Anyone tired the daily tablets?

I’ve been interested in WLI since the start but not brave enough to face the possible side effects so am looking for anyone with experience of the oral form of GLP-1s. They’ve been out here in the US for a few weeks so not a lot of documented personal experience yet. Not sure if they’re available in the UK.

Looking at oral tirzepatides though open to others and hoping to lose 40-50lbs total

Thanks in advance

They’re not out in the U.K. yet.

Thanks, @ArseInTheCoOpWindow

If I do go for it, I will update here

The only tablet that's been available in the UK is Rybelsus which is the older format of semaglutide in tablet form. It's not really available for weight loss anymore so I don't know if you'd find anyone who has tried it here.

Thanks.

I just got a prescription for Wegovy tablets, starting dose, so I will let you know how I get on. Very nervous.

Where did you get the prescription from?

My GP, online. (I see him in person usually but it’s a snow day so he is doing online appointments only today). I’m in the US.

would the side effects not be the same regardless of method of consumption?

Apparently they are less severe with the tablets. Let’s see.

As someone who is super sensitive to side effects l’d rather have the option to stop after a day than a week.

Saxendar gave me horrific anxiety. I couldn’t have handled it for a week. But they were daily injections. So l just stopped them.

ThePrecisionsifthisislove · 26/01/2026 21:02

Semaglutide 14mg prescribed by diabetic clinic NHS Scotland.

monicagellerbing · 26/01/2026 21:15

I’m taking Rybelsus, I’m just up to 9mg and finally starting to notice that im not as hungry, managing to eat less and sometimes skip a meal. No side effects. I tried Mounjaro once and had horrendous side effects that put me in bed for 4 days, never again!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 26/01/2026 21:39

I tried Rybelsus. I found it ok. No horrible side effects. It also worked against anxiety well.

However l found 14mg made me hungry. And then they won’t prescribe any higher than that. You have to go on Wegovy after that.

Funny you should say that as that's what I'm finding with the 14 mg

Don't be nervous about WLI give them a go! I've lost 7 stone on MJ in 12 months the best decision ever :) some side effects but all manageable x

Please update us on this thread as you go on! I’m sure lots of us are interested as it will no doubt arrive here eventually. Good luck!

Gettingbysomehow · 26/01/2026 22:08

Ive never had a single side effect with the injections and lost 5 stone. A lot of people don't.

Beekman · 26/01/2026 22:08

I have to go into the pharmacy to sort out the cost of the tablets. $1500 for a 30 day supply so I can only assume my insurance flat-out refused to pay. I have a coupon from Wegovy to bring it down to $150 but I need to check if this is just for the first month.

I tried them

I started on injections and they were really effective, loved them, no side effects except, that I kept avoiding taking them because Im squeamish about takign injection so they sat in the fridge for another day, the another day, then maybe tomorrow, then the next day and so on and so on and I realised I was just putting off using them

So I thought I would switch to the tablets and they were horrendous for me. I was sick for 4 days straight on one tablet. So I didnt carry on with them!

But they wont have that effect on everyone.

Beekman · 27/01/2026 02:05

Thanks @soupyspoon

Sorry to hear they didn’t agree with you. I’m thinking if it’s really bad, I can just stop taking them and the effects will wear off more quickly. Can I ask which oral you were on? Was it Rybelsus?

Yes that was the one, it was about 4 or 5 years ago, I cant even remember

I had WLS in the end as I thought I wont be consistent with the injections and that would be a waste of time and money and Im not spending the rest of my life obese so it was the only next way

I am very championing of the WLI/WLM even though they were not my final solution because if you can manage them its not invasive and as we all know, you have a far far better chance of getting the weight off and being healthy, than without them (or surgery), you also have a better chance of maintaining your weight at the end than other methods because we need a physical intervention to support us to manage obesity.

The needle is literally as fine as a hair. I cant tell if its even pieced my skin! I have to look hard.

my point is what is there to be afraid of?

Gettingbysomehow · 27/01/2026 12:16

I wasnt afraid, I just didnt like doing it, so avoided doing it because you have to do it to yourself. Not a great strategy for someone who wants to lose weight, I was just explaining why I moved onto the tablets, its not discussion about people that dont like needles

Beekman · 27/01/2026 15:16

I’m not afraid of the needle or injecting myself, I am afraid of the side effects. Apparently with the pills, they can be less dramatic. I am also concerned about my hair falling out and the inevitable ageing which comes with quick weightloss.

I lost 100lbs+ on my own but cannot seem to get to my goal weight so I was hoping this would help.
