Hi starting mounjaro this week is there a thread already set up I can join?

Had fourth jab today of 2.5mg, there was the same left again so I forced the pen to keep twisting round until it got back to the 1 and injected again as I'm due to start 5mg next week and figured that I'd be naughty and start it today instead.

I'm 5lb off this week and that's 11 in total so far. I wish it was still Friday's weight when I had a sneaky weigh in as I went to family for the weekend to help out and the meals were not of my choosing so I thought I'd have a try before hand to see what it says. It was 13.8 off then 😂 but given that I've been more active, not drunk as much water and my knees are swollen and painful because of it as well as a mcdonalds Fri evening and pizza (only three slices) Saturday etc and a small handful of haribo (about 12 sweets) on Sunday with a film I'm happy with 5lb off for the week, especially as it will now start to calm as my body has shed its initial "wtf are you doing woman?" weight and will be into actual fat loss. (hopefully!)

Took the 5mg today too because I am going to be recovering from the weekend (more active, family stresses as we come to terms with things, not sleeping above 5 hours over three nights because of having to be with the children when they woke l/listening for them etc) means recovering today and I'm feeling a little jetlag so hopefully an easy day will mean that the 5mg isn't such a wallop to my system as it might be on a normal day.

So that was 3 2.5mg doses that were tolerated well, no side effects. Today it's 1 5mg dose in total.

Hope everyone else is managing well. I also recommend nutracheck over my fitness pal as its a UK company so most of the foods are already on the database and have been verified where they aren't on mfp because it's community added. Also happy to send referral codes if you pm me and want one. It often has sign up deals too around holidays. I signed up at easter when it was 29.99 and they do similar over summer and Christmas etc too.

22sra · 27/04/2026 13:23

@NettleTea I took my first dose last night too! Sounds like we have a similar starting point weight/height wise as well.
I got a bit lightheaded after my first dose and I’m sure I could feel it working its way around my system. I feel ok today though and slept fine, other than DS having me up at 3am!
I haven’t really thought about food, more that I know I need to eat and get protein in etc. I don’t feel particularly nauseous, but after I just made lunch the thought of it turned to dread in a way. Very odd! Portions will be much smaller than normal so I can now see how people struggle to get protein in. It’s very strange haha.
How are you feeling today?

mounjaroatlast · 27/04/2026 14:06

Just taken the 2nd jab. I did feel over the weekend, that the snackiness was coming back again so presume that was because of the jab wearing off.

I have lost 2lb which although not huge, is still 2lb, although probably put it all back on yesterday as I went to a all you can eat buffet style restaurant.

I tried to eat meat, rice, nothing too bad, then caved and had some pizza and mac n cheese and potatoes. I then suffered terribly for eating too much which serves me right. It was all I ate all day though.

I have a phonecall with the nurse on Weds, so presume she will put me up to 5 then?

NeedSleepNowPls · 27/04/2026 14:58

I'm on week 2 day 4 and really hungry today! I'm due on soon so probably PMS and emotional eating but I skipped breakfast and have just snacked since then! Fairly small things admittedly but I've definitely not had enough water so I'm going to swap to comfort cups of tea this afternoon to try and curb the snacking!

Isabelle70 · 27/04/2026 16:10

I am day 4 of the first jab and no symptoms at all , I have not felt hungry but have continued to have 3 meals a day. Also being more mindful and keeping up with the liquid intake.

Im feeling OK. been at work on the glampingsite so done some walking around, only been home a little while and had a high protein pulled pork and grains type thing for lunch which had been reduced at Tesco - could have happily not though. Realised that although I thought I was great at not eating much, that was offset by about 100 white coffes with 2 sugarrrs. So cut sugar to 1 and am going to limit coffee to 3 a day. Did NOT sleep well, but thats normal for me. just wish I could get on top of that as am sure thats a big issue for me.

Second weigh in today and in 2 weeks I’ve lost 11lb. Why am i disappointed! I know it’s a great loss so why do I have to keep convincing myself! I suspect it’s because I’m impatient and just want to be slim right now. 🤣

NettleTea · 27/04/2026 18:18

11 lbs in 2 weeks is incredible! its over 3/4 of a stone!!

11lb in 2 weeks is amazing, I'd be dancing on the table if that was me!

NeedSleepNowPls · 27/04/2026 19:16

Haha I totally get the impatience but if you keep it up you'll lose over a stone in a month! That's amazing!

Tho is absolutely me all over! Well done though, it is brilliant :)

thinkofsomethingdifferent · 28/04/2026 09:57

Well I’ve taken my first 5mg this morning and I feel like I’m waiting for something bad to happen 🥴

22sra · 28/04/2026 10:05

Ok, I know this is the long game. But I weighed myself this morning and the scale has gone up?!
yesterday was my first day (jabbed Sunday night), there is no way I wasn’t in a calorie deficit. Normally I am constantly snacking here and there, finishing off a meal with something sweet. But yesterday I did none of that. Focussed on protein and smaller portions. Drank plenty of water.
Is it normal for the scale to go up initially? I don’t weigh myself regularly for this reason!

Probably too soon for yesterday to show on scales. I weigh once a week and my second week I went up 1lb. I was really disappointed but I've done third dose and a cheeky weigh in today and in total lost 10lbs in 3 weeks.
So don't weigh too soon or worry about fluctuations as long as medium and longer term you are loosing. There are so many variables getting it exact. Good luck. Keep doing what you are doing, it will show x

Agree with what TFIC said, it's definitely too soon for one day of eating well to show up. I usually find there's a 2-3 day delay on scales, so for example if I have a terrible weekend it'll show on the scales on Tuesday(ish). You going up this morning will be from what you ate last week.

It's really tempting to weigh yourself daily but try to stick to weekly.

I understand, I was the same yesterday and nothing seemed to happen other than the appetite surpression has definitely upped. Good luck I hope it's the same for you

Daily is a dangerous habit to get into, weekly, fortnightly or monthly is a much better idea. There are far too many variables to go by daily weighing and it would affect your mental health far too much.

My post has been reinstated (still don’t know why hidden), should I repost as it is quite a bit up thread? Thanks

SilenceInside · 28/04/2026 14:37

@Scrabsqueak it was the mention of the collagen sweets (word beginning with g) that got your post automatically hidden by MN. It’s a word associated with lots of ad spamming so any post with it in will be auto hidden until a human can check it.

Scrabsqueak · 28/04/2026 14:39

Oh, great to know, thank you.
Seems obvious now you say it!

NettleTea · 28/04/2026 15:30

so the nutracheck app is telling me I need to be putting 1200 calories into myself. I put in that I didnt do too much, my correct age and height and weight, and that I am on a GLP-1 diet

I saw that my usual coffee, milk and 2 sugars was 140 calories so it didnt take many of those...

but it feels like a big load of food compared to what I had been eating. Im just thinking 'fast 800, is 800 calories, and Ive seen lots of people on the weightloss threads saying that 1200 is nowhere near low enough to lose weight. Ive obviously seen other people saying if you dont eat enough then its 'starvation mode' and then others saying 'its just calories in and calories out'

But do I just need to believe the magic.

protein seems to be king.

and I slept a bit better last night

edited for atrocious spelling

monicagellerbing · 28/04/2026 15:56

Thanks ladies! Hoping for Monday (my weigh day) is 3lb or more loss so it’s a full stone gone forever!

pomegranatepie · 28/04/2026 16:58

So I tried to cancel my Voy subscription, as they want to charge me £244 for my next pen (5mg) and customer service immediately offered me £50 off my next two orders, just in case this helps anyone else!

I still don't know whether to increase my dose or not, week three, no side effects (other than the vivid dreams, which are exhausting me somewhat) and suppression not quite what it was the first two weeks, but food noise is still down, and I have no desire to eat sugar.

But I also don't want to get a couple of weeks into my second month of 2.5 and find it's stopped working... What is everyone else doing?

SantaElf · 28/04/2026 18:08

Been lurking a while and supporting everyone on!

My question is, what's the rule with increasing? Im prescribed through my GP and when I got my first prescription my nurse mentioned increasing right at 2nd pen. I do have a very high BMI and trying to get my type 2 diabetes under control, but I thought if 2.5 was still working then to continue with that?

Im only at beginning of week 2 and lost 5lbs the 1st week and need to let nurse know by the end of this week. Im so confused!

Cocachanel · 28/04/2026 18:17

@SantaElf I am also prescribed mj & I am sticking with 2.5 as the suppression is strong for me - maybe too strong as all I've had today and 2 cups of tea & a pack of Brave peas plus loads of water. Finally feeling a bit hungry so will sort out dinner soon!
I think 5 eould be too much for me right now.
