Weight loss injections/treatments

Discuss weight-loss injections and treatments, including personal experiences. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any treatments.

I know the answer, but I want you to talk sense into me anyway.

I’ve started on 2.5mg of mounjaro and I lost 2lb first week, 3lb second week (I think my period impacted the bigger loss) I haven’t weighed this week yet but need to decide whether to stay at 2.5mg or move to 5mg this week.

I am struggling a bit with side effects, most of the time fine, but I am having some horrible bouts of nausea that pass quickly and I can usually pin point what I have done to cause it. My appetite is definitely suppressed.

I KNOW I need to stay at 2.5mg, and 5mg will likely be an unnecessarily rough transition considering I am losing well, but the thing that’s holding me back is if I suddenly stall and regret not going up a level. I have a holiday in May so I guess I’m worried about delaying loss (sorry that sounds so vain, obviously I’m doing this for health but it’s a particularly big holiday and I am very enticed at the thought of not hating having my photograph taken…)

Anyway I know I’m being daft, can I have some reassurance that if 2.5mg seems to be working well for me that it’s worth sticking it out another month? Anyone had similar and managed to maintain momentum?

Definitely don’t stick with Voy if you don’t have to, lots of money to be saved by checking the monj link above.

I lost 4 stone on 2.5!

Thanks so much duly noted on the needles! I will see what I weigh on Weds (that’s my weigh in day) and I will decide whether to ask to remain on 2.5mg, or get the larger pen and additional needles for ‘insurance’.

Either way I am firmly assured not to progress to injecting 5mg yet.

It’s not the scales that need to be the deciding factor, it’s what you are eating. You haven’t said?

I don’t calorie count. I’m focussing on meeting fibre and protein goals, and only eating whole foods. I’m certainly eating less than when I wasn’t on it as I’m not snacking (which is my downfall, I actually have a pretty balance diet, it’s snacking between meals that’s the issue)
