Just about to start my GLP-1 adventure and would be interested to know from the old hands here what your non-scale victories have been so far? I’m hoping for weightloss, sure, but am also hoping there are some unexpected other benefits of the journey so please share yours. Thanks

Erm...fun things.. recently fitting into size 8 jeans after 12 months and starting at a size 18...
NSV hmmm, cheaper food bills 🤣🤣

Beekman · 01/02/2026 01:20

That’s incredible, @Hihibye I am a size 18 jeans now and I cannot believe I could ever be a size 8! Well done.

I’ve been able to stop two of my diabetes meds and my blood pressure is now normal range. Also down two sizes since I started Mounjaro in July.

SilenceInside · 01/02/2026 01:52

My blood pressure has gone from high normal to optimal, although I’m still taking medication for it. Hope to reduce or even come off it eventually.

I’ve completed Couch to 5k and now run several times a week, working on speed and stamina now.

Now a size 12-14, down from a size 24. I very much enjoy being able to buy whatever clothes I want and my size pretty much always being in stock.

Beekman · 01/02/2026 01:52

Am hoping for a similar result, @Overtheatlantic. Delighted for you! How different do you feel?

That was me 12 months ago! 7 stone down now x

Beekman · 01/02/2026 02:01

These are great. I’ve been on BP meds for years, I would absolutely love to be off them!

Sold lots of clothes on Vinted
Bought a few things size 10/12 which I’m loving
Suitcase full of size 10/12 that I plan to get out today and see what I like
More energy at the gym .. upped classes from 2 to 5 a week
Sleeping better
Skin looks better
Generally feel happier - more satisfied with life

SaltwaterSwimmer · 01/02/2026 07:02

Being able to reach my back to rub in body lotion!
On a serious note… my blood pressure has gone down, I can walk SO far and I’m sleeping better.
And apparently I’ve stopped snoring!
I’m down 4 stone since September (started WLI in November), still have a long way to go but there are so many positives already 😊

DarkForces · 01/02/2026 07:10

I can take hrt in pill form rather than faffing with pumps and patches, my joints don't hurt when I walk, I can put my socks on standing up, I fit into tight seats easily and I'm size 10 and able to wear pretty much what I fancy including a bikini for the first time ever. The gp was very pleased with my loss when I saw her last month and I've gone from at high risk of all sorts of horrible diseases back to normal risk. I also like myself when I look in the mirror and am fascinated by being able to feel my bones! I lost about 1/3 of my body weight- from 13.7 to 9.11 stone and been maintaining since September

ShawnaMacallister · 01/02/2026 07:12

I can now do the sit to stand test without losing any points :)

canaritini · 01/02/2026 07:16

I've been on Mounjaro for one year now. Since then

  • my diabetes 2 has vanished.
  • my blood pressure has improved immensely.
  • I dropped 2 sizes in clothes (from size 20/22 to 16).
  • I can walk for miles without getting exhausted (and have taken on the habit of a daily walk).
  • For my next flight I won't need a seat belt extender.
  • I like myself in almost every photo.
Go for it, OP!
Rumpledandcrumpled · 01/02/2026 07:30

I was taken off my bp meds within six months, as my weight dropped my gp who was monitoring me started reducing the dosage, monthly basically, I was on max dose of two. My sleep apnea has also gone and I’ve no stiffness in my ankles any more.

im a size 18 down to an 8. The change in my appearance is startling. Even to me. And I’ve been maintaining for about 11 months on a low dose.

as I onky drink now when socialising, and knocked the weekend or mid week bottle of wine on the head, used to drink about 2 bottles a week, and now drink 3 litres of water a day, workout five to six days a week, and eat a clean and healthy diet, with lots of protein, fruit and veg, I look much younger, and I’m in my fifties. The fat face, double chins, big belly and matronly bust was very ageing.

my skin and eyes are clear and bright, and you can see I work out from my body shape and muscle definition.

my style has changed, I have some gorgeous clothes, mainly bought new from vinted, high end high st, like me and em or Reiss, Massimo Dutti, max mara etc, and I never wear black any more, I wear a lot of paler colours, tan, cream, pale greens and blues. I used to live in black stretchy clothing. Now I don’t feel the need to hide.

and the biggest surprise is I got shocking hangovers before. Even a single glass of wine would disrupt my sleep, now I can drink as much as a bottle (likely more but not tried it) when out with friends over a long evening and I have no hangover at all. It’s like when I was in my 20s,

they are doing further trials but they think the meds are anti ageing. Basically everything we do as we age leaves a marker on our internal organs, be it drinking or catching a virus, and as much as we have recovered, the marker never goes, the cells are permanently damaged. That marker takes the form of inflammation.

so by reducing inflammation our cells can regenerate, and initial trials have shown it either slows or stops ageing, and in some reverse it. Not our skin, that’s collagen, but our internal organs. But of course when you fix those, it’s visible on the outside,

i would urge anyone on them to do this in a healthy manner, it’s not just about the number on the scales, it’s about having a healthy diet, consuming enough protein to protect muscle at all costs, doing strength training and being fully hydrated. Then when you hit goal go immediately into body recomp, up the protein as you up the calls, keep getting the body fat down whilst you build muscle and maintain your weight. Then go into maintaining that.

UnimaginableWindBird · 01/02/2026 08:52

Bodyweight exercises get so much easier when are moving a lighter body.

My joint pain has mostly gone

I have fewer headaches.

Related to the above two points - I used to take painkillers loads, but now it's a rare event.

I can jump!

I went dancing last night and could dance better and for longer.

I can cut my toenails without awkward contortions.

I can fit into narrower gaps.

piefacedClique · 01/02/2026 08:57

Seeing the difference in the tops of my arms. Sounds silly but they go straight down now rather than bulging outwards.

Seeing friends who I haven’t seen in a long time… we met up with our holiday friends this summer… I started last summer and their reactions were incredible.

Being confident posting a picture of myself online…. Usually refuse to look at images of myself.

Buying a size medium clothes rather than XL and thinking…. These will be too big shortly!

best decision I’ve made starting mounjaro

Edited

Totally get the feeling bones thing. I often lie in bed in the morning and am surprised by hip bones being there.

For me
menopause symptoms reduced
heartburn gone
hayfever symptoms reduced
running fast again
looking good in size 8 jeans

HereIGoOnceMore · 01/02/2026 10:27

My confidence has soared.

I can run faster and don’t get quite so red and sweaty. Now I’m not the fat woman making the pavement bounce, I am less self-conscious about exercising in public anyway.

I still have uneaten chocolate from Christmas. (previously unheard of).

My HbA1c is back within normal range and my cholesterol much improved.

I can wear - and look good in - size 10 jeans.

Good luck OP - it’s such a positive thing to do for yourself.

Buscake · 01/02/2026 10:39

I’ve gone from size 18 to size 10
i can look at myself in the mirror and in photos
i no longer grab a cushion to cover my tummy when I sit down!
train/bus/plane/theatre/cinema seats are soo roomy now
ive adjusted my handbag straps because there is less bulk for the bag to get round if that makes sense
I’ve had to invest in lots of thermal underwear because I am now so cold without all the inbuilt insulation!
walking is a joy
I workout every day (I built up to this): either run, walk, lift weights, swim. It’s just easy and part of my life now
when my little boy hugs me his arms easily encircle my body
I have bones! Forgot they were there before

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 01/02/2026 10:50

Being able to wear my wedding ring again ❤️

Rumpledandcrumpled · 01/02/2026 11:20

The running surprised me too. I just use the treadmill but I can run solidly now without stopping for some considerable time and quite fast, it takes a huge amount more to get out of breath. It always surprises me.

also for me the difference in sleeping a solid 8 hours now the sleep apnea has gone, the difference a good nights sleep makes is enormous.

but if I’m honest it really is my aappearance I find the most surprising. I did this for health and all my blood tests show me healthier than I have been for years.

but the appearance is the one that hits me every day. I looked heavily pregnant before, with a very round extended tummy, now it’s flat with a ring of muscle, my face is so different, like it used to be, you can see my cheekbones again, and my jaw line is firm. and I look very different in clothes, not just size but as I said up thread as I’ve changed my dress style and colours.

everyfhing was black and stretchy before, and honestly not nice, just cheap stuff as I tried to hide the fat, often my clothes were also a bit done in too, now I wear much looser clothes, wide leg trousers, close fitting tops, figure skimmin midi dresses/skirts, slouchy jumpers, short fitted jackets, lots of silk, cashmere etc and I love pale muted colours as they suit me, so that’s the main stay, but also wear navy, charcoal, wine, olive green etc, but never black. It just makes me think of fat me and I don’t want to be that way again,

Primitivo · 01/02/2026 11:48

@etchedinstone it hadn't occurred to me until now that I don't think I had any hayfever last summer... I had put that down to peri? But perhaps it was glp instead.

Zempy · 01/02/2026 12:05

I lost about five and a half stone in a year. Am now size 10 top and size 6/8 bottoms.

My cholesterol levels were dangerously high and are now 3.5. I can wear clothes I really like, and feel so much more comfortable and confident.
