Back on it after 3 months off and weight gain

That’s me started 2.5mg yesterday
I got into my healthy bmi range (just) back in October
I came off Mounjaro and have not been making healthy food choices, totally my own fault and have been putting weight back on
In the 3 month period I have put on 18lbs which I’m disgusted with
never mind I feel like I’m in the right frame of mind now to go forwards
Anyone else on their second journey with Mounjaro?

What studies, I think you need to link to that as It looks like nonsense to me.

@Disturbia81 I recognise your user name , you’ve never been in weight loss injections is that correct, are against them and are all over these threads giving people advise on them? Looking at your posting history this seems correct. So why didn’t you just tell the poster asking you’d never taken them and have no idea?

I feel (intuitively without evidence) that if you come off Mounjaro after say losing 3 stone in 3 months your body will know it is starving and your hunger/food drive will be very strong. I think this because that would be the case if someone had lost that weight not on Mounjaro. However I think if someone comes off Mounjaro after maintaining on it for a year or so after their loss their body would not be starving so their hunger would be much more manageable - especially if they supported their appetite with lots of protein and fibre. Thats just my guess.

Agreed. That has been my life experience of dieting, so I think it’s a weight loss thing not necessarily a WLI thing. I truly believe after a period of weight loss your body tries its hardest to get the weight back up. Slowing down metabolism, ramping up hunger hormone etc, I’ve even read that unconscious things like fidgeting are slowed to expend less calories. I guess the trick is to ride it out long enough that your body feels safe again and chills out.

Yes I did
I actually gorged on food some days I’m not going to lie then I used to feel awful
I have also found it really difficult to get out and walk as much due to the weather which has not helped
I can’t make excuses however I did feel hungrier than normal when I stopped mounjaro
x

I'm not big on exercise either and haven't at all throughout my journey. I work long hours often 11-12 a day and sometimes 6 days a week in the nhs so find it difficult to find time to exercise on top! Get up at 5.30am, return home 6-6.30pm

Hi @Mysticmaidenwhat counts as ‘mildly diabetic’ ?

Towards the bottom of the range of HBA1C for diabetes, starts at 48. 42-47 is prediabetic. Mild diabetes is usually recommended to be treated through lifestyle changes like food and exercise rather than medication, except my GP neglected to tell me about my results.

These articles are about weight loss in general not weight loss drugs.

Have you got the NHS app, you can look at your results on there.

After weight loss, appetite increases higher than baseline. It's one of the physiological mechanisms that drives weight regain. After stopping WLI there is a far more abrupt rebound because the hormones have been artificially altered via medication so the impact of the rebound/increased appetite is experienced as more pronounced.

Ok, so again I ask the exact same question, for the second time, can you link to any trial data at all to support this.

Well done op. And sorry for the derail but it’s important when people post misinformation it’s corrected, there is nothing to support appetite rebound is stronger after stopping, and I’m more than happy to be corrected on that, but it seems the poster is unable to back up what they are prolificly posting.

Well done, I have lost 4kg

🥳 we can do this

That’s amazing, there’s no better feeling than being back in control of ourselves!

Still nothing to back up your ascertain that appetite is stronger after weight loss injections rather than stopping any other diet then? Will you request your posts are deleted as misinformation?

PluckyChancer · 03/02/2026 17:40

@Disturbia81have you ever taken any WLI?

Have you got the NHS app, you can look at your results on there.

My results weren't on there even though I had the app as my previous GP didn't update it with any results. It was only last June when I changed GPs that I found out my results from over 2-3 years of tests before.

ToriMounj · 12/02/2026 09:37

I’ve just restarted. I was on 2.5 for a long time and lost 3st slow and steady. I think came off for about 9 months. My appetite stayed reduced for months afterwards but at Christmas I just went a bit mad and gained a few more pounds over December and January, up 12 lbs from
my best weight.
so im back to nip in bud, and I’d like to drop another couple of stone really.
im a bit of a wimp and not good at tolerating side effects, so staying on a low dose for as long as it works.
I’ve lost 5lb in week one. I’m eating about 800 cals a day, like the fast 800. I have a low tdee so I have to drop really significantly.
