Anyone not had any loss on MJ?

Floweryfrock23 · 27/10/2025 08:16

5 weeks, no loss.
Now on second week of increased dose to 5mgs.

Not a single pound gone. (Despite doing absolutely every single thing I can do to make it happen)

Anyone had this? Does it just not work for some people?

Are you feeling the effects? Less hungry and more satisfied when you do eat? If you are then you might need to change what you eat - perhaps your volume is correct but calorie density too high? Or worst case you’re a non responder. Keep going though. Some people don’t respond until the higher does

Floweryfrock23 · 27/10/2025 08:23

Thank you for your reply.

yes!
No Appetite , no food noise, don’t fancy anything at all.
Went out for brunch with friends and just had a black coffee, just couldn’t eat anything.

Tracking on MFP, food choices are nutritious to make what I do eat matter.
High fibre, mostly plant based, no UP foods, 1000 cals or less a day.

One of my friends lost for the first 3 weeks and then didn't lose anything for the next three, but that was on 2.5 which isn't even a therapeutic dose.

If you're eating fewer calories than you're using, you should lose weight. Are you sure you're not underestimating how much you're eating?

Floweryfrock23 · 27/10/2025 08:27

Well I scan into MFP so it adds the cals and the rest is fresh veg,

Assuming you are in fact obese then you absolutely must be losing fat in that calorie deficit. Be patient, bodies aren't always predictable but you'll see the loss soon.
have you been exercising more than usual?

Wildgoat · 27/10/2025 08:35

That’s not humanly possible op. You need to go see your doctor.

a calorie deficit means you need to burn fat or muscle to make up the defecit. As you’re not consuming enough cals to fuel yourself. When you burn fat or muscle, it is no longer there, this means your body weighs less.

in addition mounjaro reduces inflammation, meaning water weight goes. So if you’re only eating 1000 cals a day you should be losing about 3lbs a week. Tdee dependent.

so how are you fueling yourself, if it’s not food/drink consumed and it’s not fat or muscle, then what? As said it’s not humanly possible, so see your gp.

BMI 32
Menopausal with drastic weight gain no matter what I do and I’ve done everything over the last 10 years.
You name it, and over long periods of time too.

Lost 1 stone in the first month on 2.5mgs. That is the first significant weight loss in over 6 years, I was delighted.
Now nothing, not a thing.

I would double check that MFP matches what’s on the products that you are scanning in, in terms of calories and portion size. It’s user editable so the numbers are sometimes way out. But I don’t think that can be enough of an issue to make your calorie totals wildly off.

If you have been in a real calorie deficit for 5 weeks and not lost any weight at all, regardless of medication, then you definitely need to see a doctor as something is not right there.

GetOffTheRoof · 27/10/2025 08:44

OK, so what is your calorie intake per day? What is your BMR / TDEE?

So you have lost weight 🤦🏼‍♀️ you've lost a stone in 9 weeks. That's 1.5 lbs a week on average.
The first month loss would have been part fat, part water. Then you continued to lose fat but regained the water meaning the scales show no loss. Be patient, weight loss isn't linear.

IAmaFaithful25 · 27/10/2025 08:50

OP - if you listen to podcasts at all - check out Fat Science. I had hit a plateau and started listening to them and I have realised I was not eating enough. They advocate regular eating even if not hungry. I have started that, even small amounts and have started losing again, but the podcasts explain it all better.

This is a bit confusing. Your title asks about having no loss on MJ but here you're saying you lost 1st in the first 4 weeks.

You've also said you're only on the second dose of 5mg and haven't lost for 5 weeks. So, you lost 1st in the first 4 weeks, stayed at 2.5mg for another 4 weeks and lost nothing and have just gone up to 5mg? I'd give 5mg longer to build in your system in that case and be patient. You've actually had significant weight loss already, contrary to the way you made it sound in your title and first post.

xanthomelana · 27/10/2025 08:52

All the way through my journey I went for weeks without losing anything then suddenly I’d lose a lot in one go. I didn’t really start losing every week until I got up to 10 mg and it took me 18 months to lose 5 stone which is slow compared to some people but I learned to stop comparing myself with everyone else’s losses.

AgnesMcDoo · 27/10/2025 08:53

You have lost weight. A good amount of weight. One stone on 2.5mg and now it’s slowed down for one week.

5 weeks.

I think the OP’s been on Mounjaro for 4 weeks on 2.5mg, 4 weeks on 5mg and now into the second week of another 5mg pen. Lost a stone in the first 4 or 5 weeks and then nothing since then. Is that right @Floweryfrock23?

VioletandMauve · 27/10/2025 10:47

Hmm. Your OP is very misleading and a bit alarmist for people who may be thinking about starting the jabs as you did lose weight on Mounjaro initially. Ok so it’s now slowed down (or temporarily stopped) but you did lose a stone.

Floweryfrock23 · 27/10/2025 10:59

The 2.5 was so effective in the first month & the cost hike meant that I thought I would do another month of 2.5. Nothing shifted so naturally I went up to 5mg.

My ask is has anyone else had a halt or slowing of loss. It is not alarmist, it is balanced, not everyone gets on with every medication. We can’t just discuss how wonderful something is all the time. For me, I’ve hit a road block. I’m asking if anyone else has experienced this.

1stone in the 1st 4 weeks is a lot! Your body may just be adjusting. Stick with it. I'd suggest trying to eat more that 1000kcal a day though. I upped from 1200 to 1400 and am still losing at the same rate

SilenceInside · 27/10/2025 11:04

Yes, many people on a long term weight loss journey will experience a point in time where their weight loss slows or plateaus. It’s worth checking your TDEE now you have lost a stone to see if you need to readjust your calorie deficit. Then see if you can increase your physical activity as well. Some people find that shaking up their diet by doing things like a short period of OMAD or IF can help.

Peridot1 · 27/10/2025 11:08

Some people don’t see much loss until on the higher doses. It’s a pain when some people lose consistently even in low doses. But it does happen.

Make sure you are eating enough protein. And drinking lots of water.

TDEE should be 1500 cals a day. That won’t work for me as I know (from 10 years worth of weight issues) that anything over 1000 leads to rapid and out of control weight gain.

I already do IF. Have done this on and off for years. (long periods of time too)

I don’t see the point of going to the Dr, they will of course dismiss me as being just a fat person who eats too much. Where can they send me? What can they do with me? There’s nothing at all available to me. I’m not unwell, I’ve no chronic conditions, (yet).

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 27/10/2025 11:29

Perhaps people are wondering about thyroid issues, in relation to the GP?

If your TDEE is 1500 calories, then 1000 calories is about right as a 500 calorie deficit.
