Hey. I'm a scared newbie and I would love a handhold and advice
I'm 51, pre diabetic, have PCOS, on hrt with knee pain. I'm 13 stone overweight, have been deep in denial for decades ....
Any advice of where to buy monjaro? doctor says they'd only prescribe it if I am actually diabetic so decided to buy it before I actually am
scared shitless to be honest

Get yourself a brew, and read through the threads here. It's a really supportive place.

You won't regret taking the plunge - trust me.

There are also threads for November starters, it can be helpful to join in with people who are at a similar stage to you in terms of how long you've been taking the medication.

Have a look at the price comparison website https://monj.co.uk for a list of regulated UK online suppliers. I have used Asda, Zava, Pharmacy2U, WePrescribe, and Swift with no issues, I have only changed pharmacy due to costs and looking to get a good deal.

Please don't be scared. It's the best thing I've ever done for my health. I started in July 2024 at 22 stone and I am now 11st 8lbs. I had a few side effect issues in the first 3 months, but things that I could deal with, and after that I haven't had any issues at all. Just consistent weight loss.

I get mine from Asda, they’re fairly cheap and easy to do click & collect (which I prefer rather than it being posted and potentially missing it, it being sat getting warm in a delivery office etc) I’ve lost 3 stone in 6 months (only have 3.5 to lose overall) it’s really not that scary. I barely had any side effects, like most people. Just a bit of tiredness sometimes. It’s so easy! The weight just falls off. If you have 13 stone to lose you will feel like a completely different person after losing even half of that, even after losing 3 stone I have so much more energy (when the MJ doesn’t make me feel tired, which is only occasionally), so much more comfortable in my body (physically and mentally), so much more confidence. I actually enjoy wearing clothes again. My knees and back hurt way less than they used to, my high cholesterol’s returned to normal. You won’t regret it, go for it!

Take it all one step at a time and just think it is less scary that remaining morbidly obese, it is a step towards better health.

Lots of information online (stick to credible sources and stay away from tiktok etc) and on here. The thread @SilenceInside linked to will keep you on the right track, lots of experience in there.

For HRT, if you take oral progesterone, speak to your HRT prescriber before starting Mounjaro (some information below) as you many need to change to another route or up your dose.

There’s really nothing to be scared of. You take the jab, probably in the tummy, drink loads of water, eat a chicken breast and some salad. Might have a dodgy stomach a couple of days later and feel lethargic, but you just carry on with your life. You learn to eat healthy, non processed foods and you start walking. Then your clothes start to feel looser and the number on the scale starts to drop. This is roughly the experience of most of my friends on Mounjaro. We felt apprehensive at first but then we started experiencing the benefits. Best of luck!

diggitydoo · 10/11/2025 15:09

thank you everyone. I'm so confused. Should I be thinking I'll be starting on 2.5 and staying on that for 6 months or so?

and how on earth to choose between all those different suppliers

OP posts:
WeAllHaveWings · 10/11/2025 15:23

If you advance search different suppliers on here you will see comments on them. Watch out for suppliers that are subscription services and make sure what you are signing up for.

As far as I can recall (but do your own advanced search to see for yourself) the more popular/mentioned ones on here are Pharmulous, Dr Swift, Oushk, Medicine Marketplace, ZAVA (I've probably missed a couple, I'm sure others will add in). Some people prefer highstreet/known names such as Boots, Lloyds, Asda (who use ZAVA), Superdrug but for online it doesn't really matter.

You start on 2.5mg for a minimum of 4 weeks. Then decide after your 3 injection if you want to move up or stay on 2.5mg - it should be your decision - just order the next pen in the dose you want. Some get the effects they want on 2.5mg and stay on it for months, others get no effects until they move to much higher doses. You need to try for yourself and see how you individually respond, but each dose increase is a minimum of 4 weeks (the new dose builds concentration each week in your body until it levels off after 4 weeks).

diggitydoo · 10/11/2025 16:04

so are the prices on that website the price per dose ? and you need a dose a week?

how much does this cost?

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 10/11/2025 16:09

@diggitydoo the thing to remember when choosing a supplier is that you can always change for the next order. Although, a few suppliers operate a subscription model where they automatically charge you for the next pen after 4 weeks unless you cancel. The Monj website will say if it’s a subscription or not.

The medication is the same wherever you get it from, so really I would be guided by price and TrustPilot etc reviews. You could start with a well known name like Asda if you were at all unsure. I am happy with Swift atm and also had no issues with Pharmacy2U in the past. I also get my NHS prescriptions via Pharmacy2U if that helps!

SilenceInside · 10/11/2025 16:10

The prices are per injection pen which contains 4 doses, so 4 weeks supply. You take one dose each week.

Start on 2.5mg and see how it goes. Make the decision after 2-3 weeks of seeing how it goes.

Thank you all!
just ordered . Eeek
