Came off MJ and the sodding planter fasciitis is back.

Been off MJ a couple of months now. Was on it for 10 months. Weight is steady BMI 20. The frigging plantar fasciitis (which completely went away) is back with a vengeance. I thought it was weight related but clearly the Mounjaro was having a direct effect. Tempted to go back on it.

Ok so I took a dose and in a few days it’s all subsided again. There’s the proof then.

The oestrogen in HRT does this for me. But then it gives me palpitations and makes me put on weight.

MJ has really helped my aches and pains - but then so has weights. Could be a bit of both maybe.

I am on here because I am contemplating mj - my bmi is 37. Right now I have the hobbling down the stairs thing in the morning, dodgey knees and a touch of PF. These types of positive side effects are all making me more interested in trying WLI. However, I just wanted to mention that a year or two ago I had a phase where I was doing at least one water fast a week, usually 24 hours and this had a similar effect in getting rid of pf and reducing aches. I can’t seem to get back into fasting unfortunately, but it might be worth trying if you need to come off mj and want to try another potential tool to help with inflammation.

Has anyone experienced relief from endo pain on MJ?

I don’t have endo but my periods are much shorter and less painful on MJ.

Interesting maybe it’s just eating so little food then.

I must admit, giving up processed sugar (going completely cold turkey) got rid of my aches and pains after about a week.

ShrankLastWinter · 05/04/2026 19:59

My pf and other inflammatory pains disappeared immediately on mj, as did gum disease. They’re stayed away during 8 months of maintenance (on 5mg) too, and I’m eating nearly 2000 calories a day now, so it’s definitely the mj not fasting for me.

Clearingaspace · 05/04/2026 23:53

I thought it could be that both fasting and mj (and giving up sugar, potentially) have an anti-inflammatory effect.

Since going on MJ I have not been able to change my diet much (because of things happening in life - I am hoping to soon when pressure eases), but have been eating less, but, but not at all fasting ot cutting back like that) - but definitely for me the MJ is amazingly effective at reducing inflammation and inflammatory pain (and if I am a few days late with the next injection, the inflammation starts to return).

GloiredeDijon · 06/04/2026 17:54

To those who think the positive effect on pain could be from giving up sugar and/ or eating an “anti inflammatory” diet I can confirm that this is not the case.

I still eat pretty much the same diet which I ate pre mounjaro which definitely includes sugar. I just eat a lower amount of calories overall.

It is the mounjaro which is reducing my inflammation.

I wish the NHS would prescribe this for me rather than the numerous drugs they are quite happy to prescribe which include buprenorphine, amitriptyline, naproxen, lidocaine patches (and these last ones cost the NHS £5 each at one per day!) which don’t actually help.

It would save them money and save me pain.

Clearingaspace · 06/04/2026 18:10

I wasn’t suggesting that it’s not the medication at work. I also hope the NHS widens the group they will prescribe mounjaro to - really frustrating if you have to pay for MJ while at the same time being prescribed less effective medication.

however people who can’t afford mounjaro once they have lost all the weight might need other strategies to try out until mounjaro is more widely available on the NHS or becomes more affordable

I am in the same situation entirely - and really wish I could be prescribed MJ by my rheumatologist. It is life changing for me (in terms of mobility / pain / functionality)…
