The thread about it was deleted - see screenshot. What does that mean? Was the poster pretending? Mistaken? I am confused

I'm still loosing so not maintainable yet. I'm doing 7.5 from a 15mg pen. Sometimes it's 5mg. It saves me 50% of the normal cost more or less.

Then your pen lasts for longer than 30 days?
I am going up to the next dose in my next order but worried that if the side effects are too much then i will microdose on my current dose. But wondered about the 30 day thing.

Yes it goes over 30 days. I clean it very carefully before I put a needle on and don't take pressure off the plunger until the used needle comes off. It lives in the fridge. It's a risk I know, but I'm OK with it..

Rosetime · 03/03/2026 11:36

Thanks @IncessantNameChanger . I appreciate your answer. I have been thinking about this too, just in case I needed to and i am okay with the risk.

I did wonder if the medication ceases to work after 30 days but sounds like it doesn't (after reading up on it, common sense had already sort of told me this but i still wondered).

IncessantNameChanger · 03/03/2026 19:26

Honestly it doesn't stop working in my experience. I always get the last dose out with syringe. For some unknown reason I did the whole dose this time and had all the side effects!

Just had an email from GetADrip about the new pens.

Lilly have formally announced that the new pen will be supplied in the UK from April. Once existing stocks are used up, that’s what we’ll be getting.
As per the photo someone posted earlier, it has a spacer so the plunger starts further down the pen.

Ggrrrgh! I was I could shift my last stone or so and come off.

I wonder if there will be another shortage like back in August?

wheresthesnowgone · 05/03/2026 19:10

I don't know about smaller pens but with my last 5 ml monjaro pen it was impossible to twist it in order to get the golden dose.

HereIGoOnceMore · 05/03/2026 19:18

Buggerations.

Ketra · 05/03/2026 19:24

@wheresthesnowgone twisting has been unreliable for about a year now - some people can still get it to work but a lot of people switched to insulin needles to avoid breaking the pen. The new smaller pens just won't have a golden dose at all, so the method won't matter anymore.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 06/03/2026 17:38

You still have a liitle bit extra left in the new pens, just not a full dose. I'd guestimate around a quarter or 3rd of a dose. (I've had 1 new pen so far as I'm not in the UK)

MrTiddlesTheCat · 06/03/2026 17:40

Here's a picture of mine after I'd used the 4th dose.

Do you have any insulin needles to extract what's left and see roughly how many 0.ml?

Has anyone found it difficult to insert the needle into the pen to extract the final dose? When I tried it, the needle bent.

No, sorry but I don't.

That sounds like user error. I've used syringes to extract every last drop from many pens, at least 20, without an issue.

IncessantNameChanger · 06/03/2026 20:09

My insulin needles are blunt barstards. So painful to use. Twisting and breaking the pen didn't help as it's just broken and useless then.

I wonder if the pen seal hardens if it's kept in the fridge. Before extracting next month's golden dose I'll leave it out of the fridge for a day.

SilenceInside · 06/03/2026 21:36

@wheresthesnowgone I keep my pens in the fridge all the time and have never bent a needle when extracting. The pens can be kept for many months unopened in the fridge so it seems unlikely that it would make the seal harden.

Yeah, I was just wondering why the needle wouldn't pierce the seal.
