Only want to lose two stone

Selfcareaddict · 15/02/2026 11:27

Really want to lose two stone for up and coming summer events. Got quite a lot on and my clothes aren't fitting as nicely, I do exercise a lot but am currently injured so have gone into a bit of a panic.

Considering 2.5mg of mounjaro, lots of friends have used it for more substantial weight losses and they've done amazing!

How much did people generally lose on the 2.5mg dose? Obviously I can't exercise at the moment as I usually would so I'm hoping I can be on mounjaro for a month or two until I'm back fighting fit!

I had a BMI of 32 but only wanted to lose 2 stone as I also know realistically I can’t maintain too low a weight (been there, done that, failed). I started in November and I’m 1 stone 6 pounds down and on 7.5mg. You have no idea how slow or fast a loser you will be but what I would say is think about whether you can afford higher doses if you need them because the cost goes up quite quickly quite a lot

Hi, I have lost 1.5 stone since 5th Jan on mounjaro. I also had bmi 30 at 5ft 1. Best thing I have done. It was easy to order, submitted photo, ID and health questionnaire and it arrived 2 days later. Side effects have been v minimal. I have changed my lifestyle, it cuts out the cravings. 2.5 has worked well for me.

SnacklessWonder · 17/02/2026 10:01

I am short and my BMI was just short of 31 (I also would have qualified at 27 due to other conditions). I did 4 months (4 pens = 1 x 2.5mg, 3 x 5mg) and lost 3 stone in that time. I came off completely December 2024 and am half a stone lighter than when I stopped.

Best thing I ever did - my weight was creeping up and up and I needed to take back control which MJ really helped me to do. I find maintaining so much easier than losing weight!

Selfcareaddict · 18/02/2026 06:55

So I have gone into a calorie deficit on my own, I'm going to try and do it for a week on my own and then I'll go onto the Mounjaro maybe next week. Worried about the side effects as I have a busy week so trying to get into the routine before I even jab really.
Have been hitting my protein targets and eating 1200 or less calories. So need to keep in the rhythm!

Good luck selfcareaddict That's a really good plan, get you in the right frame of mind. 2 stone is very possible on 2.5mg of MJ. First stone easier / quicker than second. Very achievable before the summer. Let us know how you get on.

Sweetbeansandmochi · 19/02/2026 19:20

Hello @Selfcareaddict I want to lose just under two stone. I have been reading all the threads and seemingly can get it through voy at my current weight. I am 5 foot and want to feel good for the summer too. At the moment though every time I go to click to the payment page I chicken out. Have you actually got it already?

Colinthedaxi · 19/02/2026 19:32

Another person bimbling along on 2.5, I haven’t always taken it every seven days if I’ve had a nice meal out or weekend away planned. So I’ve just finished my second pen from early December and am down from 11.10 to 10.6 in that time. Hugely fast weight loss was never the goal for me, I’ve had next to no side effects and feel great. Definitely worth a go?

IwanttoWFH · 19/02/2026 20:48

I was on 2.5mg for five weeks and lost 8.25lbs. I then moved up to 5mg and lost 12lbs in eight weeks. I then moved up to 7.5mg and stayed on this for seven months, losing another 24lbs = 44.25lbs in total. I have been maintaining on 5mg since May 2024. My BMI was 30.9 when I started. It’s now 22.7

I have purchased yes, it's in my fridge ready for when I'm going to take it but am currently day 5 of my calorie deficit without.
Actually feeling really good at the moment, sticking to a high protein, low calorie/fat diet but of course I am only on day 5!

I am glad you are feeling good and it’s going well even before you take it. I think it’s good prep to be eating healthy before taking it. And you might find you don’t even need to to.

I was BMI 28 and met the criteria for a medical reason (not diabetes).

I started 1st November, have been on 2.5mg (temporarily went up to 3.75 but didn't need to so went back down). I'm 5ft 4, age 46, starting weight 12 stone, lost 1 stone in 1st 4 weeks, am now 9 stone 8 lbs so in just over 3 months have lost 2.5 stone, BMI 23 dead on. Would like to get to under 9 stone ideally. I have lost average of 2.3lb per week but obviously a lot was in 1st 4 weeks so a really reasonable and healthy loss in last 2 months.

I have focused on high protein, low carb. Eating clean majority of the time, have lacked on the exercise so need to improve on that side. I regularly check my TDEE to ensure my deficit of calories is correct and so far I have never lost less than 1.2lb in any one week. No plateaus yet either.

It really isnt just for morbidly obese people, in fact many doctors working in fields where being a healthy weight really affects certain conditions are disappointed it can't be prescribed at much lower BMIs.

I have honestly found it a miracle medication, I have not been overweight all my life, just for a few years due to various reasons (some mental, some physical). I had some nausea and tiredness at first but concentrated on lots of water and eating well. I feel completely normal now, just low appetite and feel full very quickly.

I do feel I have been a super responder to it, not sure why but it has changed so much for me. I buy 5mg pen and use it fof 9/10 weeks.

Do you mind if I ask do you only take the prescribed dose every two weeks then? I’ve been thinking about doing this due to the increase in cost, wondered if it works the same.

I take 2.5mg a week (30 clicks of the pen) so t lasts twice as long making it loads cheaper. I automatically bought a 5mg pen before I'd finished my 1st 2.5 one but realised I wasnt going to be able to manage on 5 so just halved the dose. I keep it in the fridge the whole time.

For many 2.5 isnt enough but it seems to work well for me.

Do you not have issues with supply due to the break?

Topbobble · 21/02/2026 08:14

My sister sounds similar OP, around the same BMI and has historically done really well for a few weeks on a plan and then slips and is back to the start. She started on MJ a few months ago now, and whilst weight loss is slow and steady, its been a game changer for her. She has been able to maintain the balanced, nutrition focused and calorie controlled diet for that time without entering the usual cycle. As long as you see it as as a tool to support (as it sounds you do) rather than an easy answer to it then i am sure you will do well.

Currently i am ordering monthly so have a bit of a stock but will find a maintenance supplier soon who allow bigger breaks and buy 2.5mg pens and use half of that dose or spread them out.

Sweetbeansandmochi · 22/02/2026 18:57

Hello, so I have paid the money but I have to wait until tomorrow to have a video call with someone before I know if I am going to be accepted. @Selfcareaddict I had already decided on Voy before seeing you had gone with them too, but that is the company I have gone with as well. I had been trying on my own for ages…but I still wonder if they are going to approve me or not. We’ll see I suppose!!

Selfcareaddict · 27/02/2026 13:48

I still haven't actually started the Mounjaro. I've managed to lose half a stone in 12 days which I understand is prominently water weight. My protein intake and hydration is really good at the moment so when the weight loss stalls I feel I'll be ready for the Mounjaro!

It's actually crazy how much energy I have since I've started the calorie deficit though!

@Selfcareaddict that is great to have lost half a stone without it! I did get it and I am injected on Thursday and so far so good.

I do similar to you, and likewise am building up a stock. Pens all good until March 2027, so no issues there.

Interesting you mention a high protein/low fat diet. For me, I found high protein/low carb was most effective. I haven’t really reduced fat.

LadyClumber · 01/03/2026 11:31

Another shortie her. My BMI also was 30 when I started. It took me about 4 months weeks to lose 2 stone and that was with disciplined calorie counting via Nutracheck, lifting (heavy for me) weights several times per week, and daily dog walks with a very active spaniel! I increased my dosage very slowly to 5mg and have been titrating down since reaching my target weight. Apart from the weight loss, MJ has had other health benefits for me so I am intending to stay on as low a dose as possible for the long term.

My opinion is that weight loss injections are for people with a lot more weight to lose.

If you are only “on the cusp” of meeting the criteria with this relatively small amount of weight to lose I would try other means.

Although very effective for many people (myself included) there are risks of side effects and the definite risk of losing money!

Your choice of course though.

On the cusp of obese isn’t a small amount to lose, that means they’re several stone overweight. Remember there is a whole category between healthy weight and obese as a buffer.

Probably the same for me however I find that having high protein naturally endures the carbs and fat anyway, I rarely go over my carbs/fat % in a day if I get the right amount of protein. I tend not to worry about the fat content over anything else.

Totally, on the cusp of obese is stones overweight, thats not a small amount for anyone to lose, esp with willpower alone.

I had a relatively small amount to lose compared to some, my BMI was 28 when I started but this was still just under 2 stone over the very top of healthy. That's around 20% of my body weight so not insignificant.

keffie12 · 01/03/2026 13:08

@Selfcareaddictyou won't get monjaro on the NHS. You are not overweight enough.

That was what my gp told me. I am at the low end of diabetic arrange, on cholesterol tablets, and 4 stone overweight.

I am on Monjaro now. In his words you can have it but you will have to go private and fund it yourself which is what I've done.

For the record yes it works! I've been on it 5 weeks on 2.5, have lost a stone, eating 3 small meals, a day, and a small supper.

Don't do it by the only eat when your hungry method I've seen many do. Monjaro is a tool to lose weight, alongside healthier eating methods so you can get it off, retraining your brain to eat properly

For most of us it's about portion control, and making intentional food choices.

I use a free app alongside my monjaro to keep an eye on calorie defecit. The majority of us don't treat food like fuel to keep us gently going, that's why so many today are overweight me included.

Treating food as fuel just as I would keep a car topped up with petrol, or batteries charged is the best way I have found.

It's how it used to be before the ratrace and modern society took over, where food is an after thought, we eat on the go, and don't look at why, and what we are eating.

Just to confirm I'm not moaning about how life has changed. I love the generational changes, and how much richer life is etc. However there are always downsides as well as up to everything. The way most of us eat, me included, without intention is understandable how life is today...

I never did eat brilliantly however I never struggled with my weight. That started when I developed health issues and wasn't so mobile anymore.

So from my own perspective go for it. The rest is just bringing in my thoughts and experiences which may or may not be helpful to some reading this
