Will weight loss injections help me kick-start losing two stone?

I’d like to lose about 2 stones but I just can’t get started or motivated to get going on a diet. I think it’s menopause etc as I’ve never really had a weight issue be for and in the past when I gained weight it didn’t all just go on my stomach like it does now. I really want a jumpstart at least and I think then I might be able to see results and get some motivation. If I buy mounjaro or similar for a couple of months will I see results? Will I lose interest in wine/late night snacking because if that’s the case I’ll probably save the cost of it quite easily I’m totally fine in the days when I am busy but it’s evening and weekends when I eat and drink too much

So I’ve taken the plunge and ordered MJ from Medexpress. I had to upload a full length photograph and a photo of my ID (driving licence) and it’s currently under review, although they have taken the money. I’ll find out within 2 days.
I’m worried I won’t be approved even though my BMI is 29.5 as in my photo I don’t look quite as chubby as I feel! They asked for a front view whereas I think a side view is more telling!!!

OP, there’s every possibility that you can use WLIs to support you losing 2 stone without having to continue to take them long term. I took them for 6 months and stopped last summer after losing 20 kg. I haven’t put on weight, in fact I have lost a few more kilos. It didn’t ruin my metabolism and I am not starving myself. I felt it helped me to “ reset” my eating habits and I don’t get the sugar/carb cravings I used to.

I think they can certainly help. I lost a stone in the first month, and am anticipating a further stone in the next 4-6 weeks. I don’t want to lose too fast though so might slow down dose increase slightly. I see it as a 6 month commitment minimum now (after thinking I’d just do it for a month initially). It is definitely easier than without WLI, particularly the portion control. I just can’t eat a full plate any more - my stomach tells me when I’m hungry and very clearly when to stop.

@wellcoveredsparerib Not the point of the post but do you have any advice on how to maintain without the jabs? I’m about to stop after six months on them (lost almost 2.5 stone) and I’m so worried about piling it all back on.

If you know the issue is wine and snacking simply give those two items up.

Hey maybe she could just eat less and move more too!

BreakingBroken · 04/05/2026 19:25

@PinkArt sadly even if your on WLI you still have to “eat less and move more”. You really do need to focus on nutritious smaller portions and imbed what that smaller portion size is.

Gah, MN needs a sarcasm emoji! I know, I'm about 18 months and almost 7 stone into "just eating less and moving more", with Mounjaro's help.
It was a facetious response to a stupid comment, as if we haven't all tried 'just' or 'simply' that a thousand times before. Knowing wine/ chocolate/ pie/ cake/ nandos etc is your nemesis is only one tiny step towards actually breaking those habits.

I think that ignorance helped actually. When I stopped I wasn’t aware that many users struggled when they stopped, or that maintenance was even a thing! I have continued to drink lots of water during the day, as I think I used to mistake thirst for hunger, and I eat lots of protein and limited carbs. I weigh weekly so I can cut back a bit for a few days and that doesn’t seem so onerous but I really don’t feel I am denying myself
