I need advice

thebestpartyever · 19/12/2025 21:28

I started Mounjaro on 1st August, and I weighed 15 and a half stone. I was really determined to lose weight as quickly as possible and so I went on a VLCD as well, at 800 calories a day. As you’d expect, I lost weight rapidly and now weigh just over 11 and a half stone.

I am short so still have another stone and a half to go for a healthy BMI, although being totally honest I’m not really fussed about an extra half stone. So I’d like to lose around another stone.

However, money is really, really tight and I have to be honest with myself and admit I can’t do both the VLCD and Mounjaro. I think I want to stick with Mounjaro as realistically I can’t stick to the diet without Mounjaro anyway. But it does mean in the new year I’ve kind of got to rethink my eating.

I need some help with a diet. Suggestions of what to eat, I’m OK with fairly slow weight loss but would like it to be steady, maybe a pound or so a week?

There are some foods I just don’t like, mostly veg and salad to be honest! I like some but not many!

Help!

I would stick with mj OP and ditch the meal replacement, the mj should help you make healthy choices anyway. People say they go off carby sugary food on it and it helps them stick to low calories.
This will make it easier to prepare for maintenance

BlondeBonBon · 20/12/2025 07:27

You need to eat protein and weight lift to protect your bones. Calcium and vitamin D.

Greek Yogurt and fruit
Eggs with veg is my go to for breakfast
chickpea or prawn curry
roast dinner
fish and a few chips with a mound of salad
jacket potato, beans, cheese, salad

Well done your weightloss. I’m also on Mounjaro but I’ve been losing weight more slowly, I’m eating between 12-1500 calories a day and have lost about 6lb per month. I’m eating healthily and smaller portions and still drink alcohol and eat out. I definitely think it’s possible for you to lose the rest without the expense of the low calorie diet.
I eat porridge and fruit for breakfast and otherwise I eat a lot of stir fries, soups and salads with tuna or chicken. Not too many carbs. No puddings, I have wine instead as my treat.
If you focus on healthy eating and keep taking mounjaro you can definitely do it. Good luck.

@Mysticmaiden i do know you were replying to someone else but there’s no need for it anyway. I know I’m overweight; that’s why I’m posting. This board is usually quite supportive but this thread has felt a bit more like AIBU and if I have any more posts that are ‘I’m confused’ I’m just going to hide the thread and move on. Your post was quite upsetting to read, actually.

I don’t feel a need to stop with them ‘immediately’ as they’ve worked really well. It’s just money. I have enough until the end of January but want to start planning to reintroduce ‘proper’ food after that. So was looking to see what other people were doing when on the injections.

Thanks @jan2310 ; that’s definitely the sort of post I anticipated!

What food did you used to like @thebestpartyever?
For example, this morning breakfast has been bacon, poached egg and avocado on a small slice of sourdough bread. It’s just over 400 calories and will fill me up until early afternoon when I’ll grab an apple and a banana for another 200 cals (ish)
That leaves me 600 cals for dinner which is plenty for chicken, veg, a small amount of rice/pasta/potato etc and a glass of wine!
My goal is 1200 cals a day, often I’m slightly over but still losing weight I’m happy to carry on.
Try to find foods you like that are low calorie that you can eat in volume to fill up your plate - a lot of veggies are great for this. Kick most sweet stuff to the kerb (hopefully the MJ helps with this) and decide what you won’t give up, then work out how to fit it into your week in a way that works for you

thebestpartyever · 20/12/2025 08:49

So yes, I’d like most of things. Thank you ☺️

Are you reading a different thread @thebestpartyever because people on this thread have been nothing but helpful and supportive so if you are somehow reading offence and insult then your perception is off. Anyway you asked for advice, you got advice, take it how you like.

oneangrydwarfand200solemnfaces · 20/12/2025 09:00

Well done on your loss OP. It will be life changing. I can understand that desperation to get the weight off quickly when you made that decision - and throwing everything at it at the same time. Perhaps not the ‘healthiest’ way to lose the weight and you have heard too many opinions already , but then again arguably it’s healthier than still being obese!

The key thing is now making sure you don’t bounce back and finding a path to long term sustainability. I haven’t done the same but have lost 4stone on Mj this year and used a daily protein shake instead of breakfast and usually only have one proper meal and snacks for the other (nuts, yogurts and berries and my go to now) .
It’s great you can afford to continue one of your solutions, and if you continue MJ you can start 2026 working out what foods you like that will fuel you, loads of great suggestions on here already. you can build this into a normal lifestyle in a way I imagine the meal replacements can’t be. It doesn’t have to be very complicated, just the same advice that’s all over these threads. Protein first and a range of nutrients.

LadyClumber · 20/12/2025 09:03

Congratulations on your weight loss! Have a look at the Nutracheck app. I use it to track calories and protein but also for meal planning - especially in the early days when I had to retrain how I eat. There are links on the app to over 1000 lower calorie, healthy recipes from Good Food as well as Nutracheck’s own recipes which can be eaten as family meals - so no separate shopping/ buying! As others have suggested above, best to focus on lean protein and veg as well as drinking lots of water throughout the day.

oneangrydwarfand200solemnfaces · 20/12/2025 09:05

I also think you are hearing offence where none was meant in other posts. If you read just your OP and not the updates it is quite confusing as a VLCD is usually just exactly what it stands for with normal food. You meant using meal replacements but that only became clear in your updates (which I did read before posting so understood). Don’t focus on that anyway - just read the good advice about ways of eating that work on MJ there are loads of whole other threads on them.

This was my post..I think you have me confused with someone else, why would my post upset you and at what point did I say to stop??

Mysticmaiden · Today 05:05

I'm 5ft 3, I'm now 9st 0.5lbs bmi 22.7 11.5 stones was definitely overweight for me. I was bmi 25 at 10 stones and for myself had to get to bmi 23 to be classed as normal due to ethnicity, anyone except Caucasian is classed as overweight at bmi 25.
I've done it slowly but have generally had to eat 850-1000 cals to lose 1lbs a week. I have switched to wegovy a month ago and my losses are quicker, lost 1.6lbs this week with eating 850-1100 a day, 3lbs in 4 weeks on it. I don't exercise at all, have an office job and drive everywhere.
I mainly eat chicken or fish and veg with protein shake for breakfast and nuts and high protein yoghurt as a snack.
Wegovy gives me stronger suppression and satiety. Can you Switch over or reduce your mj dose to save money? Slower losses are better for maintaining muscle and avoiding loose skin.

Charlenedickens · 20/12/2025 09:25

Op I’ve read all the responsss again and I cannot for the life of me see what’s causing you to be Upset?

thebestpartyever · 20/12/2025 09:35

You missed the endless gee, I’m so very confused posts and the one telling me in great detail just how overweight I am while she would never sink to such levels of gluttony then?

That wasn't me, yet you copied me in, you didn't target a single other person. I can't see a post that is offensive, the only one that tells you to stop is about VLCD not mounjaro and that wasn't me

thebestpartyever · 20/12/2025 09:43

@Mysticmaiden i start this post saying what I weigh and clearly saying that I need to lose at least another stone and a half to get to a healthy bmi so I honestly don’t know why you felt the need to write an entire paragraph explaining you’re the same height as me and how very awfully overweight you were at the same weight as me. I know I’m overweight. It your post did really upset me actually, as I’ve lost a lot already and was dating to feel quite good about myself. Anyway. Only you know the motivation for that.

Because a person above said 5ft 3 and 11.5 stones is normal weight but it isn't its overweight, that's a fact, I didn't say its awfully overweight, i said its definitely overweight which it is. I don't know why you are taking offense over a fact. You clearly have some internal battles going on that you need to deal with as you are so upset by everyone's responses when people are giving advice as most of us have been where you are. It might be good to work on self love and self respect regardless of the size you are so you aren't triggered by someone mentioning a specific weight is overweight.

thebestpartyever · 20/12/2025 09:52

And - I’m not offended by the ‘I’m so confused’ posts but they do get really tedious, especially when you clarify quite soon and people just keep coming back to declare their bewilderment. But the thread was starting to e helpful so that’s good. I don’t think I said anything too contentious, just that I wasn’t going to keep answering the same question and that I am well aware I’m overweight; other posters don’t need to explain this to me!

@Mysticmaiden I really did not see anything at all offensive in your post or in any other post on here. Im 5ft 1 and at 10 stone 4 I am still in the overweight category. I started out at 12 stone 1 which put me in the obese category, you were not wrong in what you stated at all.

thebestpartyever · 20/12/2025 09:56

Guys, I know I’m a fat twat. FGS can we stop going on about it!?

I actually felt good when I got from obese to overweight 😂 good thing mn is here to remind you you’re still fat, right?

I didn't mention you at all, I was neutral and in fact talking about myself stating about myself being 5ft 3 and saying 11.5 is definitely overweight. You picked up on the weight being overweight and got upset. There was no targeting of you, so again focus inwards and look into why you are so upset over a fact.

It wasn’t wrong, so shall we go and find threads where the OP is ten stone overweight and explain to them how obese they are and that their life is at risk? I’m sure they aren’t actually aware, even if they start the thread something like I’m ten stone overweight and I’m terrified I’m going to die?

Let’s do that, so helpful and profound isn’t it?

Thank you for your support. Glad to know I'm not missing something here. ❤️ I was over 13st when I started, prediabetic, high cholesterol and high blood pressure at a size 14-16. Thank god for these WLI, changed my life x

No OK, that’s fine then. I’ll leave you to talk about BMI. Thread hidden.
