If you’ve switched from Mounjaro to Wegovy, how’s it going?

I’m on my first week of Wegovy having been on Mounjaro for most of this year. I was on 12.5 Mounjaro dose and started Wegovy at 1.7.

It’s not terrible but it’s not going great. No issues with side effects at all, which is a relief, but so far I have definitely wanted more food. I’d be surprised if I don’t gain this week. Maybe it’ll be improved when I go up to the 2.4 dose.

How have others found the switch?

I'm currently between finishing the last dose of Mounjaro I had, and starting with Wegovy tomorrow. I've hit a plateau with Mounjaro, so was going to go to a higher dose but the price hike took it out of my price range.

I'm going from 5mg Mj to 1.0 Weg, and have a 1.7 Weg waiting in the wings. I figured I'd make the switch first, THEN raise the dose. Does that sound sensible? Want to avoid the nausea and other side effects I get when I start on GLP-2is.

(Was on Ozempic, stopped, went onto Wegovy, stoppped, started on Mounjaro, stopped, started Mounjaro again, now transitioning to Wegovy)

I’m so annoyed! I was on 10mg mounjaro and my supplier would not allow me to start at a higher dose of wegovy, said it’s NICE guidelines and he didn’t understand why other suppliers were letting others start higher. Anyways, I started on 0.25mg and lost no weight. I’m on my third week now on 0.5mg and I’ve gained 6lbs. No appetite suppression, craving sugar again. Feel like I’ve wasted my money 😢I wish I could have afforded the increase in price for mounjaro, as I still need to lose 3 stone. I’m due to go up to 1mg wegovy next week and I think if I have no loss on that dose, then I will have to give up. I cannot afford to keep paying for injections that feel like injecting water

I don't know if you saw my earlier post. But that injection is going generic early next year. Wegovy could be as cheap as twenty pounds a month.

It might get an awful lot cheaper very soon.So possibly persevere.

Thank you ☺️ I must have missed that! I will persevere. Just so disheartening, when mounjaro worked so well

I’ve done my 4th Wgy jab (1.7mg) after 16 months of MJ and the last 4 months of that on 15mg. I’ve always been a slow loser- only 3stone in 16 months.

Since I started Wgy I have gained 4lb. I am hungry, think constantly about food, and am reaching for wine and crisps every day. I’m going to try 2.4 for the month but if there’s no change I’m going to stop altogether.

I have. went from 12.5mj to 2.4w and it really hasn't worked for me. Done 2 months and have just reordered MJ. Frustrating as they recomend going on no more than 5mg but I still think that will be better than wegovy. I'm also losing my hair in massive amounts but that could be from the MJ and the weight loss still.

BrunchBarBandit · 15/11/2025 13:58

I’m 2 months into W after 16 months on MJ and last week the scales were up 5lbs since the swap so I’ve re-ordered MJ at 5mg.

of course then when I got on the scales this morning I had lost that 5lb with and extra 1lb on top. But that would be 1lb loss in 2 months and just not enough on W

Pipsqueaks1 · 17/11/2025 20:53

Hi I was on Mounjaro for 8 months and lost 2 stone. I was nervous switching to wegovy and moved from 10mg to 1. Now on first week of 1.7. I would say there is less suppression but still a lot better than white knuckling it myself. I do have constipation which I didn’t on MJ and indigestion. I’m not sure what to do. I don’t want to pay the money for mounjaro it I still have nearly 2 stone to lose. I’ve put on about 3 pounds since the swap but I’m sure it would be a lot more without it. I will see this 1.7 out. I just want to be able to move on and live without obsessing about food or injecting myself with expensive drugs that make me feel ill.

Oh no that sounds tough. Why didn't you move to a supplier who would let you start on a higher dose?

It was my local chemist, so always spoke to him face to face. When he mentioned NICE guidelines, I double checked and found that to be correct. I did not want to move to a different supplier who are flouting the guidelines. I’ve been on 1mg for a week now and thankfully, I have lost 4lbs of the 6lbs gained. Very promising so far

Thats interesting, I wonder how other pharmacies are getting away with not following guidelines! I wondered because I am close to goal and thinking about maintenance options for when my MJ pens run out.

FirmDreamer · 18/11/2025 11:22

I am on my first week of Weygovy after transferring from Mounjaro because of the price increase. I responded immediately to Mounjaro in terms of appetite suppression with little side effects and although my weight loss has been slow and steady

BigTightropeWalker · 18/11/2025 20:25

I have now been back on Mounjaro after my 2 months on Wegovy, during which I gained 6lbs 🙄 Even though I’m on a lower dose of Mounjaro than I was before it is sooooo much better. The relief!!! Now to get back to the point I was at 2 months ago 😩

I meant to say ‘I’ve now been back on Monjaro for 4 days’
