Staying on 2.5 for second month?

StrongLikeMamma · 03/11/2025 22:46

Would you stay on the 2.5 dose for your second month?

I have had good suppression and lost 3lbs a week. So, I’ve just taken jab 3 and have lost 6lbs in total.

Felt a bit crappy after first dose so am nervous to jump up if unnecessary…

Anyone else stayed on 2.5?

I’ve been on MJ for 7 months and 2.5mg throughout. I’ve lost almost 3st in that time. I have had good suppression and like the fact that there is still willpower needed so hopefully making it easier when I come off…. 🤞

I did two months on 2.5mg, a month on 3.75mg, and I'm just about to start my fifth month on 5mg. I'm not a fast loser, I've lost almost three stone, but I'm very happy with that.

pterodactylpinky · 03/11/2025 23:01

I have done a year on 2.5mg - just over 7 stone down

StrongLikeMamma · 03/11/2025 23:02

Great! Thanks all. That’s very reassuring ☺️

3 stone in 4 months is fast - well done!

StrongLikeMamma · 04/11/2025 07:46

Do you think you lost more slowly on the lower dose?

It was quite fast for me in the beginning but it’s about 0.5-1lb a week now which I’m much happier with. I didn’t like the high suppression in the early days and struggling to eat really isn’t for me.

I now have a healthy appetite and eat a good 1500-1600 calories a day.

Ineedanewsofa · 04/11/2025 08:47

I’ve done the same as @WinterOnItsWayOut so far 16 weeks in and 19kg down, 11kg to go.
I wanted stay on as low a dose as possible as my intention is to eventually come off it but there are also benefits to slower weight loss, it reduces the risk of pancreas and gallbladder issues, reduces the likelihood of loose skin and for me, allowed my brain to adapt to my smaller body.
The lower doses are also cheaper which is defo a consideration!

Hey lovely, well done on your journey. Stay on the 2.5 for as long as it works for you, no need to spend more money and go up unless you lose suppression altogether.

This is what I’m thinking - I also really like the idea of there being less of the drug in my system when it comes time to maintain without it.

Such incredible experiences on this board. Thanks everyone for sharing 💛

So those who have been on 2.5mg the whole time - did the high suppression go away the longer you are on it? I’m only on week 3 of 2.5mg but am definitely staying on it for my second batch as I have really high food suppression for the first 4-5 days.

I’m hoping that this will lessen as some days I struggle to eat enough but am happy to stay on 2.5 if it eventually does. I’m nervous to go up to 5mg in case I stop eating altogether!

Ineedanewsofa · 04/11/2025 10:40

@VioletandMauve yes, I hardly wanted any food the first few weeks but that settled into my normal hunger coming back(which freaked me out at first) but crucially, feeling full after about half of what I had been eating previously and that’s where it stayed. I average 1200-1300 calories a day, some days a little more, some a little less.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 04/11/2025 10:43

I've been on 2.5 since end of March and have lost 61lb. I still get suppression but not as much but feeling satisfied after eating still remains as does the not wanting to eat between meals.

I was on 2.5mg for 2 months. I moved up to 5mg because I felt suppression was wearing off but I have had a really rough time on 5mg so I am going back to 2.5mg. I feel I have got better habits now with being on WLI e.g I have cut out the constant snacking and large portions of food, so even if I feel a bit hungrier on 2.5mg it still helps. Stay on 2.5mg as long as you can is my advice.

Yes it definitely changes for me I could barely eat 800 calories in the beginning and now I eat 1500/1600 sometimes more every day. It’s been a year though so this has been gradual. I could easily eat much more so there is a level of self control needed

I did 3 months on 2.5mg before moving up. I found that the suppression wore off but quite slowly so I didn't really notice at first. I decided to go up as I was having to use more willpower than I liked to stop myself from eating mindlessly on days 5-7. I've only gone up to 3.75 for now as I wanted to make good use of my last 2.5mg pen but I may move up to 5mg when it's done.

Thank you - I just didn't want to keep to such few calories forever, so this is good to know.

Thanks, yes I think if the food suppression massively goes away that's when I'll move up to 5mg but until then, I'll stay on 2.5mg.

SusanSometimes · 04/11/2025 14:52

Just to clarify, I've lost three stone in seven months not four months - hence fairly slow!

Thanks for the congrats, though Grin

That’s still amazing!
I’m still losing 1lb each day on week three. I guess I would go up if it stalled for too long. But am very happy with losing 8lbs so far and would love to be able to keep my dose low 🤞🤞🤞

Ineedanewsofa · 05/11/2025 08:58

@StrongLikeMamma you will probably plateau at some point, the obvious solution is to up the dose however both my plateaus have come at the start of a new pen(!) so I didn’t move up straight away and actually by the third dose (which is usually my reorder pattern) I had started losing again. Lots of people do find they need the stronger doses but my advice would be not to panic order straight away if you hit a plateau 😊

A pound a day is dangerously fast. Please don’t go up doses when it slows. 1-2 a week is the loss you should be aiming for.
