@NorthDevonBeachLover The pen needles only fit on the pens. If you buy separate 1ml syringes, they can either come with fixed needles, or you can get a type of syringe called Luer Lock syringes where you can attach and remove Luer Lock compatible needles. The needles you need for the Luer Lock syringes are different to the pen needles. You don't really need Luer Lock syringes and needles to extract the leftover medication, a fixed needle is fine.

These sorts of 1ml syringes have a fixed 8mm needle, for example:

https://ukmedi.co.uk/products/fms-micro-syringe-32g-8mm-1ml-fms-fms-32g-10ml-ukmedi-co-uk

You want a gauge of 30 or 32g, which is the same as the pen needle gauge. A length of 4 to 8mm is standard for a subcutaneous injection.

Thank you,
Would I use the same needle to inject with that I have drawn it out of the pen with then if it's a fixed needle?

My appetite came back a bit luckily and I managed to eat a bit more, but it seems to be affecting me pretty strongly so far! I think I assumed it would be less effective in the second week for some reason, but obviously it's having some sort of accumulative effect.

My second week. I had half of it with awful nausea. Then after 3 days was back to feeling ok. I wonder this too.

Anyone else having really intense crazy dreams? I am exhausted this morning after walking up several times because of adrenaline packed dreams. Work today will be challenging! Week two day four, and suppression and satiety are still pretty strong. Have been adding in a high protein snack on voys suggestion as I am struggling to get the calories in.

Other than that I have been feeling great, motivated and more energised than I have for ages, and my brain feels less peri foggy. Maybe the lack of food noise?

I have had more vivid dreams and a lot of really random stuff. I hadn't actually thought could be related...Blamed it on a snoring husband, keeping me in light sleep, never thought could be MJ.

@NorthDevonBeachLover yes, you would use the same needle to extract and then to inject, as it's fixed.

Thought so, I shall get some on order. Thank you for your help x

It's a thing apparently, lots of hormonal changes and changes to REM sleep. Hopefully it will settle a bit, they have been pretty intense!

Can I join? Did my first jab yesterday. Feels like all I’ve done is think “Am I hungry?” - decide I’m not and so not eat - but don’t know if that’s because I know I am trying to lose weight rather than because of the jab iyswim.

Isabelle70 · 24/04/2026 19:45

@MummynextdoorI am the same, first one yesterday and have not felt hungry at all. But I have had a salad and banana for lunch, then chicken, salad and jacket potato for dinner.

Wingingit11 · 24/04/2026 20:13

My sleep was massively awful on mj the first time I did it for a year and like clockwork it’s gone back to being awful this time! So annoying!

Wingingit11 · 24/04/2026 20:14

Had my next 5mg today and really happy it’s not the new style of one as planning to count clicks to 3.75 first time

NeedSleepNowPls · 24/04/2026 20:29

@thinkofsomethingdifferent I had the same with curry this week! I just made a basic chicken one and had what I thought was a smallish portion but was up all night with a bad stomach! Maybe it's a curry thing? I'm not tempted to have it again anytime soon anyway 😂

NeedSleepNowPls · 24/04/2026 20:32

I did my second jab last night and second weigh in this morning- 6lbs down from one week! Over the moon. It's probably all in my brain but my jeans feel looser already 😂

Aside from one bad night of stomach problems it's been pretty easy so far. Good food suppression until day 5ish, but I do have a sore jaw! Anyone else getting this? It's definitely only since starting mounjaro. I suspect it's from not drinking enough as the only other reason google gives is teeth grinding which I don't do

Yes I have a sore jaw and only now you mentioned it i felt it. Odd.

MyGardenDaisies · 24/04/2026 21:27

Omg I had a butter chicken curry last night with some bhajis and got cramps and burning in my belly today.

could totally be a coincidence and PMS, but not too keen on a curry now !

NeedSleepNowPls · 24/04/2026 21:35

Aah sorry @RosieSpring hope it's not too annoying now you've noticed it! Mine comes and goes and isn't painful as such it just feels tight? Or like I can really feel my jaw, which is weird. Hopefully once I finally drink enough water it'll go away

No no not at all. I was feeling something but didn't know if it was in my head or where but it's definitely from tensing my jaw.
I think I'm on edge wondering if this will all work.

custardlover · 24/04/2026 22:43

I think the curry thing might be about fat? A friend who has been on it about a year now says that fat really upsets her stomach so she needs to be very careful but a banana is apparently excellent for settling.

That was me the first week too! But a few weeks on, I think actually I am hungry. Or at least hungrier than in week 1. So I've ordered 5mg for my second month

thinkofsomethingdifferent · 24/04/2026 23:09

@NeedSleepNowPlsim not tempted to have one again either, I’ve had zero side effects on MJ but that was an absolute killer!

@Z0rr0 @NorthDevonBeachLover

https://ukmedi.co.uk/products/32g-pink-6mm-meso-relle-mesotherapy-needle-meso-relle-am326-ukmedi-co-uk

https://ukmedi.co.uk/products/1ml-reduced-dead-space-syringes-reduced-dead-space-lw1-ukmedi-co-uk

These are links for needles and syringes to extract the 'Golden dose'.

You can use one needle to extract and then change the needle for a fresh one to inject. Extraction blunts the needle a little.

Some pp report that using a syringe with a fixed needle is still quite sharp after extraction and does not really hurt when used to inject. Some say it's blunter.

FindmypalNas · 25/04/2026 07:28

@LWestYorks , I am so sorry to hear that. You went to some effort to get it and you must have had your reasons for ordering it.
Majority of people do not have side effects. You could start at a lower dose than 2.5mg, see how you go.

SilenceInside · 25/04/2026 08:11

@LWestYorks it’s not legal to sell or pass on prescription only medication.

SilenceInside · 25/04/2026 08:12

@LWestYorks the pens have long expiry dates and will keep unopened in the fridge until that date. Perhaps you could keep the pen as a back up if you change your mind later rather than throw it away?

Hello - Checking in with everyone. Love this thread.

Jab day for me today, week 3.

7 lbs off week 1
2 lbs off week 2

I'm still feeling a little cold and have felt ever so slightly sick once or twice but nothing to write home about. Still got lots more energy which is great.

I'm very happy so far.

I think I'll reorder another 2.5 pen this week. The suppression is working so well. Bit scared of 5. 😂

Well done to everyone.
