Will weight loss injections help me kick-start losing two stone?

I’d like to lose about 2 stones but I just can’t get started or motivated to get going on a diet. I think it’s menopause etc as I’ve never really had a weight issue be for and in the past when I gained weight it didn’t all just go on my stomach like it does now. I really want a jumpstart at least and I think then I might be able to see results and get some motivation. If I buy mounjaro or similar for a couple of months will I see results? Will I lose interest in wine/late night snacking because if that’s the case I’ll probably save the cost of it quite easily I’m totally fine in the days when I am busy but it’s evening and weekends when I eat and drink too much

If you know the issue is wine and snacking simply give those two items up.

‘Simply’ 🙄
I bet the OP has thought of trying that……

maddiemookins16mum · Yesterday 16:13

I’ve come off MJ after losing 4.5 stone. Last jab of 12mg was Easter Sunday. I am the same weight today as then….9 stone 5 (down from 13 stone 12). I do get increased ‘food noise’ since coming off but eat far healthier and smaller portions. I also swim 25 lengths every other day, do 30 minutes on a treadmill on another 2 days, go to a line dancing class once a week and Aquafit twice a week. Seeing how I look now (and buying size 10 shorts today) is all the motivation I now need.

Don’t make this public knowledge or the WLI manufacturers will go bust. Who knew.

BreakingBroken · Yesterday 16:14

@mustwashmycurtains the WLI might give a bit of extra willpower but she’ll still need to put in some mental work.

8books · Yesterday 16:19

I’ve used MJ to lose 2 stone in 4 months. It’s been a fairly steady loss so my skin isn’t loose etc. BMI currently 23.9. Hoping to lose another 1 stone in next 3 months.

My pharmacy (Cloud) counts peri-menopause as a condition to prescribe MJ to lower BMIs, so worth looking at that if you only have a small amount to lose.

gdyuttrrrr · Yesterday 16:30

WLI don’t fuck your metabolism, weight loss does, period.

Honestly if you don’t go in with the right mindset it’s very easy to be lazy on it, the weight will come off (albeit slowly if not actively supporting it yourself too) but nothing really changes mentally. If you understand that’s fine if you remain on them that’s fine, but it’ll take a stronger mental shift if you want to permanently keep the weight off without WLI in the long term.

Decisionsdecisionsdecisions2026 · Yesterday 16:37

I’ll just do that then. Never thought of it/. Hilarious

But @Decisionsdecisionsdecisions2026 even with WLI you’ll need to do it. The injections DON’T seal your mouth shut, make you forget the taste, keep you busy when bored or stop friends inviting you out.

Obviously.
weight loss - for me - was much easier to get going with WLI to help and being lighter has made it much easier to get healthy habits in place. Now I workout 5/6 days each week and eat smaller portions.

I’ve been on diets since I was maybe 10 years old (now 50) Have had trainers, therapists, dieticians, food plans, meal replacements etc etc. have tried very very hard to lose weight. Some significant success. Then menopause destroyed any progress (and then some) I am very disciplined in other areas of my life but for some reason have never been able to crack my overeating compulsion.

I don’t expect everyone to understand this but maybe try to apply some logic before commenting and acting like it’s so simple - if so many people have an issue with overeating, perhaps it’s not the simple answer you think it is. Comments like yours make me want to scream

BreakingBroken · Yesterday 18:45

Scream away @mustwashmycurtains i too battle overeating in general. I wish it was drinks and snacks it would be a cakewalk to cut 2 items out vs finding the magic portion size of everything.

@Decisionsdecisionsdecisions2026 if you decide to do it, come join us on one of the other chats for support…. I’m on the Oct 25 starters plus I read and followed a lot of other chats…. No issues, just support from others with similar issues etc

You need to be prepared to be on it for more than a couple of months. I’ve done six months and wish I could afford to stay on it for longer. I knew I didn’t want to be on it for ever, but I really wish I’d considered how long I might actually want to be on it for and researched maintenance. I’m pretty much having to go cold turkey as I can’t afford it any more. I’ve lost 2.5 stone in those six months BUT it hasn’t been as easy for me as others. I’ve still had a fair bit of food noise and unfortunately it hasn’t taken away the craving for wine on a Friday night, though I do snack a lot less. In short, it is brilliant and I highly recommend it but not as a short term option, plan and budget for 12 months at least especially with the removal of golden doses.

That poster has had a really strange and unexplainable type of weight gain and needs medical advice. This isn't typical.

I stopped MJ 6 months ago and haven’t gained any weight! Am 1 kg less than 2 months ago.

Candymay · Yesterday 21:21

You will achieve a lot in 2 months. That’s my opinion and based on my own experience. I lost weight immediately after a month i was around 6kg down. And it was steady. So even on 2.5mg it worked for me. I’ve lost 26kg in 10 months. Im on 5mg still because I want to keep it off.
but I would not hesitate to use this or to encourage others. I had major health issues and it’s absolutely been worth the money it costs me.

MeridaBrave · Yesterday 21:22

I’m 51 and taking alongside HRT, I lost 2 stone in July to October last year. I’m still taking a micro dose. I took steps to to make sure I lost fat rather than muscle (daily gym lifting weights and cardio) and I don’t eat any UPF.

Realistically I think I will have to microdose long term to make it easy not to do the late night snacking, and the muscle loss risk is real hence the weight lifting.

I’m sorry to read this.
I buy 15mg and use it for 5mg doses. That’s how I keep the price down.
I don’t care what anyone else thinks about this. It’s my health and my life.
900 for about 9 months of injections. I’m still on the old pens not the new smaller ones.

Lavender14 · Yesterday 21:26

I think op you'll need to think about what you're going to replace the habits with though?

I use them and I have lost almost a stone in 3 weeks. My cravings for snack food have gone so makes it much easier in the evenings to not dive into crisps and chocolate, but I'm also aware that when I stop those cravings will probably come back again so I've been trying to structure my evenings differently.

I'm exercising and calorie counting and focusing on meal planning and trying to stay on the lowest possible dose.

Harpsichord23 · Yesterday 21:34

I lost three stone over nine months on WLI and haven’t gained any back over the last five months that I have been off it.
it broke my snacking habit and changed my portion sizes.
you have to make an effort, but wearing size 12 after going up to size 18 is my daily motivation

Dreardrie · Yesterday 21:44

Ok realistically my and my relatives buy peptides and share but it's still hard

Nellodee · Today 07:47

WLI didn’t ruin my metabolism. I went from 12.5 to 9.5, adding lots of exercise. I find it easier to stay motivated because I now have a trim figure I value rather than a “fuck it” pudge. When I started at 12.5 stone, I needed to eat about 1200 calories to lose 1.5lbs a week. Now, I’m maintaining at 1800ish (guessing here, as I’m no longer calorie counting).

That said, I still have to take a small dose (down to 3.33mg from a max of 7.5). Food noise is definitely back. I weigh daily and adjust my diet slightly if it varies more than a lb. I’m expecting to stay on this long term. My husband says I’m renting my new figure. I was offended by this at first, but I think he’s probably right.

RoseField1 · Today 08:33

My husband says I’m renting my new figure

OOF! That hit. He's not wrong though. That's an attitude adjustment!

Decisionsdecisionsdecisions2026 · Today 08:55

So glad I started this thread. I still don’t know what to do. I am at that “fuck it” pudge stage.. 2 stones woul be me back to my weight in my 20s but to be honest 1 stone off and staying would be great. Im not sure I think renting my shape is that bad a thing. @Nellodee I think what you’ve experienced is very helpful

Listen @Decisionsdecisionsdecisions2026 there is so much ridiculous nonsense written about WLI that - if you haven’t tried them you could think they have a mystical quality. They really don’t. They are hormones that control appetite and satiety. You are not thinking of food all the time. Will rarely feel hungry. Therefore you have time to plan and cook healthy meals because that overwhelming need to put the first thing you see - in your mouth has just gone. So not only do you stop snacking but a few mouthfuls make you feel stuffed.

Given all of the above. Why are people remotely surprised that if you stop taking a drug that you had used to prevent symptoms of a disease.. those symptoms reappear . Can you honestly tell me of ANY medication besides antibiotics where this doesn’t happen.
I take thyroid medication. If I stopped I would die. My bf is asthmatic. If she didn’t take her medication she would have more frequent and severe asthma attacks. WLI are NO different. You will lose weight when you use them . You can maintain that loss on a maintenance dose (this is what I do. ) .but yes will put it all back on and more if you stop. Unless you are one of the incredibly rare stoic (0.2% on the SUMMOUNT trial) people with iron will power who can overcome their food noise. It also begs the question, that if you do have this degree of willpower why on earth would you need WLI in the first place.
