It's also quite an interesting interpretation of that specific line in the bible. Which of course doesn't say that the christian god hates fat people. That proverb actually says:
1 When you sit to dine with a ruler, note well what is before you,
2 and put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony.
3 Do not crave his delicacies, for that food is deceptive.
So it's a bit of a cryptic warning about it being polite not to appear greedy when in important company.
