06/2026 21:09

Wegovy hasn’t worked for me at all so switching back to Mounjaro - double the cost but I know it works
