Welcome fellow maintainers to our third thread! Tis the season to be joyful and we do have reasons to be joyful, as we are still here. Not always the perfect journey and full of treats and temptations, but we'd have nothing to talk about otherwise. So hop on the Magical Maintenance Sleigh of Wonder and lets go! (Apologies to all those reading this for the first time in March! I got a bit carried away my festive season puns.)

Finally! Down from 8 stone 12 after holiday, last week 8 stone 10.5, this week 8 stone 9..slow progress to get back to 8 stone 5..4 pounds to go.

FurForksSake · 27/02/2026 10:32

Well done! Slow and steady and in the right direction ticks all the boxes!

its jab day but I’m not weighing, I got weighed at the hospital yesterday (got diagnosed with fibromyalgia and hyper mobility spectrum disorder) and it was 54kg fully clothed, with shoes and mid afternoon. I don’t know and am not translating that to stones and pounds. I’m sooooo constipated because I’ve been taking cocodamol so this weekend I’ll be lactulosing myself and once things are moving I’ll weigh. See what the damage is from last week and my total lack of any exercise.

I’m on annual leave all week next week and I’m looking forward to gardening, pottery and if the weather is nice a daily walk. Get back out and be gentle with myself.

I have an ultrasound privately for gynae stuff and they haven’t booked me in until April as they are overrun! I’ll be fascinated to see the images with out being obese! Never had one at a normal weight.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/02/2026 11:27

Lost a lb so back in my ballpark thankfully but want to lose another 2

ShrankLastWinter · 27/02/2026 11:34

Suddenly I’m in the light part of my month and weighing in at 69.85kg, down from over 71kg the day before yesterday.

Does anyone else have a big variation like this? It’s getting to me - I find it difficult to eat my maintenance calories when I’m in the higher phases of the month.

I’ll see how low this month’s low is, I guess.

20bloodypounds · 27/02/2026 16:07

@FurForksSake what is the point in weighing you with your shoes on etc??

FurForksSake · 27/02/2026 16:29

@20bloodypounds I know, she made me take them off for my height, so she knew 🤣 And I was wearing multiple layers and heavy fabric trousers. I mean they didn’t mention my weight, not sure rheumatologist cared about that at all 🤣

I absolutely get this. Varies by 2-3kg - and no obvious reason (I’m post menopausal, not constipation ) ! Drives me bonkers!

OneThirdLess · 27/02/2026 20:56

@ShrankLastWinter I can vary by 1-2 kg in a day, easily. I tend to be heaviest in the evening (makes sense, I'm full of food & drink) then lightest in the morning (after visiting the bathroom). No constipation and never been one to gain hormonal weight at certain times of the month.

I was away last weekend and despite not really eating to excess gained half a stone. In 2 days! Was horrified when I saw the scales as I've busted right through the top weight of my happy range. Over the week, 3lbs have come back off but the rest (as always) is likely to be stubborn and will take effort.

Thanks for the replies! I’m glad I’m not alone, @Fluffypiece, though sorry you’re also having to figure this out.

I only do naked morning weigh-in, so this isn’t variation across the day. And it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with what I eat day to day. It’s partly menstrual cycle, as my weight drops when my period starts, but also affected by gym and travel. Just crazy water retention, I guess.

But it makes it a bit difficult psychologically. I’m still slowly losing and I think that’s because I can’t quite make myself stop trying to get the scales to come down when they randomly whoosh up, even though rationally I know it’s not fat.

I’m so scared of myself, of over-eating and regaining. I actually have nightmares about Danish pastries, which at least is quite funny.

OneThirdLess · 27/02/2026 23:42

I do think this is one of the challenges of maintenance, @ShrankLastWinter. We've got so used to chasing the number downwards that any movement up, for whatever reason, is scary. It's not rational - we know it's not, but getting out of that headspace is difficult. Would it help for you to avoid the scales for a month or two?

Placestogo · 28/02/2026 07:32

I see the maintaining period as a brain rewiring period.
i have some support with WLI but it is resuced and i have to confront 50years of habits and rewire them so they are healthier… that include not panicking about numbers on the scale!!

relating to that - any podcast or links to “reverse dieting” i think this is what i am trying to do intuitively so i am interested in reading about it. Or if you have experience please share! Tia

made me lol - b movie chase scenes!

yes I’m the same. Naked weigh in post poo / pre water etc. I’m getting over it by weighing every day. Even though I dread it if I think I’m going to be heavier. But I’m trying to deal with this mental part of ‘yesterday I was 2 kg lighter, today it says this and tomorrow it will be back down …. ‘ and noticing how I can choose whether or not this is going to affect how I think of myself for that day …. This is a work in progress of course! I’m not going to take action unless my average for the week is up ……

ShrankLastWinter · 28/02/2026 07:38

Thank you everyone. It really helps having people in the same place to talk to.

Hangryfastjo · 01/03/2026 08:45

Morning all, I've just taken my very last MJ jab (that I have in stock). Haven't bought since August, my window for buying is May from a previous supplier, so it gives me a chance to see if I'll manage it.
Done a year, lost over 4 stone.
My weight is 9 st 12lb, but my weight window is up to 10st 2lb, which is messing with my head, so by end of march I'd like to be 9st 10lb, which gives me leeway before hitting 10st.
I'm quite excited now to come off it and after lots of anxiety about it before and over Christmas, I'm now ready. Talking to chatgpt and this thread has been really helpful.
Although I've just messed up ladt jab, the needle bent, so its just injected the MJ just below the skin and left a little lump, which im sure will eventually absorb, FFS!

Orangesandlemons77 · 01/03/2026 21:06

I have made it to BMI 25 today which means I've lost around a stone since the summer and six stone overall.

Still got three 10mg MJ pens and a single 1mg wegovy which I will use in the following year three months each and go from there.

FurForksSake · 01/03/2026 21:11

@Orangesandlemons77 well done. That’s a fabulous achievement.

Itscoldouthere · 02/03/2026 10:07

Having been maintaining (well I’ve gained 3kg over the last 6 months) on 5mg I have been really unwell after taking my last jab. I was really very unwell, vomited all night, couldn’t even keep water down.
I spent the weekend on the sofa, I did manage to eat a bit yesterday evening and it’s stayed down, but have still gastro bubbly tummy.
Its so weird when these things happen, I can’t work out anything I did differently, it was a new pen but same strength, previously when I’ve had anything similar it was in the weight loss phase and I felt it was because it had become too strong, so I moved down, but I’d been slowly gaining weight, so had been wondering if I needed to go back up for a few months.
I won’t go up now, think I will just be really careful for the next few weeks, being unwell like that is really horrible and a reminder that this is strong medication.

FurForksSake · 02/03/2026 10:16

@Itscoldouthere could it not have been a bug?

MargoLivebetter · 02/03/2026 12:40

Morning all, I've been a bit quiet as I've been hit by such a heavy cold. It isn't the flu, but it is one of the heaviest colds I have had in ages. Have felt disgusting. I'm currently 1lb over my zone of tolerance but I'm hoping once I'm better and get moving again, that this will shift.

I hope you are feeling better too @Itscoldouthere .

Congratulations @Orangesandlemons77 that is very good news.

Hope you feel better soon @MargoLivebetter. Last time I had a stinker of a cold it was Covid (only knew as had a test still kicking about and DH got me to check). Hope yours isn't!

I've managed to get just back into my weight window (by 0.1kg). Would prefer to be in the middle of it, but haven't been able to keep off the chocolate the last couple of days. Feel like a right piggy. I yearn for the golden Mounjaro days when I just didn't care about it. Now it sings a siren song and is so damn addictive. 🍫🍫🍫

Yes - it’s due to a number of things including carb intake. If I have a big meal I can be 2kg up in one day. But then lose it just as fast

MargoLivebetter · 02/03/2026 15:14

Thank you @OneThirdLess definitely not Covid - I checked. Just an old school snot fest!

Yes, the food noise is really, really annoying. Well done for staying in your weight window.

OP posts:
Itscoldouthere · 02/03/2026 17:50

@FurForksSake yes it could be a bug, but has felt very similar to a couple of other times which were MJ related.

The plus point is I’ve lost some weight and I’m not feeling up to eating much, so will hopefully help to reset me back to steady maintaining again instead of the creeping gain I’ve had since October.

It certainly makes me thankful that I’m pretty health and not often ill, being ill sucks, one of my sisters has had a whole series of illnesses over the last 10 years and it’s had such an impact on her life and enjoyment, we have to be very thankful of good health.
