Small magnesium tablets? Anyone?

I keep reading good things about magnesium for constipation and sleep but I’ve ordered 3 different brands from Amazon now and they’ve all been too big for me to swallow.

Has anyone bought any that are normal (paracetamol sized?) pills please? If so please link!

thank you

I struggle with taking tablets since I nearly choked on one of those chunky vitamin tablets 😬

I ended up with these which are tiny www.amazon.co.uk/Grounded-Magnesium-Tablets-Glycinate-Swallow/dp/B0DPR7QNP7

Magnesium do tend to be a bit horse pill like. I compared my mag glycinate (better for sleep) and mag citrate (better for constipation) pills with some paracetamol. The mag citrate, brand SMUG from Amazon, were smaller. Not quite paracetamol size but close. Pic, balanced on a 20p piece for scale.😁

You can get unflavoured magnesium power. I’ve never tried it, so don’t know how palatable it is.

mogtheexcellent · 15/02/2026 20:03

I take magnesium gummies from amazon. Not sure how well they compare to other methods but i struggle with large size tablets.

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 15/02/2026 20:16

Whyyy are magnesium tablets so huge?!

These ones are the worst I've tried, giant chalky bricks that I had to break in half to get down so avoid these ones triple magnesium

I've got these at the moment which are much easier to swallow 4 in 1 magnesium

@FrothyCothy thanks, I'm going to order these to try next!

I take magnesium powder from Holland and Barrett, it’s flavourless and does the trick

HollyBollyBooBoo · 16/02/2026 07:11

I’ve bought the Habi Magneisum gummies from Boots, slightly odd texture to other gummies but got used to it. Better than trying to swallow the massive pills!

A friend of mine recommended these. Not for me, I'd rather swallow massive tablets than drink anything, but she is getting on great with it for sleep.

https://www.healthy-metal.com/

It's a lemon and magnesium glycinate drink.

I was going to suggest this. I got a 5 day trial for just postage recently...but not yet tried it!
I take the huge Nutrition Geeks 3 in 1. Some times I just can't swallow it and gag though 😔

unsync · 16/02/2026 07:18

Nutrition Geeks do a 3 in 1 capsule that can either be swallowed or undone so you can just dissolve the powder in water.

Hermiaxx · 16/02/2026 07:31

Wise owl magnesium tablets are small and perfectly formed for easy swallowing (also additive free!) - so highly recommend

Ritaskitchen · 16/02/2026 07:38

Buy a pill cutter and make them smaller

I’ve just tried the trial of these! I have it with twice as much water as suggested as quite a strong but not unpleasant flavour. I start it after dinner. It really has been helping me fall asleep faster!

PearlTeapot · 16/02/2026 11:35

Thank you everyone! I cant find a trial for Heavy Metal drinks so if anyone comes across it please could you link it here?

I've ordered some from the recommendations and will keep this thread and try them all!

CloakedInGucci · 16/02/2026 13:19

I take some from Holland and Barrett - they’re but big they have a groove down the middle so can be cut in half.

AmythestBangle · 16/02/2026 13:21

Try mega mag Calmeze powder, I like the flavour and I think it works well.

Booksandwine80 · 16/02/2026 13:32

I have the nutrition geeks one from Amazon. They are capsules but it says on the pack you can open the capsule and disolve the powder in a drink if you struggle to swallow tablets.

LittleGreenDragons · 16/02/2026 13:34

Sometimes you can't cut a large tablet in half as usually the depth is also a lot more, usually twice the depth of a paracetamol tablet, so it still gets stuck.

Does anyone have a link for the gumm.ies?

Edit nvm, those are citrate. Need the glycinate ones if anyone knows

Isanyonereallyanonymous · 16/02/2026 13:39

I use the Trip magnesium gummies. There's a few different variations but these were the 'strongest' ones

PearlTeapot · 22/02/2026 17:53

I managed to get a Heavy Metal free trial and they do taste nice, but they're glycinate and I need citrate really for the constipation.

@GiveMeWordGames thanks for taking this photo! Are the smug ones the top ones (the capsules?)

I buy mine from Superdrug. Not big at all.
