I need advice

I started Mounjaro on 1st August, and I weighed 15 and a half stone. I was really determined to lose weight as quickly as possible and so I went on a VLCD as well, at 800 calories a day. As you’d expect, I lost weight rapidly and now weigh just over 11 and a half stone.

I am short so still have another stone and a half to go for a healthy BMI, although being totally honest I’m not really fussed about an extra half stone. So I’d like to lose around another stone.

However, money is really, really tight and I have to be honest with myself and admit I can’t do both the VLCD and Mounjaro. I think I want to stick with Mounjaro as realistically I can’t stick to the diet without Mounjaro anyway. But it does mean in the new year I’ve kind of got to rethink my eating.

I need some help with a diet. Suggestions of what to eat, I’m OK with fairly slow weight loss but would like it to be steady, maybe a pound or so a week?

There are some foods I just don’t like, mostly veg and salad to be honest! I like some but not many!

Help!

It wasn’t wrong, so shall we go and find threads where the OP is ten stone overweight and explain to them how obese they are and that their life is at risk? I’m sure they aren’t actually aware, even if they start the thread something like I’m ten stone overweight and I’m terrified I’m going to die?

Let’s do that, so helpful and profound isn’t it?

No-one did this at all.

Guys, I know I’m a fat twat. FGS can we stop going on about it!?

I actually felt good when I got from obese to overweight 😂 good thing mn is here to remind you you’re still fat, right?

You're being so weirdly over sensitive. We were all fat twats on this board, nobody is 'better' than anyone else, we all need medication to lose weight, we are as equal as we can be! Why are you so sensitive?

On reflection I don't think OP will read this as she's hidden the thread. But going on WLI and an expensive VLCD is NOT the way to lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way and suggests very disordered thinking about food. The reason she's reacted so sensitively is probably to do with that.

Absolutely no one has said anything that comes close to calling you a fat twat.

Your responses are making you look like a bit of a twat though, so well done.

I agree, could be low blood sugar, that can cause anxiety and many other symptoms. hopefully op will ditch the meal replacements for some healthy food options.

In fact reading back I think OP misread my post talking about 11.5st being overweight for myself, what I didn't mention is that I was obese at the start. Op wrote "and the one telling me in great detail just how overweight I am while she would never sink to such levels of gluttony then?" Which I didn't think was about me but she must have meant me. At no point did I indicate I would never sink to such levels of gluttony..so much misreading and misinterpretation going on here. We are all on WLI and been obese/overweight with health conditions, some with serious heath conditions like myself. In fact I've had to lose 4st just to get to a normal bmi for my ethnicity. There was no criticism or judgement here.

loveyoulotslike · 20/12/2025 10:38

I’m a similar height and weight to you OP and I’m on mounjaro. I’ve lost 3 stone so far (over around 6 months). I’ve done VLCD (Cambridge/121 diet) in the past and although you get great losses, it’s not really sustainable in the long term and inevitably the weight does creep back on (I’m living proof of that!). Now you’re so close to goal, it’ll be good for you to find an eating plan that’s sustainable in the long term.

On Mounjaro, I’m losing slowly and steadily by eating up to 1200 calories a day and focusing on protein. For breakfast, I eat either scrambled eggs or porridge (with some cream - love porridge with cream!). Lunch will usually be something like a tin of tuna on sourdough and then dinner is things like chicken breast (cooked in air fryer with Nando’s rub) and baby potatoes with veg or salad. Or I might do a bolognaise and have it over wholegrain rice. I top up my protein with collagen powder too (mixed in coffee or a cold drink).

I lose (on average) 1.3lbs a week and I’m rarely hungry. My hope is that when I get to goal, I’ll be able to increase my daily calories to around 1600 and maintain from there. My eating this way, I’m definitely learning how to structure my meals around protein. I always used to structure them around empty carbs
(Pasta, potatoes etc) and then wondered why I was always hungry! So my advice would be to get off the meal replacements as soon as you can and move onto real food, gradually increasing your calories. You’ll probably gain a little bit at first after being on 800 cals but your body will soon recalibrate.

Well done on your losses so far. Bet you feel great.

Charlenedickens · 20/12/2025 10:45

Op, I am not sure what happened here, or why you’re lashing out and accusing people of what was never said.

I hope you find some peace and whatever is deeply wrong is sorted, but it is not the people on this threads fault, whatever it is. No one called you a fat twat or talked about your gluttony, everyone here is on weight loss injections.

id consider how low your cals are and Are you behaving like this in real life. Upset, lashing out, attacking people for no reason, seeing things that are not there, If so this maybe gives you another reason to stop with the vlcd and move to eating in a more gentle calorie defecit. Alternatively it could be other stuff going on, but giving our body adequate nutrition is vitally important.

loveyoulotslike · 20/12/2025 10:48

Oh I’ve just spotted the OP has left the thread. That’s a shame as I think there’s been some genuinely good advice here.

Ignore it you didn't say anything wrong at all. OP is spinning out for no reason

I would stick with mj OP and ditch the meal replacement, the mj should help you make healthy choices anyway. People say they go off carby sugary food on it and it helps them stick to low calories.
This will make it easier to prepare for maintenance

This.

direct the meal replacements to save money, stay with MJ whilst you teach yourself better eating habits. Use AI to meal plan like a Pp advised.
or if you need structure and ticking things off a list then even TeamRH would be better than a meal plan - that prioritises steps, protein, fibre and real food.

It reads like how you intended it ans was quite clear you were in no way calling the op a gluttonous fat twat.

northernlight20 · 20/12/2025 11:48

how strange op, such a massive overreaction on your part.

thebestpartyever · 20/12/2025 13:29

I definitely didn’t start the thread with the intention of causing offence or lashing out so big apologies for that.

I will be honest and say I realise there was no ill intent but I just did find the ‘well 11 stone at 5’3 is still overweight’ upsetting. I’m sorry if that annoys people - I’m not trying to do that at all! It reminded me of when I joined a gym at about 24, weighed a hefty 10 stone 4lbs so was a whole 4lbs overweight and the instructor made me feel like a farm animal!

My first and most immediate priority was to lose the weight. It isn’t sustainable in the long term but then it isn’t supposed to be: I can’t afford Mounjaro indefinitely so my first priority was / is losing weight and then look into maintenance. At the moment though, I still have to lose about a stone and a half so I need to work out how to best do that. If you don’t mind (and I’m not being rude, I promise!) I don’t need people telling me my way is ‘wrong’; we get enough of that from people who are anti-WLIs full stop. It maybe wrong for you but it is right for me, however affordability means I can’t carry on!

This is one of those questions that Chat GPT is actually good at answering.

Be specific, something like this, but edit for your own needs.

Im currently on Mounjaro and have lost four stone. I was using low calorie meal replacements, but need to move back into real foods.

Give me a list of low calorie, high protein options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The foods also need to be budget friendly. I don’t have time to cook breakfast, I want packed lunch options for work. Dinner can be cooked at home, but meals that the whole family would enjoy to save cooking two meals. Also, include a list of cheap, easy and filling snacks.

Put that in, see what you get and ask further questions from there that fit your tastes.

Well done on the weightloss.

Darknightsandsparklylights · 20/12/2025 17:03

I find traybakes quick to do, you can put most veg in and they taste good, maybe a little bit of sweet potato (I think less carbs and more protein than normal potato. Courgette, carrot , red onion wedges, few nuts or seeds at the end. Chicken or salmon in among it, flavour with herbs spices maybe some balsamic vinegar. You can spray a little veg oil on to stop using too much if you pour oil . Silicon baking mat stops it sticking to pan. Sometimes I put natural yoghurt or skyr on at the end to make a bit of a sauce. Hooe you find recipes that work for you

I’m glad you returned OP. Most people on the WLI boards are really supportive and most of us at some point have had people make us feel awful or ridiculous because we carry extra weight. I do think everyone’s been supportive here.

In terms of sustainable weight loss, it might help to think about what foods you enjoy and pick an eating plan based around that. For me, I like a lot of chicken, fish, seafood etc so calorie and protein counting works best for me. Other people are going to prefer Mediterranean or Keto or intermittent fasting. Find something that you think ‘I could probably do that’ and that combined with MJ will probably be reasonably easy. I’m having ‘breakfast’ for dinner tonight and it’s one of my favourite WLI meals - sausages, eggs and a small tin of beans.
