There are people with nothing starving to death and some selfish greedy person keeps gorging, it's morally repugnant

Actually that selfish greedy person is me.

But im a size 10. Yeah you all hate me. So am I morally repugnant or is it just the people with thyroid issues or the ones who are poor and can only afford food packed with monoglycerides? Or maybe its my lovely colleague who took on foster kids and barely has time for exercise.

Your colleague should eat less if she doesn't have time for exercise. Even just a salad every night and her satisfaction can come from donations to people who have nothing.

This is the company behind this new medication RES-010:

https://www.resalistherapeutics.com/

the trial is for 48 male and female volunteers, some of whom will be a healthy weight, some overweight and some obese. They are primarily looking at safety and tolerating the medication, but will also be looking at several key metabolic markers.

So, do you live a basic, bare-bones existence and donate every single penny extra to people who have less? I'm guessing not, since you appear to have an internet connection and a device to access MN.

I am not greedy or wasteful

Well that's a new one on these boards at least

SilenceInside · 29/09/2025 14:36

It's also quite an interesting interpretation of that specific line in the bible. Which of course doesn't say that the christian god hates fat people. That proverb actually says:

1 When you sit to dine with a ruler, note well what is before you,
2 and put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony.
3 Do not crave his delicacies, for that food is deceptive.

So it's a bit of a cryptic warning about it being polite not to appear greedy when in important company.

I did think that the christian god wasn't that keen on the old "hate" but there we go

You’re not kind, patient, gentle or have any self control when faced with something you can judge and goad on either, not sure your god likes that,,

Bet you have more than you actually need to survive though? Greediness isn't just about food.

That proverb says exercise self restraint be it money, wealth, power, drink, food, it in no way says Christian god hate’s fat people. I think the poster is just on the wind up.

Yes, I think so - if not, she needs to read the Bible a bit more closely.

Yes first time I’ve seen it to. Wonder if the poster will tell her local priest, vicar, whatever that she goes on line and insults fat people as she beleives god hates them. I’d like to watch that interaction.

lastapache · 29/09/2025 15:52

It's fine AllthatShines. The bible only warns us to exercise restraint when the food is being provided by a rich person. I've bought all the food I've gorged on myself, so God still loves me. You can stand down now :)

Go back a generation or two and see how many morbidly obese folk there were. Go to a country with horrendous poverty where people can't afford to gorge themselves multiple times a day, you won't find morbid obesity.

So - if obesity barely existed a generation or two ago, and it’s all down to laziness and greed, are you saying that suddenly millions of people in multiple countries and cultures across the world all got lazy and greedy together at the same time? That’s literally the only cause? 🤔

Popcornandbeetroot · 29/09/2025 16:34

Big food giants have invested billions making food that is extremely addictive, cheap and dense in calories but at the same time not nutritious, then they spent an obscene amount of money selling it to us - so I’m not sure that there is a blame game to be had here on this thread @Allthatshines1992 take your wrathful nonsense and jog on

Job 15:27

27 “Though his face is covered with fat
and his waist bulges with flesh,
28 he will inhabit ruined towns
and houses where no one lives,
houses crumbling to rubble.
29 He will no longer be rich and his wealth will not endure,
nor will his possessions spread over the land.
30 He will not escape the darkness;
a flame will wither his shoots,
and the breath of God’s mouth will carry him away.

Please see the other verses I have posted here to inform others what the Bible says Vs what people like to imagine it says.

Why on earth do you think anyone will care what the Old Testament says about fat people? 🤦‍♀️
Why would God allow GLP1s to be invented if He didn’t approve of their use?

Every supermarket has a fruit and vegetable section. If you choose not to eat veg and instead to buy high calorie low nutritional food you're wasting your money, damaging your health and making a negative choice. You could buy 200g of blueberries and that could be your dinner. That's only a couple of £. Or just eat a toddler sized portion.

Thingyfanding1 · 29/09/2025 19:48

You don't need the medication, just eat less and move more.

You’re a genius!
