Not losing weight on MJ

I have been on Mounjaro for 11 weeks now. I have had 2 pens on 2.5mg and am currently on week 3 of 5mg.

I have only lost 13lbs (8lbs was in the first 3 weeks). I have lost absolutely nothing in the last 3 weeks.

I have appetite suppression and am eating around 1400 cals per day but sometimes that is a struggle. I do try and eat veg, salad and usually grilled chicken every day. I drink water, though admittedly not 2 litres a day.

My exercise has almost stopped due to an injury but hopefully will pick up soon.

What can I do to shift the lbs?

My weight loss has not been linear at all, I’ve come to accepted I stall for 2-3 weeks and then lose a chunk, rinse and repeat. It then evens out to 1lb a week mostly.

Keel going, the stall is going to end. Drinking more will help.

🙌 A watched kettle never boils! I’ve recently been inexplicably stuck, gaining and losing the same 1-2lbs, when I should be dropping weight due to my calorie restriction over the last few weeks! It can be frustrating when you jump on the scale and you have gained a pound or two!

Then this morning, bang 💥 a real drop of just over 2 lbs in weight.

I think it’s good to think of stalls as little breaks along the way. As if you were running a marathon, and stopped for awhile at a station to drink some water and have a break, have a rest and prepare for the next phase. Just driving your body on regardless can be unhealthy, even dangerous.

Can you cut back to 1,300? and focus on over 120g protein and under 150g carbs.

But I think 13lbs in 11 weeks is quite good considering injury. Drink more water.

To add that in my experience besides the obvious of watching calories, the things that make the biggest difference in my weight loss are Water and Sleep.

A week of poor sleep or not getting my fluids and I don’t lose weight, a week of good quality sleep and plenty of water I lose weight. They are easy to lose track of and at least for me sleep is usually one of the first things to go when I get busy or stressed.

The last few days I’ve been going up on the scales only small amounts but each morning it’s been a teeny bit higher. This morning i woke up 2 lbs lighter than yesterday. A look at my Apple health data shows that I was averaging 1hr 50mins sleep during the last week (work is shit, life is hectic, my brain won’t turn off I spend a lot of time laying in bed staring at the inside of my eyelids running through mental to do lists), last night I got 7 and a half hours and yippee weight is back down.

So much good advice on here. I had my monthly check in today and will be switching to wegovy due to the high cost of MJ. I will definitely take into consideration possibly lowering calories and drinking more water. The only problem with that is Ill need to go to the loo 2-3 times in the night.
I have food prepped this weekend so there is an evening meal in the fridge for every night this week.

If you really do need to get up too go to the loo multiple times during the night if you drink about 2lts water a day then it’s worth asking for a blood test to check for pre-diabetes/diabetes.

In retrospect getting up a couple of times a night was one of my first signs that I was diabetic but I ignored it thinking it was just age or that it was normal.

I drink more now than I did then but I have my sugar levels under control and I never wake up during the night to pee, even if I have more water than usual.
