I’ve been on MJ since May. Started out with a bmi of 30 and 4 stone to lose. At first it was a breeze, I had minimal side-effects and good appetite suppression and I lost weight pretty quickly. I started on 2.5mg and increased every couple of months, I’m now on 10mg and have been for 6 weeks. However since I went up to 7.5 (which I was only on for a month before going up to 10) I’ve felt it’s become less and less effective. Going up to 10 made no difference and now I feel like I have an almost normal appetite. I’ve lost 3 stone but my weight stayed the same for about 2 months and in the last month I’ve put on about 4lbs. I’m planning on going up to 12.5 on the next order but I don’t think it’ll make much difference as the last increase didn’t. Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do? Did you find 12.5 or 15 to be effective if 10 wasn’t?

I haven’t read everybody else’s answers but I’m 7 stone down on it. Last year 10mg stopped working for me so I went up to 12.5 for a few weeks and literally nothing wasn’t working at all. I did a week of 15 and again nothing. Then I randomly decided to do 10mg and see what happened. And 10mg hit for me. I learned about this from a lady who was coming back down and was worried but said coming down doses her suppression was better than ever! Worth a go and cheaper ££. I also find when I use an insulin needle it works so much better than the one for on the pen.

This is all psychosomatic. The type of needle can't have any impact on the effectiveness of the drug, and it's also not possible that a lower dose will be more effective than a higher one. The effects fluctuate, and you've got confirmation bias.

Oyi · 18/01/2026 19:01

15mg is definitely becoming less effective for me. I've lost 9st so far in a year but still have another stone to go.

Food noise is high and cravings for junk are bad. I didn't eat chocolate, cake, takeaways etc. for 10 months but early December the cravings started creeping back in and I just obsess over food 24/7 again.

I've never really had appetite suppression, it was just an occasional side effect that didn't last long, but I did experience satiety and now even that has diminished. It's taking more and more to fill me up and quell the hunger.

I'm careful with my calories but these past 3 weeks the hunger is painful and I have been eating more. Fortunately it's just been maintenance calories so haven't gained but I have had to work hard stay at maintenance and not go over.

WaryOchreZebra · 18/01/2026 19:06

Yeah I've been on it since a year and a half (since aug 2024) and it probably stopped being as effective after 3 months but very much so after a year - food noise back, eat despite not being hungry, eating junk. I suspect though it because I was really strict and not eating any junk or processed food at all those first 3 months and as I started letting them creep in, my mind craved them more and more and rendered the mj as less effective. I dont think I am working with it anymore and I wonder if I start being super healthy again and small portions, will I start feeling less desire to overeat and eat junk and it'll cut out the noise and allow me to make better decisions again.

I've stayed on 5mg anyway as feel like if I'm this bad with a lower dose, I'll be really awful on no dose at all - even though I am now gaining weight and hoping I can find the way to kick start myself again and re-lose.
For reference I was 14.9stone when I started, down to 9.7stone a year later but creeped back up to 11.9 currently since last Aug.

I started March last year - have lost 2 stone, about 10lbs to be no longer overweight. I have stalled for the last 2 months on the scales however I’m losing inches. Am realistic they I need to tighten up the diet and move more ( and drink less) to get the scales moving again. Could you be the same?

Definitely try cutting out alcohol. Your body physically cannot break down fat while alcohol is in your system (it down regulates metabolic processes to deal with the toxin first) so every time you drink alcohol you’re pausing any loss of body fat. For up to 36 hours after you stop drinking!

amigafan2003 · 17/01/2026 15:28

So that's 23% lost - so yeah - right in the window where weight loss stalls.

Another st would be 35% in total - that's a very high for weight loss jabs and possibly unattainable.

I would say you are in the maintenance phase now and yes, food noise will return so this is when you need to get very strict with diet and unfortunately willpower again becomes the main factor in maintaining your new weight,

This is nonsense, it’s shows you’ve no idea how the drugs work and have made some assumptions based on average weight loss in trials.

op, plenty of people, and anecdotally most, have lost way more than this, look at any of thousands of real life users. Plateau is you’re consuming too much and haven’t moved your cals down.

diet fatigue sets in, and you start to see tn4 real impact of the drug, the excitement wears off and it works differently for everyone; for you it likely was never that strong.

Absolutely, if anything trials have shown the longer the needle the less effective as it goes deeper and is harder for the body to break down, and of course no drug is stronger at a lower dose.

tobee · 19/01/2026 18:15

Yes psychosomatic maybe @ShawnaMacallister . But if it's currently working for pp what's the problem?

The problem is that she's posting things that aren't true and can't be true as if they are true. So it gets challenged, that's how misinformation works.

I think it’d working for her, but she is giving misinformation, which could lead to people thinking it’s stronger if you use an insulin needle or stronger at lower doses. Sure you’d think people will think critically and realise that’s not possible, but some people might drop doses and start injecting with insulin needles thinking it’s true.

You mean like celebrities? They aren't fat to start with!

No, regular school mums.

Flowers999 · 22/01/2026 23:29

I've found it very effective lost 7 stone sinve Jan 25 on 10mg at the moment. You probably just need to go up a dose.

Lol...my start weight was 17 stone and now 10 stone so I've lodt 41% of my body weight or 98lbs...in exactly 12 months so your comments are not correct!

Have a wee read of the mounjarouk reddit thread LOADS of people on there far far exceed yoyr suggested figures.

Maybe they didn't have an obesity problem in the first place?

These comments are making me laugh 🤣. I defo had a problem I was a size 18 12 months ago! I'm now a size 10 and at 5ft 6 I look really slim verging on a size 8 soon.

Did it come off really quickly? I have only lost 2.5 stone since November on 5mg now

Hey, I'd lost most within 9 months I'd say x

tobee · 24/01/2026 03:21

Yes you're right @ShawnaMacallister and @Daisywhatsyouranswer . I was just, short sightedly, thinking of how it applies to her. Sorry.

Wallywobbles · 24/01/2026 03:48

I think you are probably being a bit unrealistic. And it doesn’t sound like you have really overhaul the issues that might have led to weight gain in the first place.

ive been on it for 17 months. My BMI is just over 30. I’ve lost 1kg in the last 4 months I think. But that’s ok. I’m way healthier and fitter. I look ok and I feel good. Obviously I’m still fat.
But at 29% body weight lost it’s now about making good choices every day not really about the injections. If I ate any shit or drank alcohol again I’d put on weight again. And want more shit.
Unfortunately this is your life now - good, low sugar, low carb, high protein, good fats and loads of veg choices or you put on weight again

Yeah me too. 6st 40% loss in almost exactly a year. Was a tight size 20, now a loose size 10. Maintaining steady for a year at bmi 20 at 5'8" and age 59. Defined muscles, lean, not 'frail' or super skinny but definitely slim.

Only? I lost that in 5 months. Faster isn’t necessarily better when it comes to weight loss. We have to consider our gallbladder and hair, and also what is sustainable for us individually.

willowsmum81 · 24/01/2026 18:51

I had a similar bmi. I lovvveed 12.5mg. Really had to use willpower for 10mg so it was my latest favourite dose. I’ve listed the length of time on each dose.

2.5mg x 7
5mg x 4
7.5mg x 6
10mg x 9
12.5mg x 24
Reduced down to 7.5mg for 15 weeks and counting (24/1/26)

narcASD · 24/01/2026 18:54

@KrankyKumquat amazing! Have you maintained by using the jabs or just lifestyle changes? 6st is what I needed to lose, lost 3st since beginning of October so another 3 to go!

maddiemookins16mum · 24/01/2026 19:07

Yep me. I started at the end of May 2025 and I was 13 stone 12. I’m now 10 stone 7 and last took a jab on Wednesday night (a 10mg). I look so much better and my bmi is now 25.6 (it was 33). However, it has taken 4 months to get from 11 stone 12 to 10 stone 7 (1.5 stone) whereas it took 3 months to lose the first two stone. Plus I’m hungry, a lot. It’s almost like it’s not working anymore. I calculate everything, eat 1400 calories a day and some days I am literally starving myself to try and kick start the loss again.

I am due to start a 12.5 mg pen this coming week and have decided that if by the end of Feb I’m nowhere near 10 stone I’m stopping. Our mortgage is due to renew this summer, I can’t risk £300 a month as WLI showing on my bank statements.

Thank you. Yes I titrated down from 10mg, about 1mg a month, until I settled on 1.25mg. Massive lifestyle changes as well - diet and exercise - but decided to stay on a low dose long term to prevent ageing- related conditions hopefully.

I’m the same. Started end of May, lost the first couple of stones very quickly, the third was slow, and the fourth has been painfully slow. I think those that think “only 2.5 stones since November” is slow might be in for a shock. I’m on 10mg, going up to 12.5 next week. Ive got two 12.5 pens and a 15. I’m hoping I’ll be down another stone or two by the end of that, but then I’m coming off them. I find they don’t work great on me, I’m never full, I can eat as much as I want of anything without side effects, and I still have a fair bit of food noise. I’ve had to use a lot of willpower and make good choices (which is hopefully a good thing when I stop). I have another 2.5 stones to go. I’m a size 16 (from a 20) and look ok. If I can get to a size 12 I’d be estatic, I’m not too bothered what my bmi or weight is.

Kazzaa46 · 25/01/2026 13:27

Things I’ve found so far that make MJ more effective:
Exercising- the weeks I regularly exercise my suppression is always much better
Protein- I know everyone bangs on about it but if I eat more protein I am more suppressed
Jabbing on day 6 instead of day 7 for a week or two has given me suppression back

What I have found makes MJ less effective:
Eating chocolate or sweet stuff- I end up getting cravings for a day or two after
The week before my period- always ravenous, not much I can do about that 😆
